Now after the death of Moses the servant of the LORD it came to pass, that the LORD spake unto Joshua the son of Nun, Moses’ minister, saying,
En dit het gebeur ná die dood van Moses die dienaar van die HERE, dat die HERE tot Josua die seun van Nun, Moses se dienaar, gespreek het, en gesê,

Moses my servant is dead; now therefore arise, go over this Jordan, thou, and all this people, unto the land which I do give to them, [even] to the children of Israel.
Moses my dienaar is dood; staan nou op, trek oor hierdie Jordaan, jy, en al hierdie volk, in die land wat ek aan hulle, selfs aan die kinders van Israel, gee.

Every place that the sole of your foot shall tread upon, that have I given unto you, as I said unto Moses.
Elke plek wat die sool van julle voet sal betree, dit het ek aan julle gegee, soos ek tot Moses gesê het.
4
From the wilderness and this Lebanon even unto the great river, the river Euphrates, all the land of the Hittites, and unto the great sea toward the going down of the sun, shall be your coast.
Van die wildernis en hierdie Líbanon af selfs tot by die groot rivier, die rivier Eufraat, die hele land van die Hetiete, en tot by die groot see na die ondergang van die son, moet julle kus wees.

There shall not any man be able to stand before thee all the days of thy life: as I was with Moses, [so] I will be with thee: I will not fail thee, nor forsake thee.
Daar sal niemand voor jou standhou al die dae van jou lewe nie: soos ek met Moses was, so sal ek met jou wees: ek sal jou nie faal, of jou verlaat nie.

Be strong and of a good courage: for unto this people shalt thou divide for an inheritance the land, which I sware unto their fathers to give them.
Wees sterk en van goeie moed: want aan hierdie volk moet jy die land as erfenis verdeel wat ek aan hulle vaders met ‚'n eed beloof het om aan hulle te gee.

Only be thou strong and very courageous, that thou mayest observe to do according to all the law, which Moses my servant commanded thee: turn not from it [to] the right hand or [to] the left, that thou mayest prosper whithersoever thou goest.
Net wees sterk en baie moedig, dat jy sorgvuldig mag doen volgens die hele wet, wat Moses my dienaar jou beveel het: moenie daarvan regs of links afwyk nie, dat jy mag voorspoedig wees waarheen jy ook al gaan.

This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.
Hierdie boek van die wet mag nie uit jou mond wyk nie; maar jy moet daarin dag en nag peins, dat jy sorgvuldig mag doen volgens alles wat daarin geskrywe is: want dan moet jy jou weg voorspoedig maak, en dan moet jy goeie voorspoed hê.

Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the LORD thy God [is] with thee whithersoever thou goest.
Het ek jou nie beveel nie? Wees sterk en van goeie moed; wees nie bevrees, of wees nie ontmoedig nie: want die HERE jou God is met jou waarheen jy ook al gaan.

Then Joshua commanded the officers of the people, saying,
Toe het Josua die amptenare van die volk beveel, en gesê,
11
Pass through the host, and command the people, saying, Prepare you victuals; for within three days ye shall pass over this Jordan, to go in to possess the land, which the LORD your God giveth you to possess it.
Gaan deur die leër, en beveel die volk, en sê, Berei vir julle die prooi; want binne drie dae moet julle oor hierdie Jordaan trek, om in te gaan om die land te besit, wat die HERE julle God julle gee om te besit.

And to the Reubenites, and to the Gadites, and to half the tribe of Manasseh, spake Joshua, saying,
En tot die Rubeniete, en tot die Gadiete, en tot die halfstam van Manasse, het Josua gespreek, en gesê,
13
Remember the word which Moses the servant of the LORD commanded you, saying, The LORD your God hath given you rest, and hath given you this land.
Gedenk die woord wat Moses die dienaar van die HERE julle beveel het, en gesê het, Die HERE julle God het julle rus gegee, en julle hierdie land gegee.
14
Your wives, your little ones, and your cattle, shall remain in the land which Moses gave you on this side Jordan; but ye shall pass before your brethren armed, all the mighty men of valour, and help them;
Julle vroue, julle kinders, en julle vee, moet in die land bly wat Moses julle aan hierdie kant van die Jordaan gegee het; maar julle moet gewapen voor julle broers oortrek, al julle dapper manne, en hulle help;

Until the LORD have given your brethren rest, as [he hath given] you, and they also have possessed the land which the LORD your God giveth them: then ye shall return unto the land of your possession, and enjoy it, which Moses the LORD’S servant gave you on this side Jordan toward the sunrising.
Totdat die HERE aan julle broers rus gee, soos aan julle, en hulle ook die land besit het wat die HERE julle God hulle gee: dan moet julle terugkeer na die land van julle besitting, en dit besit, wat Moses die dienaar van die HERE julle gegee het aan hierdie kant van die Jordaan na die sonop.

And they answered Joshua, saying, All that thou commandest us we will do, and whithersoever thou sendest us, we will go.
En hulle het Josua geantwoord, en gesê, Alles wat jy ons beveel, sal ons doen, en waarheen jy ons ook al stuur, sal ons gaan.
17
According as we hearkened unto Moses in all things, so will we hearken unto thee: only the LORD thy God be with thee, as he was with Moses.
Soos ons Moses in alles gehoorsaam was, so sal ons jou gehoorsaam wees: net die HERE jou God moet met jou wees, soos Hy met Moses was.
18
Whosoever [he be] that doth rebel against thy commandment, and will not hearken unto thy words in all that thou commandest him, he shall be put to death: only be strong and of a good courage.
Elkeen wat teen jou bevel onwillig is, en nie na jou woorde luister in alles wat jy hom beveel nie, moet gedood word: net wees sterk en van goeie moed.
