Yet now hear, O Jacob my servant; and Israel, whom I have chosen:

Nogtans hoor nou, o Jakob my dienaar; en Israel, wat ek verkies het:

Thus saith the LORD that made thee, and formed thee from the womb, [which] will help thee; Fear not, O Jacob, my servant; and thou, Jesurun, whom I have chosen.

So sê die HERE wat jou gemaak het, en jou van die baarmoeder af geformeer het, wat jou sal help; Vrees nie, o Jakob, my dienaar; en jy, Jesurún, wat ek verkies het.

For I will pour water upon him that is thirsty, and floods upon the dry ground: I will pour my spirit upon thy seed, and my blessing upon thine offspring:

Want ek sal water op hom wat dors is, uitgiet, en vloede op die droë grond: ek sal my Gees op jou saad uitgiet, en my seën op jou nageslag:

And they shall spring up [as] among the grass, as willows by the water courses.

En hulle sal uitspruit soos tussen die gras, soos wilgers by die waterstrome.

One shall say, I [am] the LORD’S; and another shall call [himself] by the name of Jacob; and another shall subscribe [with] his hand unto the LORD, and surname [himself] by the name of Israel.

Die een sal sê, Ek is die HERE s’n; en ’n ander sal homself by die naam van Jakob noem; en ’n ander sal met sy hand skrywe tot die HERE, en homself by die naam van Israel noem.

Thus saith the LORD the King of Israel, and his redeemer the LORD of hosts; I [am] the first, and I [am] the last; and beside me [there is] no God.

So sê die HERE die Koning van Israel, en sy Verlosser die HERE van leërskare; Ek is die eerste, en ek is die laaste; en behalwe My is daar geen God nie.

And who, as I, shall call, and shall declare it, and set it in order for me, since I appointed the ancient people? and the things that are coming, and shall come, let them shew unto them.

En wie, soos ek, sal roep, en dit verklaar, en dit vir My in orde stel, sedert ek die ou volk gestel het? en die dinge wat kom, en sal kom, laat hulle dit aan hulle verklaar.

Fear ye not, neither be afraid: have not I told thee from that time, and have declared [it]? ye [are] even my witnesses. Is there a God beside me? yea, [there is] no God; I know not [any].

Vrees nie, en wees nie bang nie: het ek dit nie van daardie tyd af aan jou laat hoor, en dit verklaar nie? julle is selfs my getuies. Is daar ‚'n God behalwe My? ja, daar is geen God nie; ek ken nie een nie.

They that make a graven image [are] all of them vanity; and their delectable things shall not profit; and they [are] their own witnesses; they see not, nor know; that they may be ashamed.

Dié wat ’n gesnede beeld maak, is almal ydelheid; en hulle aangename dinge sal nie baat nie; en hulle is hulle eie getuies; hulle sien nie, en hulle weet nie; dat hulle beskaamd mag word.

Who hath formed a god, or molten a graven image [that] is profitable for nothing?

Wie het ‚'n god geformeer, of ‚'n gesnede beeld gegiet wat tot geen nut is nie?

11

Behold, all his fellows shall be ashamed: and the workmen, they [are] of men: let them all be gathered together, let them stand up; [yet] they shall fear, [and] they shall be ashamed together.

Kyk, al sy metgeselle sal beskaamd word: en die werkmanne, hulle is van die mens: laat hulle almal bymekaarkom; laat hulle staan; hulle sal vrees, en hulle sal saam beskaamd word.

The smith with the tongs both worketh in the coals, and fashioneth it with hammers, and worketh it with the strength of his arms: yea, he is hungry, and his strength faileth: he drinketh no water, and is faint.

Die smid met die tang werk in die kole, en formeer dit met hamers, en werk dit met die sterkte van sy arms: ja, hy is honger, en sy krag ontbreek: hy drink geen water nie, en is flou.

The carpenter stretcheth out [his] rule; he marketh it out with a line; he fitteth it with planes, and he marketh it out with the compass, and maketh it after the figure of a man, according to the beauty of a man; that it may remain in the house.

Die timmerman strek sy reël uit; hy merk dit met ’n lyn uit; hy pas dit met plane, en hy merk dit met die kompas uit, en maak dit na die figuur van ’n man, volgens die skoonheid van ’n mens; dat dit in die huis mag bly.

He heweth him down cedars, and taketh the cypress and the oak, which he strengtheneth for himself among the trees of the forest: he planteth an ash, and the rain doth nourish [it].

Hy kap seders af, en neem die sipres en die eik, wat hy vir homself versterk onder die bome van die woud: hy plant ’n denneboom, en die reën laat dit groei.

Then shall it be for a man to burn: for he will take thereof, and warm himself; yea, he kindleth [it], and baketh bread; yea, he maketh a god, and worshippeth [it]; he maketh it a graven image, and falleth down thereto.

Dan sal dit vir ‚'n mens wees om te brand: want hy sal daarvan neem, en homself warm maak; ja, hy steek dit aan, en bak brood; ja, hy maak ‚'n god, en aanbid dit; hy maak dit ‚'n gesnede beeld, en val daarvoor neer.

He burneth part thereof in the fire; with part thereof he eateth flesh; he roasteth roast, and is satisfied: yea, he warmeth [himself], and saith, Aha, I am warm, I have seen the fire:

Hy brand ’n deel daarvan in die vuur; met ’n deel daarvan eet hy vleis; hy braai braaivleis, en is versadig: ja, hy warm homself, en sê, Aha, ek is warm, ek het die vuur gesien:

And the residue thereof he maketh a god, [even] his graven image: he falleth down unto it, and worshippeth [it], and prayeth unto it, and saith, Deliver me; for thou [art] my god.

En die oorblyfsel daarvan maak hy ’n god, selfs sy gesnede beeld: hy val daarvoor neer, en aanbid dit, en bid daartoe, en sê, Red my; want jy is my god.

18

They have not known nor understood: for he hath shut their eyes, that they cannot see; [and] their hearts, that they cannot understand.

Hulle het nie geken of verstaan nie: want Hy het hulle oë toegesluit, dat hulle nie kan sien nie; en hulle harte, dat hulle nie kan verstaan nie.

19

And none considereth in his heart, neither [is there] knowledge nor understanding to say, I have burned part of it in the fire; yea, also I have baked bread upon the coals thereof; I have roasted flesh, and eaten [it]: and shall I make the residue thereof an abomination? shall I fall down to the stock of a tree?

En niemand oorweeg in sy hart nie, en daar is ook geen kennis of verstand om te sê nie, Ek het ’n deel daarvan in die vuur verbrand; ja, ek het ook brood op die kole daarvan gebak; ek het vleis gebraai, en dit geëet: en sal ek die oorblyfsel daarvan ’n gruwel maak? sal ek voor ’n blok hout neerval?

20

He feedeth on ashes: a deceived heart hath turned him aside, that he cannot deliver his soul, nor say, [Is there] not a lie in my right hand?

Hy voed op as: ’n bedroë hart het hom van die pad afgelei, dat hy sy siel nie kan red, en sê, Is daar nie ’n leuen in my regterhand nie?

21

Remember these, O Jacob and Israel; for thou [art] my servant: I have formed thee; thou [art] my servant: O Israel, thou shalt not be forgotten of me.

Dink hieraan, o Jakob en Israel; want jy is my dienaar: ek het jou geformeer; jy is my dienaar: o Israel, jy sal nie deur My vergeet word nie.

22

I have blotted out, as a thick cloud, thy transgressions, and, as a cloud, thy sins: return unto me; for I have redeemed thee.

Ek het jou oortredings soos ‚'n dik wolk, en jou sondes soos ‚'n wolk, uitgewis: keer terug tot My; want ek het jou verlos.

23

Sing, O ye heavens; for the LORD hath done [it]: shout, ye lower parts of the earth: break forth into singing, ye mountains, O forest, and every tree therein: for the LORD hath redeemed Jacob, and glorified himself in Israel.

Sing, o julle hemele; want die HERE het dit gedoen: skreeu, julle laer dele van die aarde: breek uit in sing, julle berge, o woud, en elke boom daarin: want die HERE het Jakob verlos, en Homself verheerlik in Israel.

Thus saith the LORD, thy redeemer, and he that formed thee from the womb, I [am] the LORD that maketh all [things]; that stretcheth forth the heavens alone; that spreadeth abroad the earth by myself;

So sê die HERE, jou Verlosser, en Hy wat jou van die baarmoeder af geformeer het, Ek is die HERE wat alle dinge maak; wat die hemele alleen uitsprei; wat die aarde alleen uitspan;

That frustrateth the tokens of the liars, and maketh diviners mad; that turneth wise [men] backward, and maketh their knowledge foolish;

Wat die tekens van die leuenaars tot niet maak, en die waarsêers mal maak; wat die wyse manne agteruitdraai, en hulle kennis dwaas maak;

That confirmeth the word of his servant, and performeth the counsel of his messengers; that saith to Jerusalem, Thou shalt be inhabited; and to the cities of Judah, Ye shall be built, and I will raise up the decayed places thereof:

Wat die woord van sy dienaar bevestig, en die raad van sy boodskappers uitvoer; wat van Jérusalem sê, Dit sal bewoon word; en van die stede van Juda, Hulle sal gebou word, en ek sal die verwoeste plekke daarvan oprig:

That saith to the deep, Be dry, and I will dry up thy rivers:

Wat tot die diepte sê, Wees droog, en ek sal jou riviere uitdroog:

28

That saith of Cyrus, [He is] my shepherd, and shall perform all my pleasure: even saying to Jerusalem, Thou shalt be built; and to the temple, Thy foundation shall be laid.

Wat van Kores sê, Hy is my herder, en sal al my behae uitvoer: selfs sê tot Jérusalem, Jy sal gebou word; en tot die tempel, Jou fondament sal gelê word.
