As [when] the melting fire burneth, the fire causeth the waters to boil, to make thy name known to thine adversaries, [that] the nations may tremble at thy presence!
Soos wanneer die vuur die bosse brand, die vuur die waters laat kook, om u Naam aan u teëstanders bekend te maak, dat die nasies by u teenwoordigheid mag bewe!

When thou didst terrible things [which] we looked not for, thou camest down, the mountains flowed down at thy presence.
Wanneer U vreeslike dinge gedoen het wat ons nie verwag het nie, het U neergedaal, die berge het by u teenwoordigheid gevloei.

For since the beginning of the world [men] have not heard, nor perceived by the ear, neither hath the eye seen, O God, beside thee, [what] he hath prepared for him that waiteth for him.
Want van die begin van die wêreld af het die mens nie gehoor, en nie met die oor waargeneem nie, en die oog het nie ’n God gesien behalwe U nie, wat vir hom werk wat op Hom wag.

Thou meetest him that rejoiceth and worketh righteousness, [those that] remember thee in thy ways: behold, thou art wroth; for we have sinned: in those is continuance, and we shall be saved.
U ontmoet hom wat juig en geregtigheid doen, dié wat U in u weë onthou: kyk, U is toornig; want ons het gesondig: in daardie is voortsetting, en ons sal gered word.

But we are all as an unclean [thing], and all our righteousnesses [are] as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away.
Maar ons is almal soos ‚'n onreine ding, en al ons geregtighede is soos vuil klere; en ons almal verwelk soos ‚'n blaar; en ons ongeregtighede, soos die wind, het ons weggeneem.

And [there is] none that calleth upon thy name, that stirreth up himself to take hold of thee: for thou hast hid thy face from us, and hast consumed us, because of our iniquities.
En daar is niemand wat u Naam aanroep, wat homself opwek om U aan te gryp nie: want U het u aangesig van ons verberg, en het ons verteer vanweë ons ongeregtighede.

But now, O LORD, thou [art] our father; we [are] the clay, and thou our potter; and we all [are] the work of thy hand.
Maar nou, o HERE, U is ons vader; ons is die klei, en U ons pottebakker; en ons almal is die werk van u hand.

Be not wroth very sore, O LORD, neither remember iniquity for ever: behold, see, we beseech thee, we [are] all thy people.
Wees nie tot die uiterste toornig nie, o HERE, en onthou nie die ongeregtigheid vir ewig nie: kyk, aanskou, ons bid U, ons is almal u volk.

Thy holy cities are a wilderness, Zion is a wilderness, Jerusalem a desolation.
U heilige stede is ’n wildernis, Sion is ’n wildernis, Jérusalem ’n verwoesting.

Our holy and our beautiful house, where our fathers praised thee, is burned up with fire: and all our pleasant things are laid waste.
Ons heilige en ons pragtige huis, waar ons vaders U geprys het, is met vuur verbrand: en al ons aangename dinge is verwoes.

Wilt thou refrain thyself for these [things], O LORD? wilt thou hold thy peace, and afflict us very sore?
Sal U Uself by hierdie dinge weerhou, o HERE? sal U stilhou, en ons tot die uiterste teister?
