And when they drew nigh unto Jerusalem, and were come to Bethphage, unto the mount of Olives, then sent Jesus two disciples,
En toe hulle naby Jérusalem gekom het, en by Betfagé by die Olyfberg gekom het, het Jesus twee dissipels uitgestuur,
2
Saying unto them, Go into the village over against you, and straightway ye shall find an ass tied, and a colt with her: loose [them], and bring [them] unto me.
Sê tot hulle, Gaan in die dorp wat teenoor julle is, en dadelik sal julle ’n eselin vind wat vasgemaak is, en ’n veulen by haar: maak hulle los, en bring hulle na My toe.

And if any [man] say ought unto you, ye shall say, The Lord hath need of them; and straightway he will send them.
En as iemand iets tot julle sê, moet julle sê, Die Here het hulle nodig; en dadelik sal hy hulle stuur.

All this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, saying,
Dit alles is gebeur, dat dit vervul mag word wat deur die profeet gespreek is, sê,

Tell ye the daughter of Sion, Behold, thy King cometh unto thee, meek, and sitting upon an ass, and a colt the foal of an ass.
Sê tot die dogter van Sion, Kyk, jou Koning kom tot jou, sagmoedig, en sittende op ’n esel, en ’n veulen, die jong van ’n eselin.

And the disciples went, and did as Jesus commanded them,
En die dissipels het gegaan, en gedoen soos Jesus hulle beveel het,

And brought the ass, and the colt, and put on them their clothes, and they set [him] thereon.
En die eselin en die veulen gebring, en hulle klere daarop gelê, en hulle het Hom daarop gesit.
8
And a very great multitude spread their garments in the way; others cut down branches from the trees, and strawed [them] in the way.
En ‚'n baie groot skare het hulle klere op die pad gesprei; andere het takke van die bome afgekap, en dit op die pad gestrooi.
9
And the multitudes that went before, and that followed, cried, saying, Hosanna to the Son of David: Blessed [is] he that cometh in the name of the Lord; Hosanna in the highest.
En die skare wat vooruitgegaan het, en dié wat gevolg het, het uitgeroep, sê, Hosanna vir die Seun van Dawid: Geseënd is Hy wat kom in die Naam van die Here; Hosanna in die hoogste.

And when he was come into Jerusalem, all the city was moved, saying, Who is this?
En toe Hy in Jérusalem ingekom het, was die hele stad in beroering, sê, Wie is dit?
11
And the multitude said, This is Jesus the prophet of Nazareth of Galilee.
En die skare het gesê, Dit is Jesus die profeet van Nasaret in Galilea.
12
And Jesus went into the temple of God, and cast out all them that sold and bought in the temple, and overthrew the tables of the moneychangers, and the seats of them that sold doves,
En Jesus het in die tempel van God gegaan, en almal uitgedryf wat in die tempel verkoop en gekoop het; en die tafels van die geldwisselaars omgekeer, en die sitplekke van dié wat duiwe verkoop.

And said unto them, It is written, My house shall be called the house of prayer; but ye have made it a den of thieves.
En tot hulle gesê, Daar is geskrywe, My huis sal ’n huis van gebed genoem word; maar julle het dit ’n roofnes gemaak.
14
And the blind and the lame came to him in the temple; and he healed them.
En die blindes en die verlamdes het by Hom in die tempel gekom; en Hy het hulle genees.
15
And when the chief priests and scribes saw the wonderful things that he did, and the children crying in the temple, and saying, Hosanna to the Son of David; they were sore displeased,
En toe die owerpriesters en skrifgeleerdes die wonderlike dinge sien wat Hy gedoen het, en die kinders wat in die tempel uitroep, en sê, Hosanna vir die Seun van Dawid; was hulle verontwaardig,

And said unto him, Hearest thou what these say? And Jesus saith unto them, Yea; have ye never read, Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings thou hast perfected praise?
En tot Hom gesê, Hoor U wat hierdie sê? En Jesus het tot hulle gesê, Ja; het julle nooit gelees nie, Uit die mond van kinders en suigelinge het U lof toeberei?

And he left them, and went out of the city into Bethany; and he lodged there.
En Hy het hulle verlaat, en uit die stad na Betánië gegaan; en Hy het daar vernag.
18
Now in the morning as he returned into the city, he hungered.
Nou in die môre, toe Hy terugkeer na die stad, was Hy honger.
19
And when he saw a fig tree in the way, he came to it, and found nothing thereon, but leaves only, and said unto it, Let no fruit grow on thee henceforward for ever. And presently the fig tree withered away.
En toe Hy ’n vyeboom by die pad sien, het Hy daarheen gegaan, en niks daaraan gevind nie, behalwe blare alleen, en tot dit gesê, Laat daar geen vrug van jou meer voortkom tot in ewigheid nie. En dadelik het die vyeboom verdor.

And when the disciples saw [it], they marvelled, saying, How soon is the fig tree withered away!
En toe die dissipels dit sien, het hulle hulle verwonder, sê, Hoe gou is die vyeboom verdor!
21
Jesus answered and said unto them, Verily I say unto you, If ye have faith, and doubt not, ye shall not only do this [which is done] to the fig tree, but also if ye shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; it shall be done.
Jesus het geantwoord en tot hulle gesê, Voorwaar sê ek vir julle, As julle geloof het, en nie twyfel nie, sal julle nie alleen hierdie doen wat aan die vyeboom gedoen is nie, maar ook as julle tot hierdie berg sê, Word verwyder, en in die see gewerp; dit sal gebeur.

And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive.
En alles wat julle in die gebed vra, terwyl julle glo, sal julle ontvang.

And when he was come into the temple, the chief priests and the elders of the people came unto him as he was teaching, and said, By what authority doest thou these things? and who gave thee this authority?
En toe Hy in die tempel gekom het, het die owerpriesters en die ouderlinge van die volk by Hom gekom terwyl Hy leer, en gesê, Deur watter gesag doen U hierdie dinge? en wie het U hierdie gesag gegee?

And Jesus answered and said unto them, I also will ask you one thing, which if ye tell me, I in like wise will tell you by what authority I do these things.
En Jesus het geantwoord en tot hulle gesê, Ek sal julle ook een ding vra, wat as julle My sê, sal ek julle ook sê deur watter gesag ek hierdie dinge doen.

The baptism of John, whence was it? from heaven, or of men? And they reasoned with themselves, saying, If we shall say, From heaven; he will say unto us, Why did ye not then believe him?
Die doop van Johannes, waarvandaan was dit? van die hemel, of van die mens? En hulle het onder mekaar geredeneer, sê, As ons sê, Van die hemel; sal Hy tot ons sê, Waarom het julle hom dan nie geglo nie?

But if we shall say, Of men; we fear the people; for all hold John as a prophet.
Maar as ons sê, Van die mens; ons vrees die skare; want almal hou Johannes as ’n profeet.
27
And they answered Jesus, and said, We cannot tell. And he said unto them, Neither tell I you by what authority I do these things.
En hulle het Jesus geantwoord, en gesê, Ons weet nie. En Hy het tot hulle gesê, Ook ek sê julle nie deur watter gesag ek hierdie dinge doen nie.

But what think ye? A [certain] man had two sons; and he came to the first, and said, Son, go work to day in my vineyard.
Maar wat dink julle? ’n Sekere man het twee seuns gehad; en hy het by die eerste gekom, en gesê, Seun, gaan werk vandag in my wingerd.

He answered and said, I will not: but afterward he repented, and went.
Hy het geantwoord en gesê, Ek wil nie: maar daarna het hy berou gehad, en gegaan.
30
And he came to the second, and said likewise. And he answered and said, I [go], sir: and went not.
En hy het by die tweede gekom, en dieselfde gesê. En hy het geantwoord en gesê, Ek gaan, heer: en het nie gegaan nie.

Whether of them twain did the will of [his] father? They say unto him, The first. Jesus saith unto them, Verily I say unto you, That the publicans and the harlots go into the kingdom of God before you.
Wie van die twee het die wil van sy vader gedoen? Hulle het tot Hom gesê, Die eerste. Jesus het tot hulle gesê, Voorwaar sê ek vir julle, Dat die tollenaars en die hoere julle vooruitgaan in die koninkryk van God.

For John came unto you in the way of righteousness, and ye believed him not: but the publicans and the harlots believed him: and ye, when ye had seen [it], repented not afterward, that ye might believe him.
Want Johannes het tot julle gekom in die weg van geregtigheid, en julle het hom nie geglo nie: maar die tollenaars en die hoere het hom geglo: en julle, toe julle dit gesien het, het julle julle nie daarna bekeer om hom te glo nie.

Hear another parable: There was a certain householder, which planted a vineyard, and hedged it round about, and digged a winepress in it, and built a tower, and let it out to husbandmen, and went into a far country:
Hoor ‚'n ander gelykenis: Daar was ‚'n sekere huiseienaar, wat ‚'n wingerd geplant het, en ‚'n heining daarom gesit het, en ‚'n wynpers daarin gegrawe het, en ‚'n toring gebou het, en dit aan landbouers verhuur het, en in ‚'n ver land gegaan het:

And when the time of the fruit drew near, he sent his servants to the husbandmen, that they might receive the fruits of it.
En toe die tyd van die vrugte naby was, het hy sy dienaars na die landbouers gestuur, om sy vrugte te ontvang.
35
And the husbandmen took his servants, and beat one, and killed another, and stoned another.
En die landbouers het sy dienaars geneem, en die een geslaan, en ‚'n ander doodgemaak, en ‚'n ander gestenig.
36
Again, he sent other servants more than the first: and they did unto them likewise.
Weer het hy ander dienaars gestuur, meer as die eerste: en hulle het aan hulle dieselfde gedoen.
37
But last of all he sent unto them his son, saying, They will reverence my son.
Maar laastens het hy sy seun na hulle gestuur, sê, Hulle sal my seun eerbiedig.
38
But when the husbandmen saw the son, they said among themselves, This is the heir; come, let us kill him, and let us seize on his inheritance.
Maar toe die landbouers die seun sien, het hulle onder mekaar gesê, Dit is die erfgenaam; kom, laat ons hom doodmaak, en laat ons sy erfenis gryp.

And they caught him, and cast [him] out of the vineyard, and slew [him].
En hulle het hom geneem, en hom uit die wingerd uitgewerp, en hom doodgemaak.
40
When the lord therefore of the vineyard cometh, what will he do unto those husbandmen?
Wanneer die heer van die wingerd dan kom, wat sal hy met daardie landbouers doen?
41
They say unto him, He will miserably destroy those wicked men, and will let out [his] vineyard unto other husbandmen, which shall render him the fruits in their seasons.
Hulle het tot Hom gesê, Hy sal daardie slegte manne ’n slegte dood laat sterwe, en die wingerd aan ander landbouers verhuur, wat hom die vrugte in hulle seisoene sal gee.

Jesus saith unto them, Did ye never read in the scriptures, The stone which the builders rejected, the same is become the head of the corner: this is the Lord’s doing, and it is marvellous in our eyes?
Jesus het tot hulle gesê, Het julle nooit in die Skrifte gelees nie, Die steen wat die bouers verwerp het, dieselfde is die hoof van die hoek geword: dit is van die Here, en dit is wonderlik in ons oë?

Therefore say I unto you, The kingdom of God shall be taken from you, and given to a nation bringing forth the fruits thereof.
Daarom sê ek vir julle, Die koninkryk van God sal van julle weggeneem word, en aan ’n nasie gegee word wat die vrugte daarvan voortbring.
44
And whosoever shall fall on this stone shall be broken: but on whomsoever it shall fall, it will grind him to powder.
En elkeen wat op hierdie steen val, sal stukkend gebreek word: maar op wie dit val, dit sal hom vermorsel.
45
And when the chief priests and Pharisees had heard his parables, they perceived that he spake of them.
En toe die owerpriesters en Fariseërs sy gelykenisse gehoor het, het hulle verstaan dat Hy van hulle gespreek het.
46
But when they sought to lay hands on him, they feared the multitude, because they took him for a prophet.
Maar toe hulle Hom wou gryp, het hulle die skare gevrees, omdat hulle Hom as ‚'n profeet gehou het.
