1
And it came to pass, [that] when Jesus had finished these sayings, he departed from Galilee, and came into the coasts of Judaea beyond Jordan;
En dit het gebeur, toe Jesus hierdie woorde voleindig het, dat Hy van Galilea vertrek het, en in die grense van Judea oorkant die Jordaan gekom het;

And great multitudes followed him; and he healed them there.
En groot skare het Hom gevolg; en Hy het hulle daar genees.

The Pharisees also came unto him, tempting him, and saying unto him, Is it lawful for a man to put away his wife for every cause?
Die Fariseërs het ook by Hom gekom, Hom versoek, en tot Hom gesê, Is dit geoorloof vir ’n man om sy vrou weg te stuur om enige oorsaak?

And he answered and said unto them, Have ye not read, that he which made [them] at the beginning made them male and female,
En Hy het geantwoord en tot hulle gesê, Het julle nie gelees dat Hy wat hulle van die begin af gemaak het, hulle man en vrou gemaak het nie,
5
And said, For this cause shall a man leave father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife: and they twain shall be one flesh?
En gesê het, Om hierdie rede sal ’n man sy vader en moeder verlaat, en by sy vrou bly: en hulle twee sal een vlees wees?
6
Wherefore they are no more twain, but one flesh. What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder.
Daarom is hulle nie meer twee nie, maar een vlees. Wat God dan saamgevoeg het, laat die mens nie skei nie.

They say unto him, Why did Moses then command to give a writing of divorcement, and to put her away?
Hulle het tot Hom gesê, Waarom het Moses dan beveel om ’n skeibrief te gee, en haar weg te stuur?
8
He saith unto them, Moses because of the hardness of your hearts suffered you to put away your wives: but from the beginning it was not so.
Hy het tot hulle gesê, Moses het vanweë die hardheid van julle harte julle toegelaat om julle vroue weg te stuur: maar van die begin af was dit nie so nie.
9
And I say unto you, Whosoever shall put away his wife, except [it be] for fornication, and shall marry another, committeth adultery: and whoso marrieth her which is put away doth commit adultery.
En ek sê vir julle, Wie ook al sy vrou wegstuur, behalwe vir hoerery, en ’n ander een trou, pleeg egbreuk: en wie haar trou wat weggestuur is, pleeg egbreuk.

His disciples say unto him, If the case of the man be so with [his] wife, it is not good to marry.
Sy dissipels het tot Hom gesê, As die saak van die man so is met die vrou, is dit nie goed om te trou nie.
11
But he said unto them, All [men] cannot receive this saying, save [they] to whom it is given.
Maar Hy het tot hulle gesê, Nie almal kan hierdie woord ontvang nie, behalwe dié aan wie dit gegee is.
12
For there are some eunuchs, which were so born from [their] mother’s womb: and there are some eunuchs, which were made eunuchs of men: and there be eunuchs, which have made themselves eunuchs for the kingdom of heaven’s sake. He that is able to receive [it], let him receive [it].
Want daar is ontmanden, wat so van die moederskoot af gebore is: en daar is ontmanden, wat deur die mens ontman is: en daar is ontmanden, wat hulleself ontman het om die koninkryk van die hemele ontwil. Hy wat dit kan ontvang, laat hom dit ontvang.

Then were there brought unto him little children, that he should put [his] hands on them, and pray: and the disciples rebuked them.
Toe is daar kindertjies by Hom gebring, dat Hy sy hande op hulle sou lê, en bid: en die dissipels het hulle bestraf.
14
But Jesus said, Suffer little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me: for of such is the kingdom of heaven.
Maar Jesus het gesê, Laat die kindertjies toe, en verhinder hulle nie om na My te kom nie: want aan sulkes behoort die koninkryk van die hemele.

And he laid [his] hands on them, and departed thence.
En Hy het sy hande op hulle gelê, en daarvandaan vertrek.
16
And, behold, one came and said unto him, Good Master, what good thing shall I do, that I may have eternal life?
En kyk, een het gekom en tot Hom gesê, Goeie Meester, watter goeie ding moet ek doen, dat ek die ewige lewe mag hê?
17
And he said unto him, Why callest thou me good? [there is] none good but one, [that is], God: but if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments.
En Hy het tot hom gesê, Waarom noem jy My goed? daar is niemand goed nie, behalwe een, dit is God: maar as jy in die lewe wil ingaan, bewaar die gebooie.

He saith unto him, Which? Jesus said, Thou shalt do no murder, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness,
Hy het tot Hom gesê, Watter? Jesus het gesê, Jy moet nie doodslaan nie, Jy moet nie egbreuk pleeg nie, Jy moet nie steel nie, Jy moet nie valse getuienis gee nie,

Honour thy father and [thy] mother: and, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
Eer jou vader en jou moeder: en, Jy moet jou naaste liefhê soos jouself.
20
The young man saith unto him, All these things have I kept from my youth up: what lack I yet?
Die jongman het tot Hom gesê, Al hierdie dinge het ek van my jeug af bewaar: wat ontbreek ek nog?
21
Jesus said unto him, If thou wilt be perfect, go [and] sell that thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come [and] follow me.
Jesus het tot hom gesê, As jy volmaak wil wees, gaan en verkoop wat jy het, en gee dit aan die armes, en jy sal ’n skat in die hemele hê: en kom en volg My.

But when the young man heard that saying, he went away sorrowful: for he had great possessions.
Maar toe die jongman daardie woord gehoor het, het hy bedroef weggegaan: want hy het baie besittings gehad.
23
Then said Jesus unto his disciples, Verily I say unto you, That a rich man shall hardly enter into the kingdom of heaven.
Toe het Jesus tot sy dissipels gesê, Voorwaar sê ek vir julle, Dat ’n ryk mens moeilik in die koninkryk van die hemele sal ingaan.
24
And again I say unto you, It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.
En weer sê ek vir julle, Dit is makliker vir ’n kameel om deur die oog van ’n naald te gaan, as vir ’n ryk mens om in die koninkryk van God in te gaan.

When his disciples heard [it], they were exceedingly amazed, saying, Who then can be saved?
Toe sy dissipels dit gehoor het, was hulle uitermate verbaas, sê, Wie kan dan gered word?
26
But Jesus beheld [them], and said unto them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible.
Maar Jesus het hulle aangesien, en tot hulle gesê, By die mens is dit onmoontlik; maar by God is alle dinge moontlik.
27
Then answered Peter and said unto him, Behold, we have forsaken all, and followed thee; what shall we have therefore?
Toe het Petrus geantwoord en tot Hom gesê, Kyk, ons het alles verlaat, en U gevolg; wat sal ons dan hê?
28
And Jesus said unto them, Verily I say unto you, That ye which have followed me, in the regeneration when the Son of man shall sit in the throne of his glory, ye also shall sit upon twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.
En Jesus het tot hulle gesê, Voorwaar sê ek vir julle, Dat julle wat My gevolg het, in die wedergeboorte, wanneer die Seun van die mens op die troon van sy heerlikheid sal sit, sal julle ook op twaalf trone sit, en die twaalf stamme van Israel oordeel.

And every one that hath forsaken houses, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my name’s sake, shall receive an hundredfold, and shall inherit everlasting life.
En elkeen wat huise, of broers, of susters, of vader, of moeder, of vrou, of kinders, of lande verlaat het, om my Naam ontwil, sal ’n honderdmaal ontvang, en die ewige lewe beërwe.

But many [that are] first shall be last; and the last [shall be] first.
Maar baie wat die eerstes is, sal die laastes wees; en die laastes die eerstes.
