Therefore thou shalt love the LORD thy God, and keep his charge, and his statutes, and his judgments, and his commandments, alway.
Daarom moet jy die HERE jou God liefhê, en altyd sy bevel, en sy insettinge, en sy oordele, en sy gebooie onderhou.
2
And know ye this day: for [I speak] not with your children which have not known, and which have not seen the chastisement of the LORD your God, his greatness, his mighty hand, and his stretched out arm,
En weet julle vandag: want ek spreek nie met julle kinders, wat nie geweet het, en nie gesien het die tugtiging van die HERE julle God, sy grootheid, sy magtige hand, en sy uitgestrekte arm nie,

And his miracles, and his acts, which he did in the midst of Egypt unto Pharaoh the king of Egypt, and unto all his land;
En sy tekens, en sy werke, wat Hy gedoen het in die midde van Egipte aan Farao die koning van Egipte, en aan sy hele land;
4
And what he did unto the army of Egypt, unto their horses, and to their chariots; how he made the water of the Red sea to overflow them as they pursued after you, and [how] the LORD hath destroyed them unto this day;
En wat Hy gedoen het aan die leër van Egipte, aan hulle perde, en aan hulle strydwaens; hoe Hy die waters van die Skelfsee oor hulle laat toevloei het toe hulle julle agtervolg het, en hoe die HERE hulle vernietig het tot vandag toe;

And what he did unto you in the wilderness, until ye came into this place;
En wat Hy vir julle in die wildernis gedoen het, totdat julle by hierdie plek gekom het;

And what he did unto Dathan and Abiram, the sons of Eliab, the son of Reuben: how the earth opened her mouth, and swallowed them up, and their households, and their tents, and all the substance that [was] in their possession, in the midst of all Israel:
En wat Hy aan Datan en Abíram, die seuns van Elíab, die seun van Ruben, gedoen het: hoe die aarde haar mond oopgemaak het, en hulle ingesluk het, en hulle huisgesinne, en hulle tente, en al die goed wat in hulle besit was, in die midde van die hele Israel:

But your eyes have seen all the great acts of the LORD which he did.
Maar julle oë het al die groot werke van die HERE gesien wat Hy gedoen het.

Therefore shall ye keep all the commandments which I command you this day, that ye may be strong, and go in and possess the land, whither ye go to possess it;
Daarom moet julle al die gebooie onderhou wat ek julle vandag beveel, dat julle mag sterk wees, en ingaan en die land besit, waarheen julle trek om dit te besit;

And that ye may prolong [your] days in the land, which the LORD sware unto your fathers to give unto them and to their seed, a land that floweth with milk and honey.
En dat julle julle dae mag verleng in die land, wat die HERE aan julle vaders met ‚'n eed beloof het om aan hulle en aan hulle saad te gee, ‚'n land wat oorvloei van melk en heuning.

For the land, whither thou goest in to possess it, [is] not as the land of Egypt, from whence ye came out, where thou sowedst thy seed, and wateredst [it] with thy foot, as a garden of herbs:
Want die land waarheen jy trek om dit te besit, is nie soos die land Egipte, waarvandaan julle uitgegaan het, waar jy jou saad gesaai het, en dit met jou voet natgemaak het, soos ‚'n groentetuin nie;

But the land, whither ye go to possess it, [is] a land of hills and valleys, [and] drinketh water of the rain of heaven:
Maar die land waarheen julle trek om dit te besit, is ’n land van heuwels en valleie, en dit drink water van die reën van die hemel:
12
A land which the LORD thy God careth for: the eyes of the LORD thy God [are] always upon it, from the beginning of the year even unto the end of the year.
’n Land waarvoor die HERE jou God sorg: die oë van die HERE jou God is altyd daarop, van die begin van die jaar af selfs tot die einde van die jaar.
13
And it shall come to pass, if ye shall hearken diligently unto my commandments which I command you this day, to love the LORD your God, and to serve him with all your heart and with all your soul,
En dit sal gebeur, as julle ywerig luister na my gebooie wat ek julle vandag beveel, om die HERE julle God lief te hê, en Hom te dien met julle hele hart en met julle hele siel,
14
That I will give [you] the rain of your land in his due season, the first rain and the latter rain, that thou mayest gather in thy corn, and thy wine, and thine oil.
Dat ek die reën van julle land in sy seisoen sal gee, die vroeë reën en die laat reën, dat jy jou koring, en jou mos, en jou olie mag insamel.
15
And I will send grass in thy fields for thy cattle, that thou mayest eat and be full.
En ek sal gras in jou veld gee vir jou vee, dat jy mag eet en versadig word.
16
Take heed to yourselves, that your heart be not deceived, and ye turn aside, and serve other gods, and worship them;
Neem julle in ag, dat julle hart nie bedrieg word nie, en julle afwyk, en ander gode dien, en julle voor hulle neerbuig;
17
And [then] the LORD’S wrath be kindled against you, and he shut up the heaven, that there be no rain, and that the land yield not her fruit; and [lest] ye perish quickly from off the good land which the LORD giveth you.
En dan die toorn van die HERE teen julle aangesteek word, en Hy die hemel toesluit, dat daar geen reën is nie, en dat die land sy vrug nie gee nie; en julle spoedig vergaan uit die goeie land wat die HERE julle gee.
18
Therefore shall ye lay up these my words in your heart and in your soul, and bind them for a sign upon your hand, that they may be as frontlets between your eyes.
Daarom moet julle hierdie my woorde in julle hart en in julle siel sit, en hulle as ’n teken op julle hand bind, dat hulle as voorhoofsbande tussen julle oë mag wees.

And ye shall teach them your children, speaking of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, when thou liest down, and when thou risest up.
En julle moet hulle julle kinders leer, en daarvan spreek wanneer jy in jou huis sit, en wanneer jy op die pad wandel, en wanneer jy neerlê, en wanneer jy opstaan.
20
And thou shalt write them upon the door posts of thine house, and upon thy gates:
En jy moet hulle op die deurposte van jou huis, en op jou poorte skrywe:
21
That your days may be multiplied, and the days of your children, in the land which the LORD sware unto your fathers to give them, as the days of heaven upon the earth.
Dat julle dae, en die dae van julle kinders, vermeerder mag word in die land wat die HERE aan julle vaders met ‚'n eed beloof het om aan hulle te gee, soos die dae van die hemel op die aarde.
22
For if ye shall diligently keep all these commandments which I command you, to do them, to love the LORD your God, to walk in all his ways, and to cleave unto him;
Want as julle ywerig al hierdie gebooie onderhou wat ek julle beveel om te doen, om die HERE julle God lief te hê, om in al sy weë te wandel, en aan Hom vas te hou;
23
Then will the LORD drive out all these nations from before you, and ye shall possess greater nations and mightier than yourselves.
Dan sal die HERE al hierdie nasies voor julle uit verdrywe, en julle sal groter nasies en magtiger as julle self in besit neem.
24
Every place whereon the soles of your feet shall tread shall be yours: from the wilderness and Lebanon, from the river, the river Euphrates, even unto the uttermost sea shall your coast be.
Elke plek waar die voetzool van julle voet op trap, moet julle wees: van die wildernis en die Líbanon af, van die rivier, die rivier Eufraat, selfs tot by die uiterste see moet julle kus wees.
25
There shall no man be able to stand before you: [for] the LORD your God shall lay the fear of you and the dread of you upon all the land that ye shall tread upon, as he hath said unto you.
Daar sal niemand voor julle standhou nie: want die HERE julle God sal die vrees vir julle en die skrik vir julle op die hele land sit wat julle sal betree, soos Hy julle gesê het.
26
Behold, I set before you this day a blessing and a curse;
Kyk, ek stel vandag voor julle ’n seën en ’n vloek;
27
A blessing, if ye obey the commandments of the LORD your God, which I command you this day:
Die seën, as julle luister na die gebooie van die HERE julle God, wat ek julle vandag beveel:
28
And a curse, if ye will not obey the commandments of the LORD your God, but turn aside out of the way which I command you this day, to go after other gods, which ye have not known.
En die vloek, as julle nie luister na die gebooie van die HERE julle God nie, maar afwyk van die pad wat ek julle vandag beveel, om agter ander gode aan te gaan, wat julle nie geken het nie.
29
And it shall come to pass, when the LORD thy God hath brought thee in unto the land whither thou goest to possess it, that thou shalt put the blessing upon mount Gerizim, and the curse upon mount Ebal.
En dit sal gebeur, wanneer die HERE jou God jou in die land bring waarheen jy trek om dit te besit, dat jy die seën moet sit op die berg Gerisim, en die vloek op die berg Ebal.
30
[Are] they not on the other side Jordan, by the way where the sun goeth down, in the land of the Canaanites, which dwell in the champaign over against Gilgal, beside the plains of Moreh?
Is hulle nie aan die ander kant van die Jordaan, by die pad van die sonsondergang, in die land van die Kanaäniete, wat in die vlakte woon teenoor Gilgal, naby die vlaktes van More nie?
31
For ye shall pass over Jordan to go in to possess the land which the LORD your God giveth you, and ye shall possess it, and dwell therein.
Want julle moet oortrek oor die Jordaan om in te gaan om die land te besit wat die HERE julle God julle gee, en julle moet dit besit, en daarin woon.
32
And ye shall observe to do all the statutes and judgments which I set before you this day.
En julle moet sorgvuldig doen al die insettinge en oordele wat ek julle vandag voorstel.
