Bel boweth down, Nebo stoopeth, their idols were upon the beasts, and upon the cattle: your carriages [were] heavy loaden; [they are] a burden to the weary [beast].
Bel buig neer, Nebo krom; hulle afgode was op die diere, en op die vee: julle vragte was swaar; hulle is ‚'n las vir die moeg dier.

They stoop, they bow down together; they could not deliver the burden, but themselves are gone into captivity.
Hulle krom, hulle buig saam; hulle kon die las nie red nie, maar self is hulle in gevangenisskap gegaan.

Hearken unto me, O house of Jacob, and all the remnant of the house of Israel, which are borne [by me] from the belly, which are carried from the womb:
Luister na My, o huis van Jakob, en al die oorblyfsel van die huis van Israel, wat deur My gedra word van die baarmoeder af, wat gedra word van die skoot af:

And [even] to [your] old age I [am] he; and [even] to hoar hairs will I carry [you]: I have made, and I will bear; even I will carry, and will deliver [you].
En selfs tot julle ouderdom is ek Hy; en selfs tot grys hare sal ek julle dra: ek het dit gemaak, en ek sal dra; selfs ek sal dra, en sal julle red.

To whom will ye liken me, and make [me] equal, and compare me, that we may be like?
Met wie sal julle My vergelyk, en gelyk maak, en My vergelyk, dat ons gelyk mag wees?

They lavish gold out of the bag, and weigh silver in the balance, [and] hire a goldsmith; and he maketh it a god: they fall down, yea, they worship.
Hulle stort goud uit die sak, en weeg silwer in die balans, en huur ‚'n goudsmid; en hy maak dit ‚'n god: hulle val neer, ja, hulle aanbid.

They bear him upon the shoulder, they carry him, and set him in his place, and he standeth; from his place shall he not remove: yea, [one] shall cry unto him, yet can he not answer, nor save him out of his trouble.
Hulle dra dit op die skouer, hulle dra dit, en sit dit in sy plek, en dit staan; van sy plek af beweeg dit nie: ja, ‚'n mens mag tot dit roep, tog kan dit nie antwoord nie, en dit kan hom nie uit sy benoudheid red nie.

Remember this, and shew yourselves men: bring [it] again to mind, O ye transgressors.
Onthou dit, en toon julleself manne: bring dit weer tot verstand, o julle oortreders.

Remember the former things of old: for I [am] God, and [there is] none else; [I am] God, and [there is] none like me,
Onthou die vorige dinge van ouds: want ek is God, en daar is niemand anders nie; ek is God, en daar is niemand soos ek nie,

Declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times [the things] that are not [yet] done, saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure:
Wat die einde van die begin af verklaar, en van ou tye af die dinge wat nog nie gedoen is nie, sê, My raad sal stand hou, en ek sal al my behae doen:

Calling a ravenous bird from the east, the man that executeth my counsel from a far country: yea, I have spoken [it], I will also bring it to pass; I have purposed [it], I will also do it.
Wat ’n roofvoël van die ooste roep, die man wat my raad uitvoer van ’n ver land af: ja, ek het dit gespreek, ek sal dit ook laat kom; ek het dit voorneme gehad, ek sal dit ook doen.

Hearken unto me, ye stouthearted, that [are] far from righteousness:
Luister na My, julle hardnekkiges, wat ver is van geregtigheid:
13
I bring near my righteousness; it shall not be far off, and my salvation shall not tarry: and I will place salvation in Zion for Israel my glory.
Ek bring my geregtigheid naby; dit sal nie ver wees nie, en my heil sal nie talm nie: en ek sal heil in Sion sit vir Israel my heerlikheid.
