And it came to pass in the sixth year, in the sixth [month], in the fifth [day] of the month, [as] I sat in mine house, and the elders of Judah sat before me, that the hand of the Lord GOD fell there upon me.
En dit het gebeur in die sesde jaar, in die sesde maand, op die vyfde dag van die maand, toe ek in my huis gesit het, en die oudstes van Juda voor my gesit het, dat die hand van die Here GOD daar op my geval het.

Then I beheld, and lo a likeness as the appearance of fire: from the appearance of his loins even downward, fire; and from his loins even upward, as the appearance of brightness, as the colour of amber.
Toe het ek gekyk, en kyk, ‚'n gelykenis soos die aangesig van vuur: van die aangesig van sy lendene af afwaarts, vuur; en van sy lendene af opwaarts, soos die aangesig van helderheid, soos die kleur van amber.

And he put forth the form of an hand, and took me by a lock of mine head; and the spirit lifted me up between the earth and the heaven, and brought me in the visions of God to Jerusalem, to the door of the inner gate that looketh toward the north; where [was] the seat of the image of jealousy, which provoketh to jealousy.
En Hy het die gelykenis van ’n hand uitgesteek, en my by ’n lok van my hoof geneem; en die gees het my tussen die aarde en die hemel opgelig, en my in die gesigte van God na Jérusalem gebring, na die ingang van die binnepoort wat na die noorde kyk; waar die setel was van die beeld van ywer, wat tot ywer prikkel.

And, behold, the glory of the God of Israel [was] there, according to the vision that I saw in the plain.
En kyk, die heerlikheid van die God van Israel was daar, volgens die visioen wat ek in die vlakte gesien het.

Then said he unto me, Son of man, lift up thine eyes now the way toward the north. So I lifted up mine eyes the way toward the north, and behold northward at the gate of the altar this image of jealousy in the entry.
Toe het Hy tot my gesê, Seun van die mens, hef nou jou oë op na die weg na die noorde. So het ek my oë opgehef na die weg na die noorde, en kyk, noordwaarts by die poort van die altaar was hierdie beeld van ywer in die ingang.

He said furthermore unto me, Son of man, seest thou what they do? [even] the great abominations that the house of Israel committeth here, that I should go far off from my sanctuary? but turn thee yet again, [and] thou shalt see greater abominations.
Hy het verder tot my gesê, Seun van die mens, sien jy wat hulle doen? selfs die groot gruwels wat die huis van Israel hier doen, dat ek van my heiligdom moet weggaan? maar draai jou nog om, en jy sal groter gruwels sien.

And he brought me to the door of the court; and when I looked, behold a hole in the wall.
En Hy het my na die deur van die voorhof gebring; en toe ek gekyk het, kyk, ‚'n gat in die muur.

Then said he unto me, Son of man, dig now in the wall: and when I had digged in the wall, behold a door.
Toe het Hy tot my gesê, Seun van die mens, grawe nou in die muur: en toe ek in die muur gegraveer het, kyk, ’n deur.

And he said unto me, Go in, and behold the wicked abominations that they do here.
En Hy het tot my gesê, Gaan in, en aanskou die boos gruwels wat hulle hier doen.

So I went in and saw; and behold every form of creeping things, and abominable beasts, and all the idols of the house of Israel, pourtrayed upon the wall round about.
So het ek ingegaan en gesien; en kyk, elke vorm van kruipende dinge, en verfoeilike diere, en al die afgode van die huis van Israel, is op die muur rondom uitgebeeld.

And there stood before them seventy men of the ancients of the house of Israel, and in the midst of them stood Jaazaniah the son of Shaphan, with every man his censer in his hand; and a thick cloud of incense went up.
En daar het sewentig manne van die oudstes van die huis van Israel voor hulle gestaan, en in die midde van hulle het Jaäsánja die seun van Safan gestaan, elkeen met sy wierookpan in sy hand; en ’n digte wolk van wierook het opgegaan.

Then said he unto me, Son of man, hast thou seen what the ancients of the house of Israel do in the dark, every man in the chambers of his imagery? for they say, The LORD seeth us not; the LORD hath forsaken the earth.
Toe het Hy tot my gesê, Seun van die mens, het jy gesien wat die oudstes van die huis van Israel in die duisternis doen, elkeen in die kamers van sy beelde? want hulle sê, Die HERE sien ons nie; die HERE het die land verlaat.

He said also unto me, Turn thee yet again, [and] thou shalt see greater abominations that they do.
Hy het ook tot my gesê, Draai jou nog om, en jy sal groter gruwels sien wat hulle doen.

Then he brought me to the door of the gate of the LORD’S house which [was] toward the north; and, behold, there sat women weeping for Tammuz.
Toe het Hy my na die deur van die poort van die huis van die HERE gebring wat na die noorde was; en kyk, daar het vroue gesit wat vir Tammus ween.

Then said he unto me, Hast thou seen [this], O son of man? turn thee yet again, [and] thou shalt see greater abominations than these.
Toe het Hy tot my gesê, Het jy dit gesien, o seun van die mens? draai jou nog om, en jy sal groter gruwels sien as hierdie.

And he brought me into the inner court of the LORD’S house, and, behold, at the door of the temple of the LORD, between the porch and the altar, [were] about five and twenty men, with their backs toward the temple of the LORD, and their faces toward the east; and they worshipped the sun toward the east.
En Hy het my in die binnevoorhof van die huis van die HERE gebring, en kyk, by die deur van die tempel van die HERE, tussen die voorportaal en die altaar, was omtrent vyf en twintig manne, met hulle rug na die tempel van die HERE, en hulle aangesigte na die ooste; en hulle het die son na die ooste aanbid.

Then he said unto me, Hast thou seen [this], O son of man? Is it a light thing to the house of Judah that they commit the abominations which they commit here? for they have filled the land with violence, and have returned to provoke me to anger: and, lo, they put the branch to their nose.
Toe het Hy tot my gesê, Het jy dit gesien, o seun van die mens? Is dit ’n ligte ding vir die huis van Juda dat hulle die gruwels doen wat hulle hier doen? want hulle het die land met geweld gevul, en het teruggekeer om My te terg: en kyk, hulle sit die tak by hulle neus.

Therefore will I also deal in fury: mine eye shall not spare, neither will I have pity: and though they cry in mine ears with a loud voice, [yet] will I not hear them.
Daarom sal ek ook in grimmigheid handel: my oog sal nie spaar nie, en ek sal ook nie medelye hê nie: en alhoewel hulle in my ore met ’n harde stem roep, sal ek tog nie na hulle luister nie.
