1
At that time Merodachbaladan, the son of Baladan, king of Babylon, sent letters and a present to Hezekiah: for he had heard that he had been sick, and was recovered.
In daardie tyd het Merodag-Baladan, die seun van Baladan, koning van Babel, briewe en ’n geskenk aan Hiskía gestuur: want hy het gehoor dat hy siek was, en herstel het.

And Hezekiah was glad of them, and shewed them the house of his precious things, the silver, and the gold, and the spices, and the precious ointment, and all the house of his armour, and all that was found in his treasures: there was nothing in his house, nor in all his dominion, that Hezekiah shewed them not.
En Hiskía was bly oor hulle, en het hulle die huis van sy kosbare dinge gewys, die silwer, en die goud, en die speserye, en die kosbare salfolie, en al die huis van sy wapenrusting, en al wat in sy skatte gevind is: daar was niks in sy huis, en in al sy heerskappy, wat Hiskía hulle nie gewys het nie.

Then came Isaiah the prophet unto king Hezekiah, and said unto him, What said these men? and from whence came they unto thee? And Hezekiah said, They are come from a far country unto me, [even] from Babylon.
Toe het Jesaja die profeet tot koning Hiskía gekom, en tot hom gesê, Wat het hierdie manne gesê? en vanwaar het hulle tot jou gekom? En Hiskía het gesê, Hulle het van ’n ver land tot my gekom, selfs van Babel.

Then said he, What have they seen in thine house? And Hezekiah answered, All that [is] in mine house have they seen: there is nothing among my treasures that I have not shewed them.
Toe het hy gesê, Wat het hulle in jou huis gesien? En Hiskía het geantwoord, Al wat in my huis is, het hulle gesien: daar is niks onder my skatte wat ek hulle nie gewys het nie.

Then said Isaiah to Hezekiah, Hear the word of the LORD of hosts:
Toe het Jesaja tot Hiskía gesê, Hoor die woord van die HERE van leërskare:

Behold, the days come, that all that [is] in thine house, and [that] which thy fathers have laid up in store until this day, shall be carried to Babylon: nothing shall be left, saith the LORD.
Kyk, die dae kom, dat al wat in jou huis is, en dit wat jou vaders tot hierdie dag toe opgelê het, na Babel weggeneem sal word: daar sal niks oorbly nie, sê die HERE.

And of thy sons that shall issue from thee, which thou shalt beget, shall they take away; and they shall be eunuchs in the palace of the king of Babylon.
En van jou seuns wat uit jou sal voortkom, wat jy sal verwek, sal hulle wegneem; en hulle sal hofdienaars wees in die paleis van die koning van Babel.

Then said Hezekiah to Isaiah, Good [is] the word of the LORD which thou hast spoken. He said moreover, For there shall be peace and truth in my days.
Toe het Hiskía tot Jesaja gesê, Goed is die woord van die HERE wat jy gespreek het. Hy het ook gesê, Want daar sal vrede en waarheid in my dae wees.
