And Sarah was an hundred and seven and twenty years old: [these were] the years of the life of Sarah.
En Sara was honderd sewe en twintig jaar oud: dit was die jare van die lewe van Sara.

And Sarah died in Kirjatharba; the same [is] Hebron in the land of Canaan: and Abraham came to mourn for Sarah, and to weep for her.
En Sara het gesterwe in Kirjat-Arba; dieselfde is Hebron in die land Kanaän: en Abraham het gekom om oor Sara te treur, en oor haar te ween.

And Abraham stood up from before his dead, and spake unto the sons of Heth, saying,
En Abraham het opgestaan van voor sy dode, en tot die seuns van Het gespreek, en gesê,

I [am] a stranger and a sojourner with you: give me a possession of a buryingplace with you, that I may bury my dead out of my sight.
Ek is ’n vreemdeling en ’n bywoner by julle: gee my ’n besitting van ’n begraafplaas by julle, dat ek my dode uit my oë mag begrawe.

And the children of Heth answered Abraham, saying unto him,
En die kinders van Het het Abraham geantwoord, en tot hom gesê,
6
Hear us, my lord: thou [art] a mighty prince among us: in the choice of our sepulchres bury thy dead; none of us shall withhold from thee his sepulchre, but that thou mayest bury thy dead.
Hoor ons, my heer: jy is ’n magtige vors onder ons: in die keuse van ons grafte begrawe jou dode; niemand van ons sal sy graf van jou weerhou nie, maar dat jy jou dode mag begrawe.

And Abraham stood up, and bowed himself to the people of the land, [even] to the children of Heth.
En Abraham het opgestaan, en homself gebuig voor die volk van die land, selfs voor die kinders van Het.

And he communed with them, saying, If it be your mind that I should bury my dead out of my sight; hear me, and intreat for me to Ephron the son of Zohar,
En hy het met hulle onderhandel, en gesê, As dit julle sin is dat ek my dode uit my oë moet begrawe; hoor my, en tree vir my by Efron die seun van Sohar in,

That he may give me the cave of Machpelah, which he hath, which [is] in the end of his field; for as much money as it is worth he shall give it me for a possession of a buryingplace amongst you.
Dat hy my die spelonk van Magpela mag gee, wat hy het, wat aan die einde van sy veld is; vir soveel geld as dit werd is, moet hy dit aan my gee tot ’n besitting van ’n begraafplaas onder julle.

And Ephron dwelt among the children of Heth: and Ephron the Hittite answered Abraham in the audience of the children of Heth, [even] of all that went in at the gate of his city, saying,
En Efron het onder die kinders van Het gewoon: en Efron die Hetiet het Abraham geantwoord in die gehoor van die kinders van Het, selfs van almal wat by die poort van sy stad ingegaan het, en gesê,

Nay, my lord, hear me: the field give I thee, and the cave that [is] therein, I give it thee; in the presence of the sons of my people give I it thee: bury thy dead.
Nee, my heer, hoor my: die veld gee ek jou, en die spelonk wat daarin is, gee ek dit jou; in die teenwoordigheid van die seuns van my volk gee ek dit jou: begrawe jou dode.

And Abraham bowed down himself before the people of the land.
En Abraham het homself voor die volk van die land gebuig.
13
And he spake unto Ephron in the audience of the people of the land, saying, But if thou [wilt give it], I pray thee, hear me: I will give thee money for the field; take [it] of me, and I will bury my dead there.
En hy het tot Efron gespreek in die gehoor van die volk van die land, en gesê, Maar as jy dit wil gee, bid ek jou, hoor my: ek sal jou geld gee vir die veld; neem dit van my, en ek sal my dode daar begrawe.

And Ephron answered Abraham, saying unto him,
En Efron het Abraham geantwoord, en tot hom gesê,
15
My lord, hearken unto me: the land [is worth] four hundred shekels of silver; what [is] that betwixt me and thee? bury therefore thy dead.
My heer, luister na my: die land is vierhonderd sikkels silwer werd; wat is dit tussen my en jou? begrawe dan jou dode.
16
And Abraham hearkened unto Ephron; and Abraham weighed to Ephron the silver, which he had named in the audience of the sons of Heth, four hundred shekels of silver, current [money] with the merchant.
En Abraham het na Efron geluister; en Abraham het die silwer vir Efron afgeweeg, wat hy genoem het in die gehoor van die seuns van Het, vierhonderd sikkels silwer, gangbare geld by die handelaar.

And the field of Ephron, which [was] in Machpelah, which [was] before Mamre, the field, and the cave which [was] therein, and all the trees that [were] in the field, that [were] in all the borders round about, were made sure
En die veld van Efron, wat in Magpela was, wat voor Mamre was, die veld, en die spelonk wat daarin was, en al die bome wat in die veld was, wat in al die grense rondom was, is verseker
18
Unto Abraham for a possession in the presence of the children of Heth, before all that went in at the gate of his city.
Aan Abraham tot ’n besitting in die teenwoordigheid van die kinders van Het, voor almal wat by die poort van sy stad ingegaan het.
19
And after this, Abraham buried Sarah his wife in the cave of the field of Machpelah before Mamre: the same [is] Hebron in the land of Canaan.
En hierna het Abraham Sara sy vrou begrawe in die spelonk van die veld van Magpela voor Mamre: dieselfde is Hebron in die land Kanaän.

And the field, and the cave that [is] therein, were made sure unto Abraham for a possession of a buryingplace by the sons of Heth.
En die veld, en die spelonk wat daarin is, is aan Abraham verseker tot ’n besitting van ’n begraafplaas deur die seuns van Het.
