Brethren, my heart’s desire and prayer to God for Israel is, that they might be saved.

Broers, my hart se begeerte en gebed tot God vir Israel is, dat hulle gered mag word.

For I bear them record that they have a zeal of God, but not according to knowledge.

Want ek getuig van hulle dat hulle ’n ywer vir God het, maar nie volgens kennis nie.

For they being ignorant of God’s righteousness, and going about to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of God.

Want hulle, onkundig aangaande die geregtigheid van God, en soekende om hulle eie geregtigheid te bevestig, het hulle nie aan die geregtigheid van God onderwerp nie.

For Christ [is] the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth.

Want Christus is die einde van die wet tot geregtigheid vir elkeen wat glo.

For Moses describeth the righteousness which is of the law, That the man which doeth those things shall live by them.

Want Moses beskryf die geregtigheid wat uit die wet is, Dat die mens wat daardie dinge doen, daardeur sal lewe.

But the righteousness which is of faith speaketh on this wise, Say not in thine heart, Who shall ascend into heaven? (that is, to bring Christ down [from above]:)

Maar die geregtigheid wat uit die geloof is spreek so, Sê nie in jou hart, Wie sal opvaar in die hemel? (dit is, om Christus af te bring:)

Or, Who shall descend into the deep? (that is, to bring up Christ again from the dead.)

Of, Wie sal afdaal in die afgrond? (dit is, om Christus uit die dooies op te bring.)

But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, [even] in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach;

Maar wat sê dit? Die woord is naby jou, selfs in jou mond, en in jou hart: dit is, die woord van die geloof, wat ons verkondig;

9

That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

Dat as jy met jou mond die Here Jesus sal bely, en in jou hart glo dat God Hom uit die dooies opgewek het, jy gered sal word.

For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

Want met die hart glo ’n mens tot geregtigheid; en met die mond bely ’n mens tot heil.

11

For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.

Want die Skrif sê, Elkeen wat in Hom glo sal nie beskaamd word nie.

12

For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him.

Want daar is geen onderskeid tussen die Jood en die Griek nie: want dieselfde Here is ryk oor almal wat Hom aanroep.

13

For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

Want elkeen wat die Naam van die Here aanroep, sal gered word.

14

How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher?

Hoe sal hulle dan aanroep Hom in wie hulle nie geglo het nie? en hoe sal hulle glo in Hom van wie hulle nie gehoor het nie? en hoe sal hulle hoor sonder ’n prediker?

And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!

En hoe sal hulle predik, as hulle nie gestuur word nie? soos geskrywe is, Hoe lieflik is die voete van hulle wat die evangelie van vrede verkondig, en blye tydinge van goeie dinge bring!

But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Esaias saith, Lord, who hath believed our report?

Maar hulle het nie almal die evangelie gehoorsaam nie. Want Jesaja sê, Here, wie het ons berig geglo?

17

So then faith [cometh] by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

So kom die geloof dan uit die gehoor, en die gehoor deur die woord van God.

18

But I say, Have they not heard? Yes verily, their sound went into all the earth, and their words unto the ends of the world.

Maar ek sê, Het hulle nie gehoor nie? Ja waarlik, hulle geluid is uitgegaan oor die hele aarde, en hulle woorde tot die eindes van die wêreld.

19

But I say, Did not Israel know? First Moses saith, I will provoke you to jealousy by [them that are] no people, [and] by a foolish nation I will anger you.

Maar ek sê, Het Israel dit nie geweet nie? Eers sê Moses, Ek sal julle tot jaloesie verwek deur hulle wat geen volk is nie, en deur ’n dwase nasie sal ek julle tot toorn verwek.

But Esaias is very bold, and saith, I was found of them that sought me not; I was made manifest unto them that asked not after me.

Maar Jesaja is baie stoutmoedig, en sê, Ek is gevind deur hulle wat My nie soek nie; ek is openbaar geword aan hulle wat nie na My gevra het nie.

21

But to Israel he saith, All day long I have stretched forth my hands unto a disobedient and gainsaying people.

Maar tot Israel sê hy, Die hele dag het ek my hande uitgestrek tot ’n ongehoorsame en teëstribbelende volk.
