And it came to pass, when they had eaten up the corn which they had brought out of Egypt, their father said unto them, Go again, buy us a little food.
En dit het gebeur, toe hulle die koring opgeëet het wat hulle uit Egipte gebring het, dat hulle vader tot hulle gesê het, Gaan weer, koop vir ons ’n bietjie voedsel.

And Judah spake unto him, saying, The man did solemnly protest unto us, saying, Ye shall not see my face, except your brother [be] with you.
En Juda het tot hom gespreek, en gesê, Die man het ons nadruklik vermaan, en gesê, Julle sal my aangesig nie sien nie, tensy julle broer by julle is.

If thou wilt send our brother with us, we will go down and buy thee food:
As jy ons broer saam met ons stuur, sal ons afgaan en vir jou voedsel koop:

But if thou wilt not send [him], we will not go down: for the man said unto us, Ye shall not see my face, except your brother [be] with you.
Maar as jy hom nie stuur nie, sal ons nie afgaan nie: want die man het tot ons gesê, Julle sal my aangesig nie sien nie, tensy julle broer by julle is.

And Israel said, Wherefore dealt ye [so] ill with me, [as] to tell the man whether ye had yet a brother?
En Israel het gesê, Waarom het julle so sleg aan my gedoen om die man te vertel of julle nog ’n broer het?

And they said, The man asked us straitly of our state, and of our kindred, saying, [Is] your father yet alive? have ye [another] brother? and we told him according to the tenor of these words: could we certainly know that he would say, Bring your brother down?
En hulle het gesê, Die man het nadruklik na ons en na ons maagskap gevra, en gesê, Lewe julle vader nog? het julle nog ’n broer? en ons het hom volgens hierdie woorde geantwoord: kon ons enigsins weet dat hy sou sê, Bring julle broer af?

And Judah said unto Israel his father, Send the lad with me, and we will arise and go; that we may live, and not die, both we, and thou, [and] also our little ones.
En Juda het tot Israel sy vader gesê, Stuur die seun saam met my, en ons sal opstaan en gaan; dat ons mag lewe, en nie sterwe nie, ons, en jy, en ook ons kinders.

I will be surety for him; of my hand shalt thou require him: if I bring him not unto thee, and set him before thee, then let me bear the blame for ever:
Ek sal borg vir hom wees; uit my hand kan jy hom eis: as ek hom nie na jou bring, en hom voor jou stel nie, dan sal ek al die dae skuldig wees teenoor jou.

For except we had lingered, surely now we had returned this second time.
Want as ons nie vertoef het nie, sou ons sekerlik nou al ’n tweede maal teruggekom het.

And their father Israel said unto them, If [it must be] so now, do this; take of the best fruits in the land in your vessels, and carry down the man a present, a little balm, and a little honey, spices, and myrrh, nuts, and almonds:
En hulle vader Israel het tot hulle gesê, As dit dan so moet wees, doen dit: neem van die beste vrugte van die land in julle vaatwerke, en bring vir die man ’n geskenk, ’n bietjie balsem, en ’n bietjie heuning, speserye, en mirre, neute, en amandels:

And take double money in your hand; and the money that was brought again in the mouth of your sacks, carry [it] again in your hand; peradventure it [was] an oversight:
En neem dubbele geld in julle hand; en die geld wat in die mond van julle sakke teruggebring is, bring terug in julle hand; miskien was dit ’n misverstand.

Take also your brother, and arise, go again unto the man:
Neem ook julle broer, en staan op, gaan weer na die man:

And God Almighty give you mercy before the man, that he may send away your other brother, and Benjamin. If I be bereaved [of my children], I am bereaved.
En God die Almagtige gee julle barmhartigheid voor die man, dat hy julle ander broer en Benjamin aan julle mag laat gaan: en ek, as ek van kinders berowe word, dan is ek berowe.

And the men took that present, and they took double money in their hand, and Benjamin; and rose up, and went down to Egypt, and stood before Joseph.
En die manne het daardie geskenk geneem, en dubbele geld in hulle hand geneem, en Benjamin; en hulle het opgestaan, en afgegaan na Egipte, en voor Josef gestaan.

And when Joseph saw Benjamin with them, he said to the ruler of his house, Bring [these] men home, and slay, and make ready; for [these] men shall dine with me at noon.
En toe Josef Benjamin by hulle sien, het hy tot die owerste van sy huis gesê, Bring hierdie manne huis toe, en slag, en berei; want hierdie manne sal met my eet in die middag.

And the man did as Joseph bade; and the man brought the men into Joseph’s house.
En die man het gedoen soos Josef gesê het; en die man het die manne in Josef se huis gebring.

And the men were afraid, because they were brought into Joseph’s house; and they said, Because of the money that was returned in our sacks at the first time are we brought in; that he may seek occasion against us, and fall upon us, and take us for bondmen, and our asses.
En die manne was bevrees, omdat hulle in Josef se huis gebring is; en hulle het gesê, Vanweë die saak van die geld wat in ons sakke die eerste keer teruggekom het, is ons gebring; dat hy geleentheid teen ons mag soek, en op ons mag val, en ons tot slawe mag neem, en ons esels.

And they came near to the steward of Joseph’s house, and they communed with him at the door of the house,
En hulle het nader gekom tot die man wat oor Josef se huis was, en met hom by die deur van die huis gespreek,

And said, O sir, we came indeed down at the first time to buy food:
En gesê, Ag, my heer, ons het waarlik die eerste keer afgekom om voedsel te koop:

And it came to pass, when we came to the inn, that we opened our sacks, and, behold, [every] man’s money [was] in the mouth of his sack, our money in full weight: and we have brought it again in our hand.
En dit het gebeur, toe ons by die herberg gekom het, dat ons ons sakke oopgemaak het, en kyk, elke man se geld was in die mond van sy sak, ons geld in volle gewig: en ons het dit teruggebring in ons hand.

And other money have we brought down in our hands to buy food: we cannot tell who put our money in our sacks.
En ander geld het ons in ons hand afgebring om voedsel te koop: ons weet nie wie ons geld in ons sakke gesit het nie.

And he said, Peace [be] to you, fear not: your God, and the God of your father, hath given you treasure in your sacks: I had your money. And he brought Simeon out unto them.
En hy het gesê, Vrede vir julle, vrees nie: julle God, en die God van julle vader, het julle ’n skat in julle sakke gegee: julle geld het by my aangekom. En hy het Simeon na hulle uitgebring.

And the man brought the men into Joseph’s house, and gave [them] water, and they washed their feet; and he gave their asses provender.
En die man het die manne in Josef se huis gebring, en water gegee, en hulle het hulle voete gewas; en hy het voer vir hulle esels gegee.
25
And they made ready the present against Joseph came at noon: for they heard that they should eat bread there.
En hulle het die geskenk gereed gemaak teen Josef se koms in die middag: want hulle het gehoor dat hulle daar brood sou eet.

And when Joseph came home, they brought him the present which [was] in their hand into the house, and bowed themselves to him to the earth.
En toe Josef huis toe gekom het, het hulle hom die geskenk wat in hulle hand was, in die huis gebring, en voor hom na die aarde gebuig.
27
And he asked them of [their] welfare, and said, [Is] your father well, the old man of whom ye spake? [Is] he yet alive?
En hy het hulle na hulle welstand gevra, en gesê, Gaan dit goed met julle vader, die ou man waarvan julle gespreek het? lewe hy nog?

And they answered, Thy servant our father [is] in good health, he [is] yet alive. And they bowed down their heads, and made obeisance.
En hulle het gesê, Dit gaan goed met u dienaar ons vader; hy lewe nog. En hulle het die hoof gebuig, en hom eerbiedig.

And he lifted up his eyes, and saw his brother Benjamin, his mother’s son, and said, [Is] this your younger brother, of whom ye spake unto me? And he said, God be gracious unto thee, my son.
En hy het sy oë opgeslaan, en sy broer Benjamin, sy moeder se seun, gesien, en gesê, Is dit julle jongste broer, waarvan julle tot my gespreek het? En hy het gesê, God wees jou genadig, my seun.

And Joseph made haste; for his bowels did yearn upon his brother: and he sought [where] to weep; and he entered into [his] chamber, and wept there.
En Josef het haastig uitgegaan; want sy binneste was ontroerd oor sy broer: en hy het gesoek om te huil; en hy het in die kamer gegaan, en daar gehuil.

And he washed his face, and went out, and refrained himself, and said, Set on bread.
En hy het sy aangesig gewas, en uitgegaan, en homself bedwing, en gesê, Sit die brood voor.

And they set on for him by himself, and for them by themselves, and for the Egyptians, which did eat with him, by themselves: because the Egyptians might not eat bread with the Hebrews; for that [is] an abomination unto the Egyptians.
En hulle het vir hom alleen voorggesit, en vir hulle alleen, en vir die Egiptenaars, wat saam met hom geëet het, alleen: omdat die Egiptenaars nie kan eet saam met die Hebreërs nie; want dit is ’n gruwel vir die Egiptenaars.

And they sat before him, the firstborn according to his birthright, and the youngest according to his youth: and the men marvelled one at another.
En hulle het voor hom gesit, die eersgeborene volgens sy eersgeboortereg, en die jongste volgens sy jongheid: en die manne het verbaas na mekaar gekyk.

And he took [and sent] messes unto them from before him: but Benjamin’s mess was five times so much as any of theirs. And they drank, and were merry with him.
En hy het porsies van voor hom af na hulle geneem: maar Benjamin se porsie was vyf maal groter as enige van hulle s’n. En hulle het gedrink, en saam met hom vrolik gewees.
