And when Balaam saw that it pleased the LORD to bless Israel, he went not, as at other times, to seek for enchantments, but he set his face toward the wilderness.
En toe Bileam sien dat dit die HERE behaag om Israel te seën, het hy nie soos die vorige kere gegaan om towerwerk te soek nie, maar hy het sy aangesig na die wildernis gerig.

And Balaam lifted up his eyes, and he saw Israel abiding [in his tents] according to their tribes; and the spirit of God came upon him.
En Bileam het sy oë opgeslaan, en Israel gesien wat volgens hulle stamme kamp opgeslaan het; en die Gees van God het op hom gekom.

And he took up his parable, and said, Balaam the son of Beor hath said, and the man whose eyes are open hath said:
En hy het sy spreuk opgeneem, en gesê, Bileam die seun van Beor sê, en die man wie se oë oopgemaak is, sê:
4
He hath said, which heard the words of God, which saw the vision of the Almighty, falling [into a trance], but having his eyes open:
Hy sê, wat die woorde van God gehoor het, wat die gesig van die Almagtige gesien het, wat neerval, maar oop oë het:
5
How goodly are thy tents, O Jacob, [and] thy tabernacles, O Israel!
Hoe goed is jou tente, o Jakob, en jou wonings, o Israel!
6
As the valleys are they spread forth, as gardens by the river’s side, as the trees of lign aloes which the LORD hath planted, [and] as cedar trees beside the waters.
Soos die dale is hulle uitgebrei, soos tuine by ’n rivier, soos aloëbome wat die HERE geplant het, soos sederbome by die waters.

He shall pour the water out of his buckets, and his seed [shall be] in many waters, and his king shall be higher than Agag, and his kingdom shall be exalted.
Hy sal water uit sy emmers uitgiet, en sy saad sal in baie waters wees, en sy koning sal hoër wees as Agag, en sy koninkryk sal verhoog word.

God brought him forth out of Egypt; he hath as it were the strength of an unicorn: he shall eat up the nations his enemies, and shall break their bones, and pierce [them] through with his arrows.
God het hom uitgebring uit Egipte; hy het as‚'t ware die sterkte van ‚'n renoster: hy sal die nasies, sy vyande, verteer, en hulle bene verbreek, en hulle met sy pyle deurboor.

He couched, he lay down as a lion, and as a great lion: who shall stir him up? Blessed [is] he that blesseth thee, and cursed [is] he that curseth thee.
Hy het neergebuig, hy het gaan lê soos ’n leeu, en soos ’n groot leeu: wie sal hom opwek? Geseënd is hy wat jou seën, en vervloek is hy wat jou vloek.

And Balak’s anger was kindled against Balaam, and he smote his hands together: and Balak said unto Balaam, I called thee to curse mine enemies, and, behold, thou hast altogether blessed [them] these three times.
En Balak se toorn is aangesteek teen Bileam, en hy het sy hande saamgeslaan: en Balak het tot Bileam gesê, Ek het jou geroep om my vyande te vloek, en kyk, jy het hulle algeheel geseën hierdie drie maal.

Therefore now flee thou to thy place: I thought to promote thee unto great honour; but, lo, the LORD hath kept thee back from honour.
Daarom vlug nou na jou plek toe: ek het gedink om jou te vereer; maar kyk, die HERE het jou van eer teruggehou.
12
And Balaam said unto Balak, Spake I not also to thy messengers which thou sentest unto me, saying,
En Bileam het tot Balak gesê, Het ek nie ook tot jou boodskappers wat jy na my gestuur het, gespreek, en gesê,
13
If Balak would give me his house full of silver and gold, I cannot go beyond the commandment of the LORD, to do [either] good or bad of mine own mind; [but] what the LORD saith, that will I speak?
Al gee Balak my sy huis vol silwer en goud, kan ek nie die bevel van die HERE oortree, om goed of kwaad uit my eie hart te doen nie; maar wat die HERE spreek, dit moet ek spreek?

And now, behold, I go unto my people: come [therefore, and] I will advertise thee what this people shall do to thy people in the latter days.
En nou, kyk, ek gaan na my volk: kom, ek sal jou raad gee wat hierdie volk aan jou volk sal doen in die laaste dae.

And he took up his parable, and said, Balaam the son of Beor hath said, and the man whose eyes are open hath said:
En hy het sy spreuk opgeneem, en gesê, Bileam die seun van Beor sê, en die man wie se oë oopgemaak is, sê:
16
He hath said, which heard the words of God, and knew the knowledge of the most High, [which] saw the vision of the Almighty, falling [into a trance], but having his eyes open:
Hy sê, wat die woorde van God gehoor het, en die kennis van die Allerhoogste ken, wat die gesig van die Almagtige gesien het, wat neerval, maar oop oë het:
17
I shall see him, but not now: I shall behold him, but not nigh: there shall come a Star out of Jacob, and a Sceptre shall rise out of Israel, and shall smite the corners of Moab, and destroy all the children of Sheth.
Ek sal hom sien, maar nie nou nie: ek sal hom aanskou, maar nie naby nie: daar sal ‚'n Ster uit Jakob voortkom, en ‚'n Septer sal uit Israel opstaan, en sal die hoeke van Moab verbrys, en al die kinders van Set vernietig.

And Edom shall be a possession, Seir also shall be a possession for his enemies; and Israel shall do valiantly.
En Edom sal ’n besitting wees, Seïr ook sal ’n besitting wees vir sy vyande; en Israel sal dapper handel.
19
Out of Jacob shall come he that shall have dominion, and shall destroy him that remaineth of the city.
Uit Jakob sal Hy heers, en sal oorblyfsel uit die stad vernietig.
20
And when he looked on Amalek, he took up his parable, and said, Amalek [was] the first of the nations; but his latter end [shall be] that he perish for ever.
En toe hy Amalek aanskou, het hy sy spreuk opgeneem, en gesê, Amalek was die eerste van die nasies; maar sy einde sal wees dat hy tot niet gaan.

And he looked on the Kenites, and took up his parable, and said, Strong is thy dwellingplace, and thou puttest thy nest in a rock.
En hy het die Keniete aangeskou, en sy spreuk opgeneem, en gesê, Sterk is jou woning, en jy sit jou nes in ’n rots.
22
Nevertheless the Kenite shall be wasted, until Asshur shall carry thee away captive.
Nogtans sal die Keniet verwoes word, totdat Assur jou as gevangene wegvoer.
23
And he took up his parable, and said, Alas, who shall live when God doeth this!
En hy het sy spreuk opgeneem, en gesê, Ag, wie sal lewe wanneer God dit doen!
24
And ships [shall come] from the coast of Chittim, and shall afflict Asshur, and shall afflict Eber, and he also shall perish for ever.
En skepe sal van die kus van Kittim kom, en Assur sal verdruk, en Heber sal verdruk; en hy sal ook tot niet gaan.
25
And Balaam rose up, and went and returned to his place: and Balak also went his way.
En Bileam het opgestaan, en gegaan, en na sy plek teruggekeer: en Balak het ook sy eie pad gegaan.
