Against Moab thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Woe unto Nebo! for it is spoiled: Kiriathaim is confounded [and] taken: Misgab is confounded and dismayed.
Teen Moab so sê die HERE van leërskare, die God van Israel; Wee aan Nebo! want dit is verwoes: Kirjataim is beskaamd en ingeneem: Misgab is beskaamd en ontsteld.

[There shall be] no more praise of Moab: in Heshbon they have devised evil against it; come, and let us cut it off from [being] a nation. Also thou shalt be cut down, O Madmen; the sword shall pursue thee.
Daar sal geen meer lof van Moab wees nie: in Hesbon het hulle kwaad teen dit bedink, sê, Kom, en laat ons dit afsny van om ’n nasie te wees. Ook sal jy stil wees, o Madmen; die swaard sal jou agtervolg.

A voice of crying [shall be] from Horonaim, spoiling and great destruction.
’n Stem van geroep sal uit Horonáim wees, verwoesting en groot vernietiging.
4
Moab is destroyed; her little ones have caused a cry to be heard.
Moab is vernietig; haar kleinones het ‚'n geroep laat hoor.
5
For in the going up of Luhith continual weeping shall go up; for in the going down of Horonaim the enemies have heard a cry of destruction.
Want in die opgang van Luhit sal voortdurende geween opgaan; want in die afgaan van Horonáim het die vyande ’n geroep van vernietiging gehoor.
6
Flee, save your lives, and be like the heath in the wilderness.
Vlug, red julle lewens, en wees soos die heide in die wildernis.
7
For because thou hast trusted in thy works and in thy treasures, thou shalt also be taken: and Chemosh shall go forth into captivity [with] his priests and his princes together.
Want omdat jy op jou werke en op jou skatte vertrou het, sal jy ook geneem word: en Kamos sal in gevangenisskap uitgaan, sy priesters en sy vorstes saam.

And the spoiler shall come upon every city, and no city shall escape: the valley also shall perish, and the plain shall be destroyed, as the LORD hath spoken.
En die verwoester sal op elke stad kom, en geen stad sal ontvlug nie: die vallei sal ook vergaan, en die vlakte vernietig word, soos die HERE gesê het.

Give wings unto Moab, that it may flee and get away: for the cities thereof shall be desolate, without any to dwell therein.
Gee vlerke aan Moab, dat dit mag vlug en wegkom: want die stede daarvan sal verwoes word, sonder enige om daarin te woon.
10
Cursed [be] he that doeth the work of the LORD deceitfully, and cursed [be] he that keepeth back his sword from blood.
Vervloek is hy wat die werk van die HERE bedrieglik doen, en vervloek is hy wat sy swaard van bloed weerhou.
11
Moab hath been at ease from his youth, and he hath settled on his lees, and hath not been emptied from vessel to vessel, neither hath he gone into captivity: therefore his taste remained in him, and his scent is not changed.
Moab was van sy jeug af gerus, en hy het op sy droesem gerus, en is nie van vat tot vat uitgegooi nie, en hy het nie in gevangenisskap gegaan nie: daarom het sy smaak in hom gebly, en sy reuk is nie verander nie.

Therefore, behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will send unto him wanderers, that shall cause him to wander, and shall empty his vessels, and break their bottles.
Daarom, kyk, die dae kom, sê die HERE, dat ek vir hom swerwers sal stuur, wat hom sal laat swerf, en sy vate leegmaak, en sy bottels stukkend slaan.
13
And Moab shall be ashamed of Chemosh, as the house of Israel was ashamed of Bethel their confidence.
En Moab sal beskaamd word vir Kamos, soos die huis van Israel beskaamd was vir Bet-El hulle vertroue.
14
How say ye, We [are] mighty and strong men for the war?
Hoe sê julle, Ons is magtig en sterk manne vir die oorlog?
15
Moab is spoiled, and gone up [out of] her cities, and his chosen young men are gone down to the slaughter, saith the King, whose name [is] the LORD of hosts.
Moab is verwoes, en is uit sy stede opgegaan, en sy uitverkore jongmanne is afgegaan tot die slagting, sê die Koning, wie se Naam is die HERE van leërskare.
16
The calamity of Moab [is] near to come, and his affliction hasteth fast.
Die ramp van Moab is naby om te kom, en sy smart haastig.
17
All ye that are about him, bemoan him; and all ye that know his name, say, How is the strong staff broken, [and] the beautiful rod!
Al julle wat rondom hom is, weeklaag vir hom; en al julle wat sy naam ken, sê, Hoe is die sterk staf verbreek, en die pragtige roede!
18
Thou daughter that dost inhabit Dibon, come down from [thy] glory, and sit in thirst; for the spoiler of Moab shall come upon thee, [and] he shall destroy thy strong holds.
Jy dogter wat in Dibon woon, kom af van jou heerlikheid, en sit in dors; want die verwoester van Moab sal op jou kom, en hy sal jou vestings vernietig.
19
O inhabitant of Aroer, stand by the way, and espy; ask him that fleeth, and her that escapeth, [and] say, What is done?
O inwoner van Aroër, staan by die pad, en kyk; vra hom wat vlug, en haar wat ontvlug, en sê, Wat is gebeur?
20
Moab is confounded; for it is broken down: howl and cry; tell ye it in Arnon, that Moab is spoiled,
Moab is beskaamd; want dit is afgebreek: huil en roep; verklaar julle in Arnon, dat Moab is verwoes,
21
And judgment is come upon the plain country; upon Holon, and upon Jahazah, and upon Mephaath,
En oordeel is gekom op die vlakte land; op Holon, en op Jahas, en op Mefaät,
22
And upon Dibon, and upon Nebo, and upon Bethdiblathaim,
En op Dibon, en op Nebo, en op Bet-Díblataim,
23
And upon Kiriathaim, and upon Bethgamul, and upon Bethmeon,
En op Kirjataim, en op Bet-Gamul, en op Bet-Meon,
24
And upon Kerioth, and upon Bozrah, and upon all the cities of the land of Moab, far or near.
En op Kerijot, en op Bosra, en op al die stede van die land van Moab, ver of naby.
25
The horn of Moab is cut off, and his arm is broken, saith the LORD.
Die horing van Moab is afgekap, en sy arm is verbreek, sê die HERE.
26
Make ye him drunken: for he magnified [himself] against the LORD: Moab also shall wallow in his vomit, and he also shall be in derision.
Maak hom dronk: want hy het homself teen die HERE grootgemaak: Moab sal ook in sy braaksel rol, en hy sal ook ‚'n bespotting wees.
27
For was not Israel a derision unto thee? was he found among thieves? for since thou spakest of him, thou skippedst for joy.
Want was Israel nie ‚'n bespotting vir jou nie? is hy onder diewe gevind? want sedert jy van hom gespreek het, het jy gespring van vreugde.
28
O ye that dwell in Moab, leave the cities, and dwell in the rock, and be like the dove [that] maketh her nest in the sides of the hole’s mouth.
O julle wat in Moab woon, verlaat die stede, en woon in die rots, en wees soos die duif wat haar nes in die kante van die gat van die mond maak.
29
We have heard the pride of Moab, (he is exceeding proud) his loftiness, and his arrogancy, and his pride, and the haughtiness of his heart.
Ons het die trotsheid van Moab gehoor, (hy is baie trots) sy hoogmoed, en sy trotsheid, en sy arrogansie, en die hoogheid van sy hart.
30
I know his wrath, saith the LORD; but [it shall] not [be] so; his lies shall not so effect [it].
Ek ken sy toorn, sê die HERE; maar dit sal nie so wees nie; sy leuens sal nie so uitwerk nie.
31
Therefore will I howl for Moab, and I will cry out for all Moab; [mine heart] shall mourn for the men of Kirheres.
Daarom sal ek vir Moab huil, ja, ek sal vir die hele Moab roep: my hart sal treur vir die manne van Kir-Heres.
32
O vine of Sibmah, I will weep for thee with the weeping of Jazer: thy plants are gone over the sea, they reach [even] to the sea of Jazer: the spoiler is fallen upon thy summer fruits and upon thy vintage.
O wingerdstok van Sibma, ek sal vir jou meer ween as vir Jaeser: jou takke is oor die see gegaan, hulle reik tot by die see van Jaeser: die verwoester is op jou somervrugte en op jou wynoes geval.
33
And joy and gladness is taken from the plentiful field, and from the land of Moab; and I have caused wine to fail from the winepresses: none shall tread with shouting; [their] shouting [shall be] no shouting.
En vreugde en blydskap is uit die vrugbare veld, en uit die land van Moab, weggeneem; en ek het die wyn uit die wineperse laat ophou: niemand sal met sing trap nie; hulle sing sal nie sing wees nie.
34
From the cry of Heshbon [even] unto Elealeh, [and even] unto Jahaz, have they uttered their voice, from Zoar [even] unto Horonaim, [as] an heifer of three years old: for the waters also of Nimrim shall be desolate.
Van die geroep van Hesbon selfs tot Eleále, en selfs tot Jahas, het hulle hulle stem laat hoor, van Soar selfs tot Horonáim, soos ’n driejarige vers: want die waters van Nimrim sal ook verwoes word.
35
Moreover I will cause to cease in Moab, saith the LORD, him that offereth in the high places, and him that burneth incense to his gods.
Bowendien sal ek in Moab, sê die HERE, hom laat ophou wat offer in die hoë plekke, en hom wat wierook aan sy gode brand.
36
Therefore mine heart shall sound for Moab like pipes, and mine heart shall sound like pipes for the men of Kirheres: because the riches [that] he hath gotten are perished.
Daarom sal my hart vir Moab soos pype klink, en my hart sal vir die manne van Kir-Heres soos pype klink: omdat die rykdom wat hy verkry het, vergaan is.
37
For every head [shall be] bald, and every beard clipped: upon all the hands [shall be] cuttings, and upon the loins sackcloth.
Want elke kop sal kaal wees, en elke baard afgesny: op al die hande sal snye wees, en op die lendene sakdoek.
38
[There shall be] lamentation generally upon all the housetops of Moab, and in the streets thereof: for I have broken Moab like a vessel wherein [is] no pleasure, saith the LORD.
Daar sal ’n algemene weeklag wees op al die dakke van Moab, en in die strate daarvan: want ek het Moab verbreek soos ’n vat waarin daar geen behae is nie, sê die HERE.
39
They shall howl, [saying], How is it broken down! how hath Moab turned the back with shame! so shall Moab be a derision and a dismaying to all them about him.
Hulle sal huil, sê, Hoe is dit verbreek! hoe het Moab die rug in skaamte gedraai! so sal Moab ’n bespotting en ’n verskrikking wees vir almal wat rondom hom is.
40
For thus saith the LORD; Behold, he shall fly as an eagle, and shall spread his wings over Moab.
Want so sê die HERE; Kyk, hy sal soos ’n arend vlieg, en sy vlerke teen Moab uitsprei.
41
Kerioth is taken, and the strong holds are surprised, and the mighty men’s hearts in Moab at that day shall be as the heart of a woman in her pangs.
Kerijot is ingeneem, en die vestings is verras, en die magtiges se harte in Moab in daardie dag sal wees soos die hart van ‚'n vrou in barensnood.
42
And Moab shall be destroyed from [being] a people, because he hath magnified [himself] against the LORD.
En Moab sal vernietig word van om ‚'n volk te wees, omdat hy homself teen die HERE grootgemaak het.
43
Fear, and the pit, and the snare, [shall be] upon thee, O inhabitant of Moab, saith the LORD.
Vrees, en die put, en die strik, sal op jou wees, o inwoner van Moab, sê die HERE.
44
He that fleeth from the fear shall fall into the pit; and he that getteth up out of the pit shall be taken in the snare: for I will bring upon it, [even] upon Moab, the year of their visitation, saith the LORD.
Hy wat van die vrees vlug, sal in die put val; en hy wat uit die put uitkom, sal in die strik gevang word: want ek sal daaroor, selfs op Moab, die jaar van hulle besoeking bring, sê die HERE.
45
They that fled stood under the shadow of Heshbon because of the force: but a fire shall come forth out of Heshbon, and a flame from the midst of Sihon, and shall devour the corner of Moab, and the crown of the head of the tumultuous ones.
Dié wat van die mag van die swaard gevlug het, het onder die skaduwee van Hesbon gestaan: maar ’n vuur sal uit Hesbon uitgaan, en ’n vlam uit die midde van Sihon, en sal die hoek van Moab verteer, en die kruin van die hoofde van die tumultueuse.
46
Woe be unto thee, O Moab! the people of Chemosh perisheth: for thy sons are taken captives, and thy daughters captives.
Wee jou, o Moab! die volk van Kamos vergaan: want jou seuns is as gevangenes geneem, en jou dogters as gevangenes.
47
Yet will I bring again the captivity of Moab in the latter days, saith the LORD. Thus far [is] the judgment of Moab.
Tog sal ek die gevangenisskap van Moab in die laaste dae terugbring, sê die HERE. Tot hiertoe is die oordeel van Moab.
