I am the true vine, and my Father is the husbandman.

Ek is die ware wynstok, en my Vader is die landman.

2

Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away: and every [branch] that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit.

Elke rank in My wat nie vrug dra nie, neem Hy weg: en elke rank wat vrug dra, reinig Hy, dat dit meer vrug mag dra.

Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you.

Julle is alreeds rein deur die woord wat ek tot julle gespreek het.

Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me.

Bly in My, en ek in julle. Soos die rank geen vrug uit homself kan dra nie, tensy dit in die wynstok bly; so ook julle nie, tensy julle in My bly.

I am the vine, ye [are] the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.

Ek is die wynstok, julle is die ranke: Hy wat in My bly, en ek in hom, dieselfde dra baie vrug: want sonder My kan julle niks doen nie.

If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast [them] into the fire, and they are burned.

As iemand nie in My bly nie, word hy uitgewerp soos ‚'n rank, en verdor; en hulle maak hulle bymekaar, en gooi hulle in die vuur, en hulle word verbrand.

If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.

As julle in My bly, en my woorde in julle bly, sal julle vra wat julle wil, en dit sal aan julle gedoen word.

8

Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; so shall ye be my disciples.

Hierin is my Vader verheerlik, dat julle baie vrug dra; so sal julle my dissipels wees.

9

As the Father hath loved me, so have I loved you: continue ye in my love.

Soos die Vader My liefgehad het, so het ek julle ook liefgehad: bly in my liefde.

10

If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father’s commandments, and abide in his love.

As julle my gebooie bewaar, sal julle in my liefde bly; soos ek my Vader se gebooie bewaar het, en in sy liefde bly.

11

These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you, and [that] your joy might be full.

Hierdie dinge het ek tot julle gespreek, dat my blydskap in julle mag bly, en dat julle blydskap vol mag wees.

12

This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you.

Dit is my gebod, Dat julle mekaar moet liefhê, soos ek julle liefgehad het.

13

Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.

Groter liefde as dit het niemand nie, dat iemand sy lewe aflê vir sy vriende.

14

Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you.

Julle is my vriende, as julle doen wat ek julle beveel.

15

Henceforth I call you not servants; for the servant knoweth not what his lord doeth: but I have called you friends; for all things that I have heard of my Father I have made known unto you.

Voortaan noem ek julle nie dienaars nie; want die dienaar weet nie wat sy heer doen nie: maar ek het julle vriende genoem; want alles wat ek van my Vader gehoor het, het ek aan julle bekend gemaak.

Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and [that] your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you.

Julle het My nie uitverkies nie, maar ek het julle uitverkies, en julle aangestel, dat julle moet uitgaan en vrug dra, en dat julle vrug moet bly: dat wat julle ook al die Vader in my Naam vra, Hy dit aan julle mag gee.

These things I command you, that ye love one another.

Hierdie dinge beveel ek julle, dat julle mekaar moet liefhê.

18

If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before [it hated] you.

As die wêreld julle haat, weet julle dat hy My voor julle gehaat het.

19

If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you.

As julle van die wêreld was, sou die wêreld sy eie liefhê: maar omdat julle nie van die wêreld is nie, maar ek julle uit die wêreld uitverkies het, daarom haat die wêreld julle.

20

Remember the word that I said unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord. If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you; if they have kept my saying, they will keep yours also.

Onthou die woord wat ek tot julle gesê het, Die dienaar is nie groter as sy heer nie. As hulle My vervolg het, sal hulle julle ook vervolg; as hulle my woord bewaar het, sal hulle julle s’n ook bewaar.

But all these things will they do unto you for my name’s sake, because they know not him that sent me.

Maar al hierdie dinge sal hulle aan julle doen om my Naam ontwil, omdat hulle Hom nie ken nie wat My gestuur het.

22

If I had not come and spoken unto them, they had not had sin: but now they have no cloke for their sin.

As ek nie gekom en tot hulle gespreek het nie, sou hulle geen sonde gehad het nie: maar nou het hulle geen dekmantel vir hulle sonde nie.

23

He that hateth me hateth my Father also.

Hy wat My haat, haat ook my Vader.

24

If I had not done among them the works which none other man did, they had not had sin: but now have they both seen and hated both me and my Father.

As ek nie die werke onder hulle gedoen het wat geen ander man gedoen het nie, sou hulle geen sonde gehad het nie: maar nou het hulle beide gesien en gehaat beide My en my Vader.

But [this cometh to pass], that the word might be fulfilled that is written in their law, They hated me without a cause.

Maar dit is gebeur, dat die woord vervul mag word wat in hulle wet geskrywe is, Hulle het My sonder oorsaak gehaat.

26

But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, [even] the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, he shall testify of me:

Maar wanneer die Trooster kom, wat ek julle van die Vader sal stuur, selfs die Gees van die waarheid, wat van die Vader uitgaan, sal Hy van My getuig:

And ye also shall bear witness, because ye have been with me from the beginning.

En julle sal ook getuig, omdat julle van die begin af by My is.
