And it shall come to pass, if thou shalt hearken diligently unto the voice of the LORD thy God, to observe [and] to do all his commandments which I command thee this day, that the LORD thy God will set thee on high above all nations of the earth:
En dit sal gebeur, as jy ywerig luister na die stem van die HERE jou God, om sorgvuldig al sy gebooie te doen wat ek jou vandag beveel, dat die HERE jou God jou hoog sal sit bo al die nasies van die aarde:

And all these blessings shall come on thee, and overtake thee, if thou shalt hearken unto the voice of the LORD thy God.
En al hierdie seëninge sal oor jou kom, en jou inhaal, as jy na die stem van die HERE jou God luister.
3
Blessed [shalt] thou [be] in the city, and blessed [shalt] thou [be] in the field.
Geseënd moet jy wees in die stad, en geseënd moet jy wees in die veld.
4
Blessed [shall be] the fruit of thy body, and the fruit of thy ground, and the fruit of thy cattle, the increase of thy kine, and the flocks of thy sheep.
Geseënd moet wees die vrug van jou skoot, en die vrug van jou land, en die vrug van jou vee, die toename van jou beeste, en die troppe van jou skape.
5
Blessed [shall be] thy basket and thy store.
Geseënd moet wees jou mandjie en jou bakskottel.
6
Blessed [shalt] thou [be] when thou comest in, and blessed [shalt] thou [be] when thou goest out.
Geseënd moet jy wees wanneer jy inkom, en geseënd moet jy wees wanneer jy uitgaan.
7
The LORD shall cause thine enemies that rise up against thee to be smitten before thy face: they shall come out against thee one way, and flee before thee seven ways.
Die HERE sal jou vyande wat teen jou opstaan, voor jou aangesig verslaan: hulle sal teen jou uittrek op een pad, en voor jou op sewe paaie vlug.
8
The LORD shall command the blessing upon thee in thy storehouses, and in all that thou settest thine hand unto; and he shall bless thee in the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee.
Die HERE sal die seën oor jou beveel in jou skure, en in alles wat jy jou hand na uitsteek; en Hy sal jou seën in die land wat die HERE jou God jou gee.
9
The LORD shall establish thee an holy people unto himself, as he hath sworn unto thee, if thou shalt keep the commandments of the LORD thy God, and walk in his ways.
Die HERE sal jou as ’n heilige volk vir Homself oprig, soos Hy jou met ’n eed beloof het, as jy die gebooie van die HERE jou God onderhou, en in sy weë wandel.
10
And all people of the earth shall see that thou art called by the name of the LORD; and they shall be afraid of thee.
En al die volke van die aarde sal sien dat jy na die Naam van die HERE genoem word; en hulle sal vir jou bevrees wees.
11
And the LORD shall make thee plenteous in goods, in the fruit of thy body, and in the fruit of thy cattle, and in the fruit of thy ground, in the land which the LORD sware unto thy fathers to give thee.
En die HERE sal jou oorvloedig maak in goed, in die vrug van jou skoot, en in die vrug van jou vee, en in die vrug van jou land, in die land wat die HERE aan jou vaders met ‚'n eed beloof het om aan jou te gee.
12
The LORD shall open unto thee his good treasure, the heaven to give the rain unto thy land in his season, and to bless all the work of thine hand: and thou shalt lend unto many nations, and thou shalt not borrow.
Die HERE sal vir jou sy goeie skat, die hemel, oopmaak, om die reën van jou land in sy seisoen te gee, en om al die werk van jou hand te seën: en jy sal aan baie nasies uitleen, en jy sal nie leen nie.
13
And the LORD shall make thee the head, and not the tail; and thou shalt be above only, and thou shalt not be beneath; if that thou hearken unto the commandments of the LORD thy God, which I command thee this day, to observe and to do [them]:
En die HERE sal jou die hoof maak, en nie die stert nie; en jy sal net bo wees, en jy sal nie onder wees nie; as jy luister na die gebooie van die HERE jou God, wat ek jou vandag beveel om te onderhou en te doen:
14
And thou shalt not go aside from any of the words which I command thee this day, [to] the right hand, or [to] the left, to go after other gods to serve them.
En jy moet nie regs of links afwyk van enige van die woorde wat ek jou vandag beveel nie, om agter ander gode aan te gaan om hulle te dien.
15
But it shall come to pass, if thou wilt not hearken unto the voice of the LORD thy God, to observe to do all his commandments and his statutes which I command thee this day; that all these curses shall come upon thee, and overtake thee:
Maar dit sal gebeur, as jy nie na die stem van die HERE jou God wil luister nie, om sorgvuldig al sy gebooie en sy insettinge te doen wat ek jou vandag beveel; dat al hierdie vervloekinge oor jou sal kom, en jou inhaal:
16
Cursed [shalt] thou [be] in the city, and cursed [shalt] thou [be] in the field.
Vervloek moet jy wees in die stad, en vervloek moet jy wees in die veld.
17
Cursed [shall be] thy basket and thy store.
Vervloek moet wees jou mandjie en jou bakskottel.
18
Cursed [shall be] the fruit of thy body, and the fruit of thy land, the increase of thy kine, and the flocks of thy sheep.
Vervloek moet wees die vrug van jou skoot, en die vrug van jou land, die toename van jou beeste, en die troppe van jou skape.
19
Cursed [shalt] thou [be] when thou comest in, and cursed [shalt] thou [be] when thou goest out.
Vervloek moet jy wees wanneer jy inkom, en vervloek moet jy wees wanneer jy uitgaan.
20
The LORD shall send upon thee cursing, vexation, and rebuke, in all that thou settest thine hand unto for to do, until thou be destroyed, and until thou perish quickly; because of the wickedness of thy doings, whereby thou hast forsaken me.
Die HERE sal die vervloeking, die verwarring, en die bestraffing teen jou stuur, in alles wat jy jou hand na uitsteek om te doen, totdat jy vernietig is, en totdat jy spoedig omkom; vanweë die boosheid van jou handelinge, waarmee jy My verlaat het.
21
The LORD shall make the pestilence cleave unto thee, until he have consumed thee from off the land, whither thou goest to possess it.
Die HERE sal die pes aan jou kleef maak, totdat Hy jou verteer het uit die land waarheen jy gaan om dit te besit.
22
The LORD shall smite thee with a consumption, and with a fever, and with an inflammation, and with an extreme burning, and with the sword, and with blasting, and with mildew; and they shall pursue thee until thou perish.
Die HERE sal jou slaan met ‚'n teering, en met ‚'n koors, en met ‚'n ontsteking, en met ‚'n brandende hitte, en met die swaard, en met brandkoring, en met mildou; en hulle sal jou agtervolg totdat jy omkom.
23
And thy heaven that [is] over thy head shall be brass, and the earth that [is] under thee [shall be] iron.
En jou hemel wat oor jou hoof is, moet koper wees, en die aarde wat onder jou is, yster.
24
The LORD shall make the rain of thy land powder and dust: from heaven shall it come down upon thee, until thou be destroyed.
Die HERE sal die reën van jou land tot stof en as maak: van die hemel af moet dit op jou neerkom, totdat jy vernietig is.
25
The LORD shall cause thee to be smitten before thine enemies: thou shalt go out one way against them, and flee seven ways before them: and shalt be removed into all the kingdoms of the earth.
Die HERE sal jou voor jou vyande laat verslaan: jy sal teen hulle uittrek op een pad, en voor hulle op sewe paaie vlug: en jy moet verwyder word in al die koninkryke van die aarde.
26
And thy carcase shall be meat unto all fowls of the air, and unto the beasts of the earth, and no man shall fray [them] away.
En jou dooie liggaam moet wees tot voedsel vir al die voëls van die hemel, en vir die diere van die aarde, en niemand moet hulle wegjaag nie.
27
The LORD will smite thee with the botch of Egypt, and with the emerods, and with the scab, and with the itch, whereof thou canst not be healed.
Die HERE sal jou slaan met die swere van Egipte, en met die aambeie, en met die skurfte, en met die jeuk, waarvan jy nie genees kan word nie.
28
The LORD shall smite thee with madness, and blindness, and astonishment of heart:
Die HERE sal jou slaan met krankheid van verstand, en met blindheid, en met verwarring van hart:
29
And thou shalt grope at noonday, as the blind gropeth in darkness, and thou shalt not prosper in thy ways: and thou shalt be only oppressed and spoiled evermore, and no man shall save [thee].
En jy moet in die middag tas soos die blinde tas in die duisternis, en jy sal jou weë nie voorspoedig maak nie: en jy moet net verdruk en beroof word al die dae, en niemand sal red nie.
30
Thou shalt betroth a wife, and another man shall lie with her: thou shalt build an house, and thou shalt not dwell therein: thou shalt plant a vineyard, and shalt not gather the grapes thereof.
Jy moet ’n vrou verloof, en ’n ander man moet by haar lê: jy moet ’n huis bou, en jy sal daarin nie woon nie: jy moet ’n wingerd plant, en jy sal die vrug daarvan nie bymekaarmaak nie.
31
Thine ox [shall be] slain before thine eyes, and thou shalt not eat thereof: thine ass [shall be] violently taken away from before thy face, and shall not be restored to thee: thy sheep [shall be] given unto thine enemies, and thou shalt have none to rescue [them].
Jou os moet voor jou oë geslag word, en jy moet daarvan nie eet nie: jou esel moet met geweld voor jou aangesig weggeneem word, en moet nie na jou teruggebring word nie: jou skape moet aan jou vyande gegee word, en niemand moet jou red nie.
32
Thy sons and thy daughters [shall be] given unto another people, and thine eyes shall look, and fail [with longing] for them all the day long: and [there shall be] no might in thine hand.
Jou seuns en jou dogters moet aan ’n ander volk gegee word, en jou oë moet daarna kyk, en behae daarin hê die hele dag lank: en daar moet geen mag in jou hand wees nie.
33
The fruit of thy land, and all thy labours, shall a nation which thou knowest not eat up; and thou shalt be only oppressed and crushed alway:
Die vrug van jou land, en al jou arbeid, moet ‚'n nasie eet wat jy nie ken nie; en jy moet net verdruk en verbryseld word altyd:
34
So that thou shalt be mad for the sight of thine eyes which thou shalt see.
Sodat jy mal word van die aanskouing van jou oë wat jy sal sien.
35
The LORD shall smite thee in the knees, and in the legs, with a sore botch that cannot be healed, from the sole of thy foot unto the top of thy head.
Die HERE sal jou slaan in die knieë, en in die bene, met ’n bose sweer wat nie genees kan word nie, van die sool van jou voet af tot by jou kroon.
36
The LORD shall bring thee, and thy king which thou shalt set over thee, unto a nation which neither thou nor thy fathers have known; and there shalt thou serve other gods, wood and stone.
Die HERE sal jou, en jou koning wat jy oor jou sal aanstel, na ‚'n nasie bring wat nie jy of jou vaders geken het nie; en daar moet jy ander gode dien, hout en klip.
37
And thou shalt become an astonishment, a proverb, and a byword, among all nations whither the LORD shall lead thee.
En jy moet ‚'n verbasing wees, ‚'n spreekwoord, en ‚'n spot onder al die volke waarheen die HERE jou sal drywe.
38
Thou shalt carry much seed out into the field, and shalt gather [but] little in; for the locust shall consume it.
Jy moet baie saad in die veld uitbring, en min bymekaarmaak: want die sprinkaan moet dit verteer.
39
Thou shalt plant vineyards, and dress [them], but shalt neither drink [of] the wine, nor gather [the grapes]; for the worms shall eat them.
Jy moet wingerde plant en bewerk, maar jy moet nie die wyn drink, of van die druiwe bymekaarmaak nie; want die wurms moet dit eet.
40
Thou shalt have olive trees throughout all thy coasts, but thou shalt not anoint [thyself] with the oil; for thine olive shall cast [his fruit].
Jy moet olyfbome hê deur al jou grense, maar jy moet jou nie met die olie salf nie; want jou olyf moet sy vrug afwerp.
41
Thou shalt beget sons and daughters, but thou shalt not enjoy them; for they shall go into captivity.
Jy moet seuns en dogters verwek, maar jy moet hulle nie geniet nie; want hulle moet in gevangenskap weggaan.
42
All thy trees and fruit of thy land shall the locust consume.
Al jou bome en die vrug van jou land moet die sprinkaan verteer.
43
The stranger that [is] within thee shall get up above thee very high; and thou shalt come down very low.
Die vreemdeling wat onder jou is, moet hoog bo jou opgaan; en jy moet baie laag afdaal.
44
He shall lend to thee, and thou shalt not lend to him: he shall be the head, and thou shalt be the tail.
Hy moet aan jou uitleen, en jy moet nie aan hom uitleen nie: hy moet die hoof wees, en jy moet die stert wees.
45
Moreover all these curses shall come upon thee, and shall pursue thee, and overtake thee, till thou be destroyed; because thou hearkenedst not unto the voice of the LORD thy God, to keep his commandments and his statutes which he commanded thee:
Bowendien moet al hierdie vervloekinge oor jou kom, en jou agtervolg, en jou inhaal, totdat jy vernietig is; omdat jy nie na die stem van die HERE jou God geluister het nie, om sy gebooie en sy insettinge te onderhou wat Hy jou beveel het:
46
And they shall be upon thee for a sign and for a wonder, and upon thy seed for ever.
En hulle moet op jou wees tot ‚'n teken en tot ‚'n wonder, en op jou saad vir ewig.
47
Because thou servedst not the LORD thy God with joyfulness, and with gladness of heart, for the abundance of all [things];
Omdat jy die HERE jou God nie met blydskap en met vreugde van hart gedien het nie, vanweë die oorvloed van alle dinge;
48
Therefore shalt thou serve thine enemies which the LORD shall send against thee, in hunger, and in thirst, and in nakedness, and in want of all [things]: and he shall put a yoke of iron upon thy neck, until he have destroyed thee.
Daarom moet jy jou vyande dien wat die HERE teen jou sal stuur, in honger, en in dors, en in naaktheid, en in gebrek van alle dinge: en Hy moet ‚'n yster juk op jou nek sit, totdat Hy jou vernietig het.
49
The LORD shall bring a nation against thee from far, from the end of the earth, [as swift] as the eagle flieth; a nation whose tongue thou shalt not understand;
Die HERE sal ‚'n nasie teen jou bring van ver af, van die end van die aarde af, soos die arend vlieg; ‚'n nasie wie se taal jy nie sal verstaan nie;
50
A nation of fierce countenance, which shall not regard the person of the old, nor shew favour to the young:
‚'n Nasie van felle aangesig, wat die persoon van die oue nie sal aansien nie, en die jong nie gunstig wees nie:
51
And he shall eat the fruit of thy cattle, and the fruit of thy land, until thou be destroyed: which [also] shall not leave thee [either] corn, wine, or oil, [or] the increase of thy kine, or flocks of thy sheep, until he have destroyed thee.
En hy moet die vrug van jou vee, en die vrug van jou land eet, totdat jy vernietig is: wat ook geen koring, wyn, of olie, of die toename van jou beeste, of troppe van jou skape vir jou sal oorlaat nie, totdat hy jou vernietig het.
52
And he shall besiege thee in all thy gates, until thy high and fenced walls come down, wherein thou trustedst, throughout all thy land: and he shall besiege thee in all thy gates throughout all thy land, which the LORD thy God hath given thee.
En hy moet jou in al jou poorte beleër, totdat jou hoë en versterkte mure afkom, waarop jy vertrou, deur jou hele land: en hy moet jou beleër in al jou poorte deur jou hele land, wat die HERE jou God jou gegee het.
53
And thou shalt eat the fruit of thine own body, the flesh of thy sons and of thy daughters, which the LORD thy God hath given thee, in the siege, and in the straitness, wherewith thine enemies shall distress thee:
En jy moet die vrug van jou eie skoot eet, die vlees van jou seuns en van jou dogters, wat die HERE jou God jou gegee het, in die beleg, en in die benoudheid, waarmee jou vyande jou sal benoud maak:
54
[So that] the man [that is] tender among you, and very delicate, his eye shall be evil toward his brother, and toward the wife of his bosom, and toward the remnant of his children which he shall leave:
So dat die man wat sag en baie teer onder jou is, sy oog boos sal wees teenoor sy broer, en teenoor die vrou van sy boesem, en teenoor die oorblyfsel van sy kinders wat hy sal oorlaat:
55
So that he will not give to any of them of the flesh of his children whom he shall eat: because he hath nothing left him in the siege, and in the straitness, wherewith thine enemies shall distress thee in all thy gates.
Sodat hy nie aan een van hulle van die vlees van sy kinders sal gee, wat hy sal eet nie: omdat hy niks vir homself oor het in die beleg, en in die benoudheid, waarmee jou vyande jou in al jou poorte sal benoud maak nie.
56
The tender and delicate woman among you, which would not adventure to set the sole of her foot upon the ground for delicateness and tenderness, her eye shall be evil toward the husband of her bosom, and toward her son, and toward her daughter,
Die teer en teerlike vrou onder jou, wat nie probeer het om die sool van haar voet op die grond te sit van teerheid en teerheid nie, haar oog sal boos wees teenoor die man van haar boesem, en teenoor haar seun, en teenoor haar dogter,
57
And toward her young one that cometh out from between her feet, and toward her children which she shall bear: for she shall eat them for want of all [things] secretly in the siege and straitness, wherewith thine enemy shall distress thee in thy gates.
En teenoor haar jong geboorte wat tussen haar voete uitkom, en teenoor haar kinders wat sy sal baar: want sy sal hulle eet in die geheim van gebrek van alle dinge in die beleg en benoudheid, waarmee jou vyand jou in jou poorte sal benoud maak.

If thou wilt not observe to do all the words of this law that are written in this book, that thou mayest fear this glorious and fearful name, THE LORD THY GOD;
As jy nie sorgvuldig al die woorde van hierdie wet doen nie, wat in hierdie boek geskrywe is, om hierdie heerlike en vreeslike Naam, DIE HERE JOU GOD, te vrees;
59
Then the LORD will make thy plagues wonderful, and the plagues of thy seed, [even] great plagues, and of long continuance, and sore sicknesses, and of long continuance.
Dan sal die HERE jou plae, en die plae van jou saad, wonderbaar maak, selfs groot plae, en van lang duur, en bose siektes, en van lang duur.
60
Moreover he will bring upon thee all the diseases of Egypt, which thou wast afraid of; and they shall cleave unto thee.
Bowendien sal Hy al die siektes van Egipte op jou bring, wat jy gevrees het; en hulle sal aan jou kleef.
61
Also every sickness, and every plague, which [is] not written in the book of this law, them will the LORD bring upon thee, until thou be destroyed.
Ook elke siekte, en elke plaag, wat nie in die boek van hierdie wet geskrywe is nie, dié sal die HERE op jou bring, totdat jy vernietig is.
62
And ye shall be left few in number, whereas ye were as the stars of heaven for multitude; because thou wouldest not obey the voice of the LORD thy God.
En julle moet min oorbly, terwyl julle soos die sterre van die hemel in menigte was; omdat jy nie na die stem van die HERE jou God geluister het nie.
63
And it shall come to pass, [that] as the LORD rejoiced over you to do you good, and to multiply you; so the LORD will rejoice over you to destroy you, and to bring you to nought; and ye shall be plucked from off the land whither thou goest to possess it.
En dit sal gebeur, dat soos die HERE Hom oor julle verheug het om julle goed te doen, en julle te vermeerder; so sal die HERE Hom oor julle verheug om julle te vernietig, en julle om te bring: en julle moet uitgeruk word uit die land waarheen julle gaan om dit te besit.
64
And the LORD shall scatter thee among all people, from the one end of the earth even unto the other; and there thou shalt serve other gods, which neither thou nor thy fathers have known, [even] wood and stone.
En die HERE sal jou onder al die volke verstrooi, van die een end van die aarde tot by die ander; en daar moet jy ander gode dien, wat nie jy of jou vaders geken het nie, selfs hout en klip.
65
And among these nations shalt thou find no ease, neither shall the sole of thy foot have rest: but the LORD shall give thee there a trembling heart, and failing of eyes, and sorrow of mind:
En onder hierdie nasies moet jy geen rus vind nie, en die sool van jou voet moet geen rus hê nie: maar die HERE sal jou daar ’n bewing hart gee, en beging van oë, en smart van siel:
66
And thy life shall hang in doubt before thee; and thou shalt fear day and night, and shalt have none assurance of thy life:
En jou lewe moet voor jou ophang; en jy moet vrees nag en dag, en geen versekering van jou lewe hê nie:
67
In the morning thou shalt say, Would God it were even! and at even thou shalt say, Would God it were morning! for the fear of thine heart wherewith thou shalt fear, and for the sight of thine eyes which thou shalt see.
In die môre moet jy sê, Ag, dat dit aand was! en in die aand moet jy sê, Ag, dat dit môre was! vanweë die vrees van jou hart waarmee jy sal vrees, en vanweë die aanskouing van jou oë wat jy sal sien.
68
And the LORD shall bring thee into Egypt again with ships, by the way whereof I spake unto thee, Thou shalt see it no more again: and there ye shall be sold unto your enemies for bondmen and bondwomen, and no man shall buy [you].
En die HERE sal jou in skepe terugbring na Egipte, by die pad waarvan ek tot jou gesê het, Jy moet dit nie meer sien nie: en daar moet julle aan julle vyande as diensknegte en diensmaagde verkoop word, en niemand moet julle koop nie.
