When the LORD thy God shall bring thee into the land whither thou goest to possess it, and hath cast out many nations before thee, the Hittites, and the Girgashites, and the Amorites, and the Canaanites, and the Perizzites, and the Hivites, and the Jebusites, seven nations greater and mightier than thou;
Wanneer die HERE jou God jou in die land bring waarheen jy gaan om dit te besit, en baie nasies voor jou uit verdrywe, die Hetiete, en die Girgasiete, en die Amoriete, en die Kanaäniete, en die Feresiete, en die Hewiete, en die Jebusiete, sewe nasies groter en magtiger as jy;

And when the LORD thy God shall deliver them before thee; thou shalt smite them, [and] utterly destroy them; thou shalt make no covenant with them, nor shew mercy unto them:
En wanneer die HERE jou God hulle voor jou oorgee, en jy hulle verslaan; dan moet jy hulle heeltemal vernietig; jy mag geen verbond met hulle maak nie, en hulle geen genade bewys nie:

Neither shalt thou make marriages with them; thy daughter thou shalt not give unto his son, nor his daughter shalt thou take unto thy son.
Jy mag ook nie met hulle trou nie; jou dogter mag jy nie aan sy seun gee nie, en sy dogter mag jy nie vir jou seun neem nie.
4
For they will turn away thy son from following me, that they may serve other gods: so will the anger of the LORD be kindled against you, and destroy thee suddenly.
Want hulle sal jou seun van My afwend, dat hy ander gode mag dien: so sal die toorn van die HERE teen julle aangesteek word, en Hy julle spoedig vernietig.

But thus shall ye deal with them; ye shall destroy their altars, and break down their images, and cut down their groves, and burn their graven images with fire.
Maar so moet julle aan hulle doen; julle moet hulle altare afbreek, en hulle beelde stukkend breek, en hulle bosse afkap, en hulle gesnede beelde met vuur verbrand.

For thou [art] an holy people unto the LORD thy God: the LORD thy God hath chosen thee to be a special people unto himself, above all people that [are] upon the face of the earth.
Want jy is ‚'n heilige volk aan die HERE jou God: die HERE jou God het jou uitverkies om vir Hom ‚'n besondere volk te wees bo al die volke wat op die aangesig van die aarde is.

The LORD did not set his love upon you, nor choose you, because ye were more in number than any people; for ye [were] the fewest of all people:
Die HERE het nie sy liefde op julle gestel, of julle uitverkies, omdat julle meer was as enige volk nie; want julle was die minste van al die volke:
8
But because the LORD loved you, and because he would keep the oath which he had sworn unto your fathers, hath the LORD brought you out with a mighty hand, and redeemed you out of the house of bondmen, from the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt.
Maar omdat die HERE julle liefgehad het, en omdat Hy die eed wou hou wat Hy aan julle vaders gesweer het, het die HERE julle uitgebring met ‚'n magtige hand, en julle verlos uit die huis van diensknegte, uit die hand van Farao koning van Egipte.

Know therefore that the LORD thy God, he [is] God, the faithful God, which keepeth covenant and mercy with them that love him and keep his commandments to a thousand generations;
Weet dan dat die HERE jou God, Hy is God, die getroue God, wat die verbond en barmhartigheid hou met hulle wat Hom liefhet en sy gebooie onderhou tot duisend geslagte;

And repayeth them that hate him to their face, to destroy them: he will not be slack to him that hateth him, he will repay him to his face.
En vergeld hulle wat Hom haat in hulle aangesig, om hulle te vernietig: Hy sal nie vertoef teenoor hom wat Hom haat nie, Hy sal hom in sy aangesig vergeld.

Thou shalt therefore keep the commandments, and the statutes, and the judgments, which I command thee this day, to do them.
Jy moet dus die gebooie, en die insettinge, en die oordele onderhou, wat ek jou vandag beveel om te doen.
12
Wherefore it shall come to pass, if ye hearken to these judgments, and keep, and do them, that the LORD thy God shall keep unto thee the covenant and the mercy which he sware unto thy fathers:
Daarom moet dit wees, as julle hierdie oordele hoor, en dit onderhou, en dit doen, dat die HERE jou God die verbond en die barmhartigheid vir jou sal hou wat Hy aan jou vaders gesweer het:

And he will love thee, and bless thee, and multiply thee: he will also bless the fruit of thy womb, and the fruit of thy land, thy corn, and thy wine, and thine oil, the increase of thy kine, and the flocks of thy sheep, in the land which he sware unto thy fathers to give thee.
En Hy sal jou liefhê, en jou seën, en jou vermeerder: Hy sal ook die vrug van jou skoot seën, en die vrug van jou land, jou koring, en jou mos, en jou olie, die toename van jou beeste, en die troppe van jou skape, in die land wat Hy aan jou vaders met ’n eed beloof het om aan jou te gee.

Thou shalt be blessed above all people: there shall not be male or female barren among you, or among your cattle.
Jy sal geseënd wees bo al die volke: daar sal nie ’n man of vrou onvrugbaar onder jou wees nie, of onder jou vee.
15
And the LORD will take away from thee all sickness, and will put none of the evil diseases of Egypt, which thou knowest, upon thee; but will lay them upon all [them] that hate thee.
En die HERE sal al siekte van jou afwend, en geen van die bose siektes van Egipte, wat jy ken, op jou sit nie; maar sal hulle op almal sit wat jou haat.
16
And thou shalt consume all the people which the LORD thy God shall deliver thee; thine eye shall have no pity upon them: neither shalt thou serve their gods; for that [will be] a snare unto thee.
En jy moet al die volke verteer wat die HERE jou God aan jou sal oorgee; jou oog mag hulle nie spaar nie: en jy mag hulle gode nie dien nie; want dit sal ‚'n strik vir jou wees.
17
If thou shalt say in thine heart, These nations [are] more than I; how can I dispossess them?
As jy in jou hart sê, Hierdie nasies is meer as ek; hoe kan ek hulle verdrywe?
18
Thou shalt not be afraid of them: [but] shalt well remember what the LORD thy God did unto Pharaoh, and unto all Egypt;
Wees nie bevrees vir hulle nie: gedenk wat die HERE jou God aan Farao, en aan die hele Egipte gedoen het;
19
The great temptations which thine eyes saw, and the signs, and the wonders, and the mighty hand, and the stretched out arm, whereby the LORD thy God brought thee out: so shall the LORD thy God do unto all the people of whom thou art afraid.
Die groot versoekinge wat jou oë gesien het, en die tekens, en die wonders, en die magtige hand, en die uitgestrekte arm, waarmee die HERE jou God jou uitgebring het: so sal die HERE jou God aan al die volke doen vir wie jy bevrees is.
20
Moreover the LORD thy God will send the hornet among them, until they that are left, and hide themselves from thee, be destroyed.
Bowendien sal die HERE jou God die horrel onder hulle stuur, totdat hulle wat oorbly, en hulle wat hulle voor jou verberg, vernietig is.
21
Thou shalt not be affrighted at them: for the LORD thy God [is] among you, a mighty God and terrible.
Jy mag nie verskrik wees voor hulle nie: want die HERE jou God is onder jou, ‚'n groot God en vreeslik.
22
And the LORD thy God will put out those nations before thee by little and little: thou mayest not consume them at once, lest the beasts of the field increase upon thee.
En die HERE jou God sal hierdie nasies bietjie vir bietjie voor jou uit verdrywe: jy mag hulle nie spoedig vernietig nie, dat die diere van die veld nie teen jou vermeerder nie.
23
But the LORD thy God shall deliver them unto thee, and shall destroy them with a mighty destruction, until they be destroyed.
Maar die HERE jou God sal hulle aan jou oorgee, en hulle met ‚'n groot vernietiging vernietig, totdat hulle vernietig is.
24
And he shall deliver their kings into thine hand, and thou shalt destroy their name from under heaven: there shall no man be able to stand before thee, until thou have destroyed them.
En Hy sal hulle konings in jou hand gee, en jy moet hulle naam van onder die hemel uitwis: daar sal niemand voor jou standhou nie, totdat jy hulle vernietig het.
25
The graven images of their gods shall ye burn with fire: thou shalt not desire the silver or gold [that is] on them, nor take [it] unto thee, lest thou be snared therein: for it [is] an abomination to the LORD thy God.
Die gesnede beelde van hulle gode moet julle met vuur verbrand: jy mag die silwer of goud wat daarop is, nie begeer nie, en dit nie vir jou neem nie, dat jy daardeur nie verstrik word nie: want dit is ‚'n gruwel vir die HERE jou God.
26
Neither shalt thou bring an abomination into thine house, lest thou be a cursed thing like it: [but] thou shalt utterly detest it, and thou shalt utterly abhor it; for it [is] a cursed thing.
En jy mag geen gruwel in jou huis bring nie, dat jy nie ‚'n vervloekte ding soos dit word nie: maar jy moet dit heeltemal verfoei, en jy moet dit heeltemal verafsku; want dit is ‚'n vervloekte ding.
