And when he had called unto [him] his twelve disciples, he gave them power [against] unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal all manner of sickness and all manner of disease.
En toe Hy sy twaalf dissipels by Hom geroep het, het Hy hulle mag gegee oor onreine geeste, om hulle uit te dryf, en om elke siekte en elke kwaal te genees.

Now the names of the twelve apostles are these; The first, Simon, who is called Peter, and Andrew his brother; James [the son] of Zebedee, and John his brother;
Nou die name van die twaalf apostels is hierdie; Die eerste, Simon, wat Petrus genoem word, en Andréas sy broer; Jakobus die seun van Sebedéüs, en Johannes sy broer;

Philip, and Bartholomew; Thomas, and Matthew the publican; James [the son] of Alphaeus, and Lebbaeus, whose surname was Thaddaeus;
Filippus, en Bartoloméüs; Thomas, en Matthéüs die tollenaar; Jakobus die seun van Alféüs, en Lebbéüs, wie se bynaam Taddéüs was;

Simon the Canaanite, and Judas Iscariot, who also betrayed him.

These twelve Jesus sent forth, and commanded them, saying, Go not into the way of the Gentiles, and into [any] city of the Samaritans enter ye not:
Hierdie twaalf het Jesus uitgestuur, en hulle beveel, sê, Gaan nie op die pad van die heidene nie, en gaan nie in ’n stad van die Samaritanen in nie:

But go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.
Maar gaan liewer na die verlore skape van die huis van Israel.

And as ye go, preach, saying, The kingdom of heaven is at hand.
En terwyl julle gaan, preek, sê, Die koninkryk van die hemele is naby.
8
Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: freely ye have received, freely give.
Genees die siekes, reinig die melaatses, wek die dooies op, dryf die duiwels uit: julle het dit verniet ontvang, gee dit verniet.
9
Provide neither gold, nor silver, nor brass in your purses,
Verskaf julle nie goud, of silwer, of koper in julle gordels nie,
10
Nor scrip for [your] journey, neither two coats, neither shoes, nor yet staves: for the workman is worthy of his meat.
En ook nie ’n sak vir die reis, of twee onderkledingstukke, of skoene, of stokke nie: want die arbeider is sy voedsel werd.
11
And into whatsoever city or town ye shall enter, inquire who in it is worthy; and there abide till ye go thence.
En in watter stad of dorp julle ook al ingaan, ondersoek wie daarin waardig is; en bly daar totdat julle verder gaan.
12
And when ye come into an house, salute it.
En wanneer julle in ’n huis ingaan, groet dit.
13
And if the house be worthy, let your peace come upon it: but if it be not worthy, let your peace return to you.
En as die huis waardig is, laat julle vrede daarop kom: maar as dit nie waardig is nie, laat julle vrede tot julle terugkeer.
14
And whosoever shall not receive you, nor hear your words, when ye depart out of that house or city, shake off the dust of your feet.
En wie ook al julle nie sal ontvang, of julle woorde nie sal hoor nie, wanneer julle uit daardie huis of stad uitgaan, skud die stof van julle voete af.
15
Verily I say unto you, It shall be more tolerable for the land of Sodom and Gomorrha in the day of judgment, than for that city.
Voorwaar sê ek vir julle, Dit sal vir die land van Sodom en Gomorra verdraagliker wees in die dag van oordeel, as vir daardie stad.
16
Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves: be ye therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as doves.
Kyk, ek stuur julle soos skape tussen wolwe in: wees daarom wys soos die slange, en onskuldig soos die duiwe.
17
But beware of men: for they will deliver you up to the councils, and they will scourge you in their synagogues;
Maar pas op vir die mense: want hulle sal julle aan die rade oorgee, en hulle sal julle in hulle sinagoges gesels.
18
And ye shall be brought before governors and kings for my sake, for a testimony against them and the Gentiles.
En julle sal voor goewerneurs en konings gebring word om My ontwil, tot ’n getuienis teen hulle en die nasies.
19
But when they deliver you up, take no thought how or what ye shall speak: for it shall be given you in that same hour what ye shall speak.
Maar wanneer hulle julle oorgee, wees nie besorg hoe of wat julle sal spreek nie: want dit sal julle in daardie selfde uur gegee word wat julle moet spreek.
20
For it is not ye that speak, but the Spirit of your Father which speaketh in you.
Want dit is nie julle wat spreek nie, maar die Gees van julle Vader wat in julle spreek.
21
And the brother shall deliver up the brother to death, and the father the child: and the children shall rise up against [their] parents, and cause them to be put to death.
En die broer sal die broer tot die dood oorgee, en die vader die kind: en die kinders sal teen hulle ouers opstaan, en hulle laat doodmaak.
22
And ye shall be hated of all [men] for my name’s sake: but he that endureth to the end shall be saved.
En julle sal deur almal gehaat word om my Naam ontwil: maar hy wat tot die einde toe volhard, sal gered word.
23
But when they persecute you in this city, flee ye into another: for verily I say unto you, Ye shall not have gone over the cities of Israel, till the Son of man be come.
Maar wanneer hulle julle in hierdie stad vervolg, vlug na ’n ander: want voorwaar sê ek vir julle, Julle sal nie deur al die stede van Israel gegaan het nie, totdat die Seun van die mens kom.

The disciple is not above [his] master, nor the servant above his lord.
Die dissipel is nie bo sy meester nie, en ook die dienaar nie bo sy heer nie.
25
It is enough for the disciple that he be as his master, and the servant as his lord. If they have called the master of the house Beelzebub, how much more [shall they call] them of his household?
Dit is genoeg vir die dissipel dat hy soos sy meester is, en die dienaar soos sy heer. As hulle die heer van die huis Béëlsebul genoem het, hoeveel te meer sal hulle hulle van sy huisgenote noem?

Fear them not therefore: for there is nothing covered, that shall not be revealed; and hid, that shall not be known.
Vrees hulle daarom nie: want daar is niks bedek wat nie geopenbaar sal word nie; en niks verborge wat nie bekend sal word nie.
27
What I tell you in darkness, [that] speak ye in light: and what ye hear in the ear, [that] preach ye upon the housetops.
Wat ek julle in die duisternis sê, spreek dit in die lig: en wat julle in die oor hoor, predik dit op die dakke.
28
And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.
En vrees nie hulle wat die liggaam doodmaak, maar nie in staat is om die siel dood te maak nie: maar vrees Hom liewer wat in staat is om beide siel en liggaam in die hel te vernietig.

Are not two sparrows sold for a farthing? and one of them shall not fall on the ground without your Father.
Word nie twee mossies vir ’n pennie verkoop nie? en nie een van hulle sal op die grond val sonder julle Vader nie.
30
But the very hairs of your head are all numbered.
Maar die hare van julle hoof is almal getel.
31
Fear ye not therefore, ye are of more value than many sparrows.
Vrees daarom nie, julle is meer werd as baie mossies.
32
Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men, him will I confess also before my Father which is in heaven.
Elkeen dan wat My voor die mense bely, hom sal ek ook bely voor my Vader wat in die hemele is.
33
But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven.
Maar elkeen wat My voor die mense verloën, hom sal ek ook verloën voor my Vader wat in die hemele is.
34
Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword.
Moenie dink dat ek gekom het om vrede op die aarde te bring nie: ek is nie gekom om vrede te bring nie, maar ’n swaard.
35
For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law.
Want ek is gekom om ’n man teen sy vader te stel, en die dogter teen haar moeder, en die skoondogter teen haar skoonmoeder.
36
And a man’s foes [shall be] they of his own household.
En ’n man se vyande sal die manne van sy eie huis wees.
37
He that loveth father or mother more than me is not worthy of me: and he that loveth son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me.
Hy wat vader of moeder meer liefhet as My, is My nie waardig nie: en hy wat seun of dogter meer liefhet as My, is My nie waardig nie.
38
And he that taketh not his cross, and followeth after me, is not worthy of me.
En hy wat sy kruis nie opneem en My volg nie, is My nie waardig nie.
39
He that findeth his life shall lose it: and he that loseth his life for my sake shall find it.
Hy wat sy lewe vind, sal dit verloor: en hy wat sy lewe om My ontwil verloor, sal dit vind.
40
He that receiveth you receiveth me, and he that receiveth me receiveth him that sent me.
Hy wat julle ontvang, ontvang My, en hy wat My ontvang, ontvang Hom wat My gestuur het.
41
He that receiveth a prophet in the name of a prophet shall receive a prophet’s reward; and he that receiveth a righteous man in the name of a righteous man shall receive a righteous man’s reward.
Hy wat ’n profeet ontvang in die naam van ’n profeet, sal ’n profeet se loon ontvang; en hy wat ’n regverdige ontvang in die naam van ’n regverdige, sal ’n regverdige se loon ontvang.
42
And whosoever shall give to drink unto one of these little ones a cup of cold [water] only in the name of a disciple, verily I say unto you, he shall in no wise lose his reward.
En elkeen wat een van hierdie geringes net ’n beker koue water gee om te drink in die naam van ’n dissipel, voorwaar sê ek vir julle, hy sal geensins sy loon verloor nie.
