Now these [are] the commandments, the statutes, and the judgments, which the LORD your God commanded to teach you, that ye might do [them] in the land whither ye go to possess it:
Nou is dit die gebooie, die insettinge, en die oordele, wat die HERE julle God beveel het om julle te leer, dat julle dit mag doen in die land waarheen julle trek om dit te besit:

That thou mightest fear the LORD thy God, to keep all his statutes and his commandments, which I command thee, thou, and thy son, and thy son’s son, all the days of thy life; and that thy days may be prolonged.
Dat jy die HERE jou God mag vrees, om al sy insettinge en sy gebooie te onderhou, wat ek jou beveel, jy, en jou seun, en jou seun se seun, al die dae van jou lewe; en dat jou dae verleng mag word.

Hear therefore, O Israel, and observe to do [it]; that it may be well with thee, and that ye may increase mightily, as the LORD God of thy fathers hath promised thee, in the land that floweth with milk and honey.
Hoor dan, Israel, en neem ag om dit te doen; dat dit met jou goed mag gaan, en dat julle mag vermeerder baie, soos die HERE, die God van jou vaders, tot jou gesê het, in die land wat oorvloei van melk en heuning.

Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God [is] one LORD:
Hoor, Israel: Die HERE onse God is ‚'n enigste HERE:
5
And thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might.
En jy moet die HERE jou God liefhê met jou hele hart, en met jou hele siel, en met al jou krag.
6
And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart:
En hierdie woorde, wat ek jou vandag beveel, moet in jou hart wees:
7
And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up.
En jy moet hulle jou kinders ywerig leer, en daarvan spreek wanneer jy in jou huis sit, en wanneer jy op die pad wandel, en wanneer jy neerlê, en wanneer jy opstaan.

And thou shalt bind them for a sign upon thine hand, and they shall be as frontlets between thine eyes.
En jy moet hulle as ’n teken op jou hand bind, en hulle moet as voorhoofsbande tussen jou oë wees.
9
And thou shalt write them upon the posts of thy house, and on thy gates.
En jy moet hulle op die deurposte van jou huis, en op jou poorte skrywe.
10
And it shall be, when the LORD thy God shall have brought thee into the land which he sware unto thy fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give thee great and goodly cities, which thou buildedst not,
En dit sal gebeur, wanneer die HERE jou God jou in die land bring wat Hy aan jou vaders, Abraham, Isak, en Jakob, met ‚'n eed beloof het, om jou te gee groot en goeie stede, wat jy nie gebou het nie,

And houses full of all good [things], which thou filledst not, and wells digged, which thou diggedst not, vineyards and olive trees, which thou plantedst not; when thou shalt have eaten and be full;
En huise vol van alle goeie dinge, wat jy nie gevul het nie, en uitgegrawe putte, wat jy nie uitgegrawe het nie, wingerde en olyfbome, wat jy nie geplant het nie; wanneer jy geëet het en versadig is:

[Then] beware lest thou forget the LORD, which brought thee forth out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage.
Pas dan op dat jy die HERE nie vergeet nie, wat jou uitgebring het uit die land Egipte, uit die huis van diensbaarheid.
13
Thou shalt fear the LORD thy God, and serve him, and shalt swear by his name.
Jy moet die HERE jou God vrees, en Hom dien, en by sy Naam sweer.
14
Ye shall not go after other gods, of the gods of the people which [are] round about you;
Julle mag nie agter ander gode aangaan nie, van die gode van die volke wat rondom julle is;
15
(For the LORD thy God [is] a jealous God among you) lest the anger of the LORD thy God be kindled against thee, and destroy thee from off the face of the earth.
(Want die HERE jou God is ‚'n jaloerse God onder jou;) dat die toorn van die HERE jou God nie teen jou aangesteek word, en Hy jou van die aangesig van die aarde vernietig nie.
16
Ye shall not tempt the LORD your God, as ye tempted [him] in Massah.
Julle mag die HERE julle God nie versoek nie, soos julle Hom in Massa versoek het.
17
Ye shall diligently keep the commandments of the LORD your God, and his testimonies, and his statutes, which he hath commanded thee.
Julle moet die gebooie van die HERE julle God ywerig onderhou, en sy getuienisse, en sy insettinge, wat Hy jou beveel het.
18
And thou shalt do [that which is] right and good in the sight of the LORD: that it may be well with thee, and that thou mayest go in and possess the good land which the LORD sware unto thy fathers,
En jy moet doen wat reg en goed is in die oë van die HERE: dat dit met jou goed mag gaan, en dat jy mag ingaan en die goeie land besit wat die HERE aan jou vaders met ’n eed beloof het,

To cast out all thine enemies from before thee, as the LORD hath spoken.
Om al jou vyande voor jou uit te drywe, soos die HERE gespreek het.
20
[And] when thy son asketh thee in time to come, saying, What [mean] the testimonies, and the statutes, and the judgments, which the LORD our God hath commanded you?
En wanneer jou seun jou in die toekomende tyd vra, en sê, Wat beteken die getuienisse, en die insettinge, en die oordele, wat die HERE onse God julle beveel het?

Then thou shalt say unto thy son, We were Pharaoh’s bondmen in Egypt; and the LORD brought us out of Egypt with a mighty hand:
Dan moet jy tot jou seun sê, Ons was Farao se diensknegte in Egipte; en die HERE het ons met ’n magtige hand uit Egipte uitgebring:

And the LORD shewed signs and wonders, great and sore, upon Egypt, upon Pharaoh, and upon all his household, before our eyes:
En die HERE het tekens en wonders, groot en sleg, op Egipte, op Farao, en op sy hele huis gewys, voor ons oë:
23
And he brought us out from thence, that he might bring us in, to give us the land which he sware unto our fathers.
En Hy het ons daarvandaan uitgebring, dat Hy ons in mag bring, om ons die land te gee wat Hy aan ons vaders met ‚'n eed beloof het.
24
And the LORD commanded us to do all these statutes, to fear the LORD our God, for our good always, that he might preserve us alive, as [it is] at this day.
En die HERE het ons beveel om al hierdie insettinge te doen, om die HERE onse God te vrees, tot ons goed altyd, dat Hy ons mag behou lewendig, soos dit vandag is.
25
And it shall be our righteousness, if we observe to do all these commandments before the LORD our God, as he hath commanded us.
En dit sal ons geregtigheid wees, as ons ag gee om al hierdie gebooie te doen voor die HERE onse God, soos Hy ons beveel het.
