And he looked up, and saw the rich men casting their gifts into the treasury.
En Hy het opgekyk, en die rykes sien hulle gawes in die skatkis gooi.

And he saw also a certain poor widow casting in thither two mites.
En Hy het ook ’n sekere arme weduwee sien twee klein muntstukkies daarin gooi.

And he said, Of a truth I say unto you, that this poor widow hath cast in more than they all:
En Hy het gesê, Waarlik ek sê vir julle, dat hierdie arme weduwee meer as almal ingegooi het:
4
For all these have of their abundance cast in unto the offerings of God: but she of her penury hath cast in all the living that she had.
Want al hierdie het van hulle oorvloed by die offers van God bygevoeg: maar sy van haar armoede het al die lewensonderhoud wat sy gehad het, ingegooi.

And as some spake of the temple, how it was adorned with goodly stones and gifts, he said,
En soos sommige van die tempel gespreek het, hoe dit versier was met mooi stene en gawes, het Hy gesê,

[As for] these things which ye behold, the days will come, in the which there shall not be left one stone upon another, that shall not be thrown down.
Wat hierdie dinge betref wat julle aanskou, die dae sal kom, waarin daar nie een steen op die ander gelaat sal word wat nie afgebreek sal word nie.

And they asked him, saying, Master, but when shall these things be? and what sign [will there be] when these things shall come to pass?
En hulle het Hom gevra, sê, Meester, maar wanneer sal hierdie dinge wees? en watter teken sal daar wees wanneer hierdie dinge sal gebeur?
8
And he said, Take heed that ye be not deceived: for many shall come in my name, saying, I am [Christ]; and the time draweth near: go ye not therefore after them.
En Hy het gesê, Pas op dat julle nie mislei word nie: want baie sal in my Naam kom, sê, Ek is Christus; en die tyd is naby: gaan julle daarom nie agter hulle aan nie.

But when ye shall hear of wars and commotions, be not terrified: for these things must first come to pass; but the end [is] not by and by.
Maar wanneer julle van oorloë en oproere hoor, wees nie verskrik nie: want hierdie dinge moet eers gebeur; maar die einde is nie dadelik nie.
10
Then said he unto them, Nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom:
Toe het Hy tot hulle gesê, Nasie sal teen nasie opstaan, en koninkryk teen koninkryk:
11
And great earthquakes shall be in divers places, and famines, and pestilences; and fearful sights and great signs shall there be from heaven.
En daar sal groot aardbewings wees in verskillende plekke, en hongersnode, en peste; en verskriklike verskynsels en groot tekens sal daar uit die hemel wees.
12
But before all these, they shall lay their hands on you, and persecute [you], delivering [you] up to the synagogues, and into prisons, being brought before kings and rulers for my name’s sake.
Maar voor al hierdie dinge sal hulle hande op julle lê, en julle vervolg, en julle oorgee aan die sinagoges, en in gevangenisse, en julle voor konings en heersers bring om my Naam ontwil.

And it shall turn to you for a testimony.
En dit sal vir julle tot ’n getuienis uitdraai.
14
Settle [it] therefore in your hearts, not to meditate before what ye shall answer:
Neem daarom in julle harte vas, om nie vooruit te bedink wat julle sal antwoord nie:
15
For I will give you a mouth and wisdom, which all your adversaries shall not be able to gainsay nor resist.
Want ek sal julle ’n mond en wysheid gee, wat al julle teëstanders nie sal kan weerspreek of weerstaan nie.
16
And ye shall be betrayed both by parents, and brethren, and kinsfolks, and friends; and [some] of you shall they cause to be put to death.
En julle sal oorgelewer word selfs deur ouers, en broers, en familie, en vriende; en sommige van julle sal hulle laat doodmaak.
17
And ye shall be hated of all [men] for my name’s sake.
En julle sal deur almal gehaat word om my Naam ontwil.
18
But there shall not an hair of your head perish.
Maar daar sal nie ’n haar van julle hoof verlore gaan nie.
19
In your patience possess ye your souls.
In julle volharding besit julle julle siele.
20
And when ye shall see Jerusalem compassed with armies, then know that the desolation thereof is nigh.
En wanneer julle Jérusalem sien omsingel deur leërs, weet dan dat die verwoesting daarvan naby is.
21
Then let them which are in Judaea flee to the mountains; and let them which are in the midst of it depart out; and let not them that are in the countries enter thereinto.
Laat dié wat in Judea is dan na die berge vlug; en laat dié wat in die midde daarvan is, uitgaan; en laat dié wat in die lande is, nie daarin ingaan nie.
22
For these be the days of vengeance, that all things which are written may be fulfilled.
Want dit is die dae van wraak, dat al die dinge wat geskrywe is, vervul mag word.
23
But woe unto them that are with child, and to them that give suck, in those days! for there shall be great distress in the land, and wrath upon this people.
Maar wee hulle wat swanger is, en dié wat soog, in daardie dae! want daar sal groot nood in die land wees, en toorn oor hierdie volk.
24
And they shall fall by the edge of the sword, and shall be led away captive into all nations: and Jerusalem shall be trodden down of the Gentiles, until the times of the Gentiles be fulfilled.
En hulle sal val deur die skerpte van die swaard, en as gevangenes weggevoer word onder al die nasies: en Jérusalem sal vertrap word deur die heidene, totdat die tye van die heidene vervul is.

And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring;
En daar sal tekens wees in die son, en in die maan, en in die sterre; en op die aarde benoudheid van nasies, met verwarring; die see en die golwe sal bruis;
26
Men’s hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken.
Die mens se harte sal beweeg word van vrees, en van die verwagting van daardie dinge wat oor die aarde kom: want die kragte van die hemele sal geskud word.
27
And then shall they see the Son of man coming in a cloud with power and great glory.
En dan sal hulle die Seun van die mens sien kom in ’n wolk met krag en groot heerlikheid.
28
And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh.
En wanneer hierdie dinge begin om te gebeur, kyk dan op, en hef julle hoofde op; want julle verlossing is naby.
29
And he spake to them a parable; Behold the fig tree, and all the trees;
En Hy het ’n gelykenis tot hulle gespreek; Kyk die vyeboom, en al die bome;
30
When they now shoot forth, ye see and know of your own selves that summer is now nigh at hand.
Wanneer hulle nou uitspruit, sien julle en weet van julle self dat die somer nou naby is.
31
So likewise ye, when ye see these things come to pass, know ye that the kingdom of God is nigh at hand.
So julle ook, wanneer julle hierdie dinge sien gebeur, weet dat die koninkryk van God naby is.
32
Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass away, till all be fulfilled.
Voorwaar sê ek vir julle, Hierdie geslag sal nie verbygaan nie, totdat alles vervul is.
33
Heaven and earth shall pass away: but my words shall not pass away.
Die hemel en die aarde sal verbygaan: maar my woorde sal nie verbygaan nie.
34
And take heed to yourselves, lest at any time your hearts be overcharged with surfeiting, and drunkenness, and cares of this life, and [so] that day come upon you unawares.
En gee ag op julle self, dat julle harte nie te eniger tyd beswaar word met ooreet, en dronkenskap, en sorg van hierdie lewe nie, en so daardie dag onverwags oor julle kom.

For as a snare shall it come on all them that dwell on the face of the whole earth.
Want soos ’n strik sal dit kom op almal wat op die aangesig van die hele aarde woon.
36
Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man.
Waak julle daarom altyd, en bid, dat julle waardig geag mag word om al hierdie dinge wat sal gebeur, te ontvlug, en om te staan voor die Seun van die mens.

And in the day time he was teaching in the temple; and at night he went out, and abode in the mount that is called [the mount] of Olives.
En in die dag het Hy in die tempel geleer; en in die nag het Hy uitgegaan, en op die berg genaamd die Olyfberg vertoef.
38
And all the people came early in the morning to him in the temple, for to hear him.
En die hele volk het vroeg in die môre by Hom in die tempel gekom om Hom te hoor.
