And Moses called all Israel, and said unto them, Hear, O Israel, the statutes and judgments which I speak in your ears this day, that ye may learn them, and keep, and do them.
En Moses het die hele Israel bymekaargeroep, en tot hulle gesê, Hoor, Israel, die insettinge en oordele wat ek vandag in julle ore spreek, dat julle dit mag leer, en dit onderhou om te doen.

The LORD our God made a covenant with us in Horeb.
Die HERE onse God het ‚'n verbond met ons gemaak in Horeb.
3
The LORD made not this covenant with our fathers, but with us, [even] us, who [are] all of us here alive this day.
Die HERE het hierdie verbond nie met ons vaders gemaak nie, maar met ons, selfs met ons, wat vandag hier almal lewendig is.
4
The LORD talked with you face to face in the mount out of the midst of the fire,
Die HERE het van aangesig tot aangesig met julle gespreek op die berg uit die midde van die vuur,
5
(I stood between the LORD and you at that time, to shew you the word of the LORD: for ye were afraid by reason of the fire, and went not up into the mount;) saying,
(Ek het in daardie tyd tussen die HERE en julle gestaan, om die woord van die HERE aan julle te verkondig: want julle was bevrees vanweë die vuur, en het nie op die berg opgeklim nie;) en Hy het gesê,

I [am] the LORD thy God, which brought thee out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage.
Ek is die HERE jou God, wat jou uitgelei het uit die land Egipte, uit die huis van diensbaarheid.
7
Thou shalt have none other gods before me.
Jy mag geen ander gode voor my aangesig hê nie.
8
Thou shalt not make thee [any] graven image, [or] any likeness [of any thing] that [is] in heaven above, or that [is] in the earth beneath, or that [is] in the waters beneath the earth:
Jy mag vir jou geen gesnede beeld maak, of enige gelykenis van enigiets wat in die hemel daarbo is, of wat op die aarde hieronder is, of wat in die waters onder die aarde is nie:

Thou shalt not bow down thyself unto them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God [am] a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth [generation] of them that hate me,
Jy mag jou voor hulle nie neerbuig, of hulle dien nie: want ek, die HERE jou God, is ’n jaloerse God, wat die ongeregtigheid van die vaders besoek aan die kinders tot in die derde en vierde geslag van dié wat My haat,

And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me and keep my commandments.
En barmhartigheid bewys aan duisende van dié wat My liefhet en my gebooie onderhou.
11
Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain: for the LORD will not hold [him] guiltless that taketh his name in vain.
Jy mag die Naam van die HERE jou God nie ydellik gebruik nie: want die HERE sal hom nie ongestraf laat wat sy Naam ydellik gebruik nie.
12
Keep the sabbath day to sanctify it, as the LORD thy God hath commanded thee.
Onderhou die sabbatdag om dit te heilig, soos die HERE jou God jou beveel het.
13
Six days thou shalt labour, and do all thy work:
Ses dae moet jy arbei, en al jou werk doen:
14
But the seventh day [is] the sabbath of the LORD thy God: [in it] thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, nor thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thine ox, nor thine ass, nor any of thy cattle, nor thy stranger that [is] within thy gates; that thy manservant and thy maidservant may rest as well as thou.
Maar die sewende dag is die sabbat van die HERE jou God: daarin mag jy geen werk doen nie, jy, of jou seun, of jou dogter, of jou dienskneg, of jou diensmaagd, of jou os, of jou esel, of enige van jou vee, of jou vreemdeling wat binne jou poorte is; dat jou dienskneg en jou diensmaagd mag rus soos jy.

And remember that thou wast a servant in the land of Egypt, and [that] the LORD thy God brought thee out thence through a mighty hand and by a stretched out arm: therefore the LORD thy God commanded thee to keep the sabbath day.
En gedenk dat jy ‚'n dienskneg was in die land Egipte, en dat die HERE jou God jou daarvandaan uitgebring het deur ‚'n magtige hand en deur ‚'n uitgestrekte arm: daarom het die HERE jou God jou beveel om die sabbatdag te onderhou.

Honour thy father and thy mother, as the LORD thy God hath commanded thee; that thy days may be prolonged, and that it may go well with thee, in the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee.
Eer jou vader en jou moeder, soos die HERE jou God jou beveel het; dat jou dae verleng mag word, en dat dit met jou goed mag gaan, in die land wat die HERE jou God jou gee.
17
Thou shalt not kill.
Jy mag nie doodslaan nie.
18
Neither shalt thou commit adultery.
Jy mag nie egbreuk pleeg nie.
19
Neither shalt thou steal.
Jy mag nie steel nie.
20
Neither shalt thou bear false witness against thy neighbour.
Jy mag geen valse getuienis teen jou naaste spreek nie.
21
Neither shalt thou desire thy neighbour’s wife, neither shalt thou covet thy neighbour’s house, his field, or his manservant, or his maidservant, his ox, or his ass, or any [thing] that [is] thy neighbour’s.
Jy mag nie begeer jou naaste se vrou nie, en jy mag nie begeer jou naaste se huis, sy veld, of sy dienskneg, of sy diensmaagd, sy os, of sy esel, of enigiets wat aan jou naaste behoort nie.

These words the LORD spake unto all your assembly in the mount out of the midst of the fire, of the cloud, and of the thick darkness, with a great voice: and he added no more. And he wrote them in two tables of stone, and delivered them unto me.
Hierdie woorde het die HERE tot julle hele vergadering gespreek op die berg uit die midde van die vuur, van die wolk, en van die digte duisternis, met ‚'n groot stem: en Hy het niks bygevoeg nie. En Hy het hulle op twee tafels van klip geskrywe, en dit aan my gegee.

And it came to pass, when ye heard the voice out of the midst of the darkness, (for the mountain did burn with fire,) that ye came near unto me, [even] all the heads of your tribes, and your elders;
En dit het gebeur, toe julle die stem uit die midde van die duisternis gehoor het, (want die berg het met vuur gebrand,) dat julle nader by my gekom het, selfs al die hoofde van julle stamme, en julle ouderlinge;
24
And ye said, Behold, the LORD our God hath shewed us his glory and his greatness, and we have heard his voice out of the midst of the fire: we have seen this day that God doth talk with man, and he liveth.
En julle het gesê, Kyk, die HERE onse God het ons sy heerlikheid en sy grootheid laat sien, en ons het sy stem uit die midde van die vuur gehoor: ons het vandag gesien dat God met die mens spreek, en hy bly lewe.
25
Now therefore why should we die? for this great fire will consume us: if we hear the voice of the LORD our God any more, then we shall die.
Nou dan, waarom moet ons sterwe? want hierdie groot vuur sal ons verteer: as ons die stem van die HERE onse God nog langer hoor, dan sal ons sterwe.
26
For who [is there of] all flesh, that hath heard the voice of the living God speaking out of the midst of the fire, as we [have], and lived?
Want wie is daar van alle vlees, wat die stem van die lewende God gehoor het wat uit die midde van die vuur spreek, soos ons, en gelewe het?
27
Go thou near, and hear all that the LORD our God shall say: and speak thou unto us all that the LORD our God shall speak unto thee; and we will hear [it], and do [it].
Gaan jy nader, en hoor alles wat die HERE onse God sal sê: en spreek jy tot ons alles wat die HERE onse God tot jou sal spreek; en ons sal dit hoor, en dit doen.
28
And the LORD heard the voice of your words, when ye spake unto me; and the LORD said unto me, I have heard the voice of the words of this people, which they have spoken unto thee: they have well said all that they have spoken.
En die HERE het die stem van julle woorde gehoor, toe julle tot my gespreek het; en die HERE het tot my gesê, Ek het die stem van die woorde van hierdie volk gehoor, wat hulle tot jou gespreek het: hulle het goed gesê alles wat hulle gespreek het.
29
O that there were such an heart in them, that they would fear me, and keep all my commandments always, that it might be well with them, and with their children for ever!
Ag, dat daar so ‚'n hart in hulle was, dat hulle My sou vrees, en al my gebooie altyd onderhou, dat dit met hulle goed mag gaan, en met hulle kinders vir ewig!
30
Go say to them, Get you into your tents again.
Gaan, sê tot hulle, Gaan terug na julle tente.
31
But as for thee, stand thou here by me, and I will speak unto thee all the commandments, and the statutes, and the judgments, which thou shalt teach them, that they may do [them] in the land which I give them to possess it.
Maar wat jou betref, staan hier by My, dat ek jou mag spreek al die gebooie, en die insettinge, en die oordele, wat jy hulle moet leer, dat hulle dit mag doen in die land wat ek hulle gee om te besit.
32
Ye shall observe to do therefore as the LORD your God hath commanded you: ye shall not turn aside to the right hand or to the left.
Julle moet dan sorgvuldig doen soos die HERE julle God julle beveel het: julle mag nie regs of links afwyk nie.
33
Ye shall walk in all the ways which the LORD your God hath commanded you, that ye may live, and [that it may be] well with you, and [that] ye may prolong [your] days in the land which ye shall possess.
Julle moet in al die weë wandel wat die HERE julle God julle beveel het, dat julle mag lewe, en dat dit met julle goed mag gaan, en dat julle julle dae mag verleng in die land wat julle sal besit.
