Then Joseph came and told Pharaoh, and said, My father and my brethren, and their flocks, and their herds, and all that they have, are come out of the land of Canaan; and, behold, they [are] in the land of Goshen.
Toe het Josef gekom en dit aan Farao vertel, en gesê, My vader en my broers, en hulle kleinvee, en hulle beeste, en alles wat hulle het, het uit die land Kanaän gekom; en kyk, hulle is in die land Gosen.

And he took some of his brethren, [even] five men, and presented them unto Pharaoh.
En hy het van sy broers vyf manne geneem, en hulle voor Farao gestel.

And Pharaoh said unto his brethren, What [is] your occupation? And they said unto Pharaoh, Thy servants [are] shepherds, both we, [and] also our fathers.
En Farao het tot sy broers gesê, Wat is julle besigheid? En hulle het tot Farao gesê, Jou dienaars is skaapwagters, beide ons, en ons vaders.

They said moreover unto Pharaoh, For to sojourn in the land are we come; for thy servants have no pasture for their flocks; for the famine [is] sore in the land of Canaan: now therefore, we pray thee, let thy servants dwell in the land of Goshen.
Hulle het verder tot Farao gesê, Om as vreemdelinge in die land te vertoef, het ons gekom; want daar is geen weiveld vir jou dienaars se kuddes nie; want die hongersnood is swaar in die land Kanaän: nou dan, laat jou dienaars tog in die land Gosen woon.

And Pharaoh spake unto Joseph, saying, Thy father and thy brethren are come unto thee:
En Farao het tot Josef gespreek, en gesê, Jou vader en jou broers het by jou gekom:

The land of Egypt [is] before thee; in the best of the land make thy father and brethren to dwell; in the land of Goshen let them dwell: and if thou knowest [any] men of activity among them, then make them rulers over my cattle.
Die land Egipte is voor jou; laat jou vader en jou broers in die beste van die land woon; laat hulle in die land Gosen woon: en as jy weet dat daar bekwame manne onder hulle is, stel hulle dan tot owerstes oor my vee.

And Joseph brought in Jacob his father, and set him before Pharaoh: and Jacob blessed Pharaoh.
En Josef het Jakob sy vader ingebring, en hom voor Farao gestel: en Jakob het Farao geseën.

And Pharaoh said unto Jacob, How old [art] thou?
En Farao het tot Jakob gesê, Hoeveel is die dae van die jare van jou lewe?

And Jacob said unto Pharaoh, The days of the years of my pilgrimage [are] an hundred and thirty years: few and evil have the days of the years of my life been, and have not attained unto the days of the years of the life of my fathers in the days of their pilgrimage.
En Jakob het tot Farao gesê, Die dae van die jare van my vreemdelingskap is honderd en dertig jaar: min en sleg was die dae van die jare van my lewe, en het nie bereik die dae van die jare van die lewe van my vaders in die dae van hulle vreemdelingskap nie.

And Jacob blessed Pharaoh, and went out from before Pharaoh.
En Jakob het Farao geseën, en van voor Farao uitgegaan.

And Joseph placed his father and his brethren, and gave them a possession in the land of Egypt, in the best of the land, in the land of Rameses, as Pharaoh had commanded.
En Josef het sy vader en sy broers gevestig, en hulle ’n besitting gegee in die land Egipte, in die beste van die land, in die land Raämses, soos Farao beveel het.

And Joseph nourished his father, and his brethren, and all his father’s household, with bread, according to [their] families.
En Josef het sy vader, en sy broers, en die hele huis van sy vader onderhou met brood, volgens die getal van hulle kinders.

And [there was] no bread in all the land; for the famine [was] very sore, so that the land of Egypt and [all] the land of Canaan fainted by reason of the famine.
En daar was geen brood in die hele land nie; want die hongersnood was baie swaar, sodat die land Egipte en die land Kanaän versmag het vanweë die hongersnood.

And Joseph gathered up all the money that was found in the land of Egypt, and in the land of Canaan, for the corn which they bought: and Joseph brought the money into Pharaoh’s house.
En Josef het al die geld bymekaargemaak wat in die land Egipte en in die land Kanaän gevind is, vir die koring wat hulle gekoop het: en Josef het die geld in Farao se huis gebring.

And when money failed in the land of Egypt, and in the land of Canaan, all the Egyptians came unto Joseph, and said, Give us bread: for why should we die in thy presence? for the money faileth.
En toe die geld op was in die land Egipte, en in die land Kanaän, het al die Egiptenaars na Josef gekom, en gesê, Gee ons brood: want waarom sou ons voor jou aangesig sterwe? want die geld is op.

And Joseph said, Give your cattle; and I will give you for your cattle, if money fail.
En Josef het gesê, Gee julle vee; en ek sal julle vir julle vee brood gee, as die geld op is.

And they brought their cattle unto Joseph: and Joseph gave them bread [in exchange] for horses, and for the flocks, and for the cattle of the herds, and for the asses: and he fed them with bread for all their cattle for that year.
En hulle het hulle vee na Josef gebring: en Josef het hulle brood gegee in ruil vir perde, en vir die kuddes kleinvee, en vir die kuddes beeste, en vir die esels: en hy het hulle daardie jaar met brood bedien in ruil vir al hulle vee.

When that year was ended, they came unto him the second year, and said unto him, We will not hide [it] from my lord, how that our money is spent; my lord also hath our herds of cattle; there is not ought left in the sight of my lord, but our bodies, and our lands:
Toe daardie jaar verby was, het hulle in die tweede jaar na hom gekom, en tot hom gesê, Ons sal dit nie voor my heer verberg nie, dat ons geld op is; my heer het ook ons troppe vee; daar is niks oor voor my heer nie, behalwe ons liggame, en ons land:

Wherefore shall we die before thine eyes, both we and our land? buy us and our land for bread, and we and our land will be servants unto Pharaoh: and give [us] seed, that we may live, and not die, that the land be not desolate.
Waarom sou ons voor jou oë sterwe, beide ons en ons land? koop ons en ons land vir brood, en ons en ons land sal Farao se slawe wees: en gee saad, dat ons mag lewe, en nie sterwe nie, en dat die land nie woes word nie.

And Joseph bought all the land of Egypt for Pharaoh; for the Egyptians sold every man his field, because the famine prevailed over them: so the land became Pharaoh’s.
En Josef het al die land van Egipte vir Farao gekoop; want die Egiptenaars het elkeen sy veld verkoop, omdat die hongersnood hulle oorweldig het: so het die land Farao s’n geword.

And as for the people, he removed them to cities from [one] end of the borders of Egypt even to the [other] end thereof.
En wat die volk betref, hy het hulle verplaas na stede, van die een einde van die grens van Egipte af tot by die ander einde daarvan.
22
Only the land of the priests bought he not; for the priests had a portion [assigned them] of Pharaoh, and did eat their portion which Pharaoh gave them: wherefore they sold not their lands.
Net die land van die priesters het hy nie gekoop nie; want die priesters het ’n porsie van Farao gehad, en het geëet van hulle porsie wat Farao hulle gegee het: daarom het hulle hulle land nie verkoop nie.

Then Joseph said unto the people, Behold, I have bought you this day and your land for Pharaoh: lo, [here is] seed for you, and ye shall sow the land.
Toe het Josef tot die volk gesê, Kyk, ek het julle vandag en julle land vir Farao gekoop: hier is saad vir julle, en julle moet die land besaai.

And it shall come to pass in the increase, that ye shall give the fifth [part] unto Pharaoh, and four parts shall be your own, for seed of the field, and for your food, and for them of your households, and for food for your little ones.
En dit sal gebeur in die oes, dat julle die vyfde deel aan Farao moet gee, en vier dele sal julle eie wees, tot saad van die veld, en tot julle voedsel, en vir dié van julle huise, en tot voedsel vir julle kinders.

And they said, Thou hast saved our lives: let us find grace in the sight of my lord, and we will be Pharaoh’s servants.
En hulle het gesê, Jy het ons lewe behou: laat ons genade vind in die oë van my heer, en ons sal Farao se slawe wees.

And Joseph made it a law over the land of Egypt unto this day, [that] Pharaoh should have the fifth [part]; except the land of the priests only, [which] became not Pharaoh’s.
En Josef het dit tot ’n wet gemaak oor die land Egipte tot vandag toe, dat Farao die vyfde deel moet hê; behalwe die land van die priesters alleen, wat nie Farao s’n geword het nie.

And Israel dwelt in the land of Egypt, in the country of Goshen; and they had possessions therein, and grew, and multiplied exceedingly.
En Israel het in die land Egipte, in die land Gosen, gewoon; en hulle het daarin besittings gehad, en was vrugbaar, en het baie vermeerder.
28
And Jacob lived in the land of Egypt seventeen years: so the whole age of Jacob was an hundred forty and seven years.
En Jakob het sewentien jaar in die land Egipte gelewe: so was die hele leeftyd van Jakob die dae van die jare van sy lewe, honderd sewe en veertig jaar.

And the time drew nigh that Israel must die: and he called his son Joseph, and said unto him, If now I have found grace in thy sight, put, I pray thee, thy hand under my thigh, and deal kindly and truly with me; bury me not, I pray thee, in Egypt:
En die tyd het nader gekom dat Israel moes sterwe: en hy het sy seun Josef geroep, en tot hom gesê, As ek nou genade in jou oë gevind het, lê tog jou hand onder my heup, en handel met my in goedheid en trou; begrawe my tog nie in Egipte nie:

But I will lie with my fathers, and thou shalt carry me out of Egypt, and bury me in their buryingplace. And he said, I will do as thou hast said.
Maar laat my by my vaders lê: en jy moet my uit Egipte uitdra, en my in hulle begraafplaas begrawe. En hy het gesê, Ek sal doen soos jy gesê het.

And he said, Swear unto me. And he sware unto him. And Israel bowed himself upon the bed’s head.
En hy het gesê, Sweer my; en hy het vir hom gesweer. En Israel het homself gebuig na die hoof van die bed.
