And he began to speak unto them by parables. A [certain] man planted a vineyard, and set an hedge about [it], and digged [a place for] the winefat, and built a tower, and let it out to husbandmen, and went into a far country.
En Hy het begin om tot hulle in gelykenisse te spreek. ‚'n Sekere man het ‚'n wingerd geplant, en ‚'n heining daarom gesit, en ‚'n plek uitgegrawe vir die wynpers, en ‚'n toring gebou, en dit aan landbouers verhuur, en in ‚'n ver land gegaan.

And at the season he sent to the husbandmen a servant, that he might receive from the husbandmen of the fruit of the vineyard.
En op die regte tyd het hy ‚'n dienaar na die landbouers gestuur, dat hy van die landbouers van die vrug van die wingerd sou ontvang.

And they caught [him], and beat him, and sent [him] away empty.
En hulle het hom gegryp, en hom geslaan, en hom leëg weggestuur.

And again he sent unto them another servant; and at him they cast stones, and wounded [him] in the head, and sent [him] away shamefully handled.
En weer het hy ‚'n ander dienaar na hulle gestuur; en by hom het hulle klippe gegooi, en sy kop gewond, en hom skandelik weggestuur.

And again he sent another; and him they killed, and many others; beating some, and killing some.
En weer het hy ’n ander gestuur; en hom het hulle doodgemaak, en baie ander; dié geslaan, en dié doodgemaak.

Having yet therefore one son, his wellbeloved, he sent him also last unto them, saying, They will reverence my son.
Omdat hy nog een seun gehad het, sy geliefde, het hy hom ook laastens na hulle gestuur, sê, Hulle sal my seun eerbiedig.

But those husbandmen said among themselves, This is the heir; come, let us kill him, and the inheritance shall be ours.
Maar daardie landbouers het onder mekaar gesê, Dit is die erfgenaam; kom, laat ons hom doodmaak, en die erfenis sal ons s’n wees.

And they took him, and killed [him], and cast [him] out of the vineyard.
En hulle het hom geneem, en hom doodgemaak, en hom uit die wingerd uitgewerp.
9
What shall therefore the lord of the vineyard do? he will come and destroy the husbandmen, and will give the vineyard unto others.
Wat sal dan die heer van die wingerd doen? hy sal kom en die landbouers vernietig, en sal die wingerd aan ander gee.

And have ye not read this scripture; The stone which the builders rejected is become the head of the corner:
En het julle nie hierdie Skrif gelees nie; Die steen wat die bouers verwerp het, is die hoof van die hoek geword:

This was the Lord’s doing, and it is marvellous in our eyes?
Dit was van die Here, en dit is wonderlik in ons oë?

And they sought to lay hold on him, but feared the people: for they knew that he had spoken the parable against them: and they left him, and went their way.
En hulle het gesoek om Hom te gryp, maar hulle het die skare gevrees: want hulle het geweet dat Hy die gelykenis teen hulle gespreek het: en hulle het Hom verlaat, en weggegaan.

And they send unto him certain of the Pharisees and of the Herodians, to catch him in [his] words.
En hulle stuur tot Hom sekere van die Fariseërs en van die Herodiane, om Hom in sy woorde te vang.
14
And when they were come, they say unto him, Master, we know that thou art true, and carest for no man: for thou regardest not the person of men, but teachest the way of God in truth: Is it lawful to give tribute to Caesar, or not?
En toe hulle kom, sê hulle tot Hom, Meester, ons weet dat U waaragtig is, en vir niemand omgee nie: want U let nie op die aangesig van mense nie, maar leer die weg van God in waarheid: Is dit geoorloof om belasting aan die keiser te betaal, of nie?

Shall we give, or shall we not give? But he, knowing their hypocrisy, said unto them, Why tempt ye me? bring me a penny, that I may see [it].
Sal ons betaal, of sal ons nie betaal nie? Maar Hy, hulle geveinsdheid wetende, het tot hulle gesê, Waarom versoek julle My? bring My ’n pennie, dat ek dit mag sien.

And they brought [it]. And he saith unto them, Whose [is] this image and superscription? And they said unto him, Caesar’s.
En hulle het dit gebring. En Hy sê tot hulle, Wie se is hierdie beeld en opskrif? En hulle het tot Hom gesê, Die keiser s’n.

And Jesus answering said unto them, Render to Caesar the things that are Caesar’s, and to God the things that are God’s. And they marvelled at him.
En Jesus het geantwoord en tot hulle gesê, Gee aan die keiser die dinge wat die keiser s’n is, en aan God die dinge wat God s’n is. En hulle het hulle oor Hom verwonder.

Then come unto him the Sadducees, which say there is no resurrection; and they asked him, saying,
Toe kom die Sadduseërs by Hom, wat sê dat daar geen opstanding is nie; en hulle het Hom gevra, sê,
19
Master, Moses wrote unto us, If a man’s brother die, and leave [his] wife [behind him], and leave no children, that his brother should take his wife, and raise up seed unto his brother.
Meester, Moses het vir ons geskrywe, As ‚'n man se broer sterwe, en ‚'n vrou nalaat, en geen kinders nalaat nie, dat sy broer sy vrou moet neem, en saad vir sy broer verwek.

Now there were seven brethren: and the first took a wife, and dying left no seed.
Nou was daar sewe broers: en die eerste het ‚'n vrou geneem, en sterwende geen saad nagelaten nie.
21
And the second took her, and died, neither left he any seed: and the third likewise.
En die tweede het haar geneem, en is gestorwe, en hy het ook geen saad nagelaten nie: en die derde net so.
22
And the seven had her, and left no seed: last of all the woman died also.
En die sewe het haar geneem, en geen saad nagelaten nie: laastens is die vrou ook gestorwe.
23
In the resurrection therefore, when they shall rise, whose wife shall she be of them? for the seven had her to wife.
In die opstanding dan, wanneer hulle sal opstaan, wie se vrou sal sy wees van hulle? want die sewe het haar as vrou gehad.
24
And Jesus answering said unto them, Do ye not therefore err, because ye know not the scriptures, neither the power of God?
En Jesus het geantwoord en tot hulle gesê, Doen julle nie daarom dwaal, omdat julle die Skrifte nie ken nie, en ook nie die krag van God nie?
25
For when they shall rise from the dead, they neither marry, nor are given in marriage; but are as the angels which are in heaven.
Want wanneer hulle uit die dooies sal opstaan, trou hulle nie, en word nie uitgegee in die huwelik nie; maar is soos die engele wat in die hemel is.

And as touching the dead, that they rise: have ye not read in the book of Moses, how in the bush God spake unto him, saying, I [am] the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob?
En aangaande die dooies, dat hulle opstaan: het julle nie in die boek van Moses gelees, hoe God in die bos tot hom gespreek het, sê, Ek is die God van Abraham, en die God van Isak, en die God van Jakob nie?

He is not the God of the dead, but the God of the living: ye therefore do greatly err.
Hy is nie die God van die dooies nie, maar die God van die lewendes: julle doen daarom grootliks dwaal.

And one of the scribes came, and having heard them reasoning together, and perceiving that he had answered them well, asked him, Which is the first commandment of all?
En een van die skrifgeleerdes het gekom, en hulle hoor redeneer, en merkende dat Hy hulle goed geantwoord het, het Hom gevra, Watter is die eerste gebod van almal?

And Jesus answered him, The first of all the commandments [is], Hear, O Israel; The Lord our God is one Lord:
En Jesus het hom geantwoord, Die eerste van al die gebooie is, Hoor, o Israel; Die Here onse God is een Here:
30
And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this [is] the first commandment.
En jy moet die Here jou God liefhê met jou hele hart, en met jou hele siel, en met jou hele verstand, en met jou hele krag: dit is die eerste gebod.
31
And the second [is] like, [namely] this, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. There is none other commandment greater than these.
En die tweede is soos dit, naamlik hierdie, Jy moet jou naaste liefhê soos jouself. Daar is geen ander gebod groter as hierdie nie.

And the scribe said unto him, Well, Master, thou hast said the truth: for there is one God; and there is none other but he:
En die skrifgeleerde het tot Hom gesê, Goed, Meester, U het die waarheid gesê: want daar is een God; en daar is geen ander behalwe Hom nie:
33
And to love him with all the heart, and with all the understanding, and with all the soul, and with all the strength, and to love [his] neighbour as himself, is more than all whole burnt offerings and sacrifices.
En om Hom lief te hê met die hele hart, en met die hele verstand, en met die hele siel, en met die hele krag, en om sy naaste lief te hê soos homself, is meer as al die heel brandoffers en offers.

And when Jesus saw that he answered discreetly, he said unto him, Thou art not far from the kingdom of God. And no man after that durst ask him [any question].
En toe Jesus sien dat hy verstandig geantwoord het, het Hy tot hom gesê, Jy is nie ver van die koninkryk van God nie. En niemand het Hom daarna meer durf vra nie.

And Jesus answered and said, while he taught in the temple, How say the scribes that Christ is the Son of David?
En Jesus het geantwoord en gesê, terwyl Hy in die tempel geleer het, Hoe sê die skrifgeleerdes dat Christus die Seun van Dawid is?

For David himself said by the Holy Ghost, The LORD said to my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand, till I make thine enemies thy footstool.
Want Dawid self het deur die Heilige Gees gesê, Die HERE het tot my Here gesê, Sit aan my regterhand, totdat ek u vyande u voetbank maak.

David therefore himself calleth him Lord; and whence is he [then] his son? And the common people heard him gladly.
Dawid self noem Hom daarom Here; en van waar is Hy dan sy seun? En die gemeenskaplike mense het Hom graag gehoor.
38
And he said unto them in his doctrine, Beware of the scribes, which love to go in long clothing, and [love] salutations in the marketplaces,
En Hy het tot hulle gesê in sy leer, Pas op vir die skrifgeleerdes, wat daarvan hou om in lang klere te wandel, en groete in die markte te hê,
39
And the chief seats in the synagogues, and the uppermost rooms at feasts:
En die voorste sitplekke in die sinagoges, en die voorste sitplekke by die feeste:
40
Which devour widows’ houses, and for a pretence make long prayers: these shall receive greater damnation.
Wat die weduwees se huise opeet, en vir ‚'n skyn lank bid: hierdie sal die groter veroordeling ontvang.
41
And Jesus sat over against the treasury, and beheld how the people cast money into the treasury: and many that were rich cast in much.
En Jesus het teenoor die skatkis gaan sit, en gesien hoe die mense geld in die skatkis gooi: en baie rykes het baie ingegooi.
42
And there came a certain poor widow, and she threw in two mites, which make a farthing.
En daar het ‚'n sekere arme weduwee gekom, en twee klein muntstukkies, wat ‚'n farthing maak, ingegooi.
43
And he called [unto him] his disciples, and saith unto them, Verily I say unto you, That this poor widow hath cast more in, than all they which have cast into the treasury:
En Hy het sy dissipels by Hom geroep, en tot hulle gesê, Voorwaar sê ek vir julle, Dat hierdie arme weduwee meer ingegooi het as almal wat in die skatkis ingegooi het:
44
For all [they] did cast in of their abundance; but she of her want did cast in all that she had, [even] all her living.
Want hulle almal het van hulle oorvloed ingegooi; maar sy van haar armoede het alles ingegooi wat sy gehad het, selfs haar hele lewensonderhoud.
