To the chief Musician upon ShoshannimEduth, A Psalm of Asaph. Give ear, O Shepherd of Israel, thou that leadest Joseph like a flock; thou that dwellest [between] the cherubims, shine forth.
Gee oor, o Herder van Israel, U wat Josef soos ‚'n trop lei; U wat tussen die gerubs woon, skyn voort.

Before Ephraim and Benjamin and Manasseh stir up thy strength, and come [and] save us.
Voor Efraim en Benjamin en Manasse, wek u sterkte op, en kom en red ons.
3
Turn us again, O God, and cause thy face to shine; and we shall be saved.
Keer ons om, o God, en laat u aangesig skyn; en ons sal gered word.
4
O LORD God of hosts, how long wilt thou be angry against the prayer of thy people?
O HERE God van leërskare, hoe lank sal U toornig wees teen die gebed van u volk?
5
Thou feedest them with the bread of tears; and givest them tears to drink in great measure.
U voed hulle met die brood van trane; en gee hulle trane te drink in groot mate.
6
Thou makest us a strife unto our neighbours: and our enemies laugh among themselves.
U maak ons ‚'n stryd onder ons bure: en ons vyande lag onder hulleself.
7
Turn us again, O God of hosts, and cause thy face to shine; and we shall be saved.
Keer ons om, o God van leërskare, en laat u aangesig skyn; en ons sal gered word.
8
Thou hast brought a vine out of Egypt: thou hast cast out the heathen, and planted it.
U het ‚'n wingerdstok uit Egipte uitgebring: U het die heidene uitgedrywe, en dit geplant.
9
Thou preparedst [room] before it, and didst cause it to take deep root, and it filled the land.
U het ‚'n plek daarvoor berei, en dit diep wortels laat skiet, en dit het die land gevul.

The hills were covered with the shadow of it, and the boughs thereof [were like] the goodly cedars.
Die heuwels is met die skaduwee daarvan bedek, en die takke daarvan was soos die goeie seders.

She sent out her boughs unto the sea, and her branches unto the river.
Sy takke het tot by die see uitgestrek, en haar takke tot by die rivier.
12
Why hast thou [then] broken down her hedges, so that all they which pass by the way do pluck her?
Waarom het U dan haar heinings afgebreek, sodat almal wat by die weg verbygaan, haar pluk?
13
The boar out of the wood doth waste it, and the wild beast of the field doth devour it.
Die wildsvark uit die woud verwoes dit, en die wilde dier van die veld eet dit op.
14
Return, we beseech thee, O God of hosts: look down from heaven, and behold, and visit this vine;
Keer terug, ons bid U, o God van leërskare: kyk van die hemel af, en aanskou, en besoek hierdie wingerdstok;
15
And the vineyard which thy right hand hath planted, and the branch [that] thou madest strong for thyself.
En die wingerdstok wat u regterhand geplant het, en die tak wat U vir uself sterk gemaak het.
16
[It is] burned with fire, [it is] cut down: they perish at the rebuke of thy countenance.
Dit is met vuur verbrand, dit is afgekap: hulle vergaan by die bestraffing van u aangesig.
17
Let thy hand be upon the man of thy right hand, upon the son of man [whom] thou madest strong for thyself.
Laat u hand wees op die man van u regterhand, op die seun van die mens wat U vir uself sterk gemaak het.
18
So will not we go back from thee: quicken us, and we will call upon thy name.
So sal ons nie van U terugkeer nie: maak ons lewendig, en ons sal u Naam aanroep.
19
Turn us again, O LORD God of hosts, cause thy face to shine; and we shall be saved.
Keer ons om, o HERE God van leërskare, laat u aangesig skyn; en ons sal gered word.
