Now there were in the church that was at Antioch certain prophets and teachers; as Barnabas, and Simeon that was called Niger, and Lucius of Cyrene, and Manaen, which had been brought up with Herod the tetrarch, and Saul.
Nou was daar in die gemeente wat in Antiochië was sekere profete en leraars; soos Barnabas, en Simeon wat Niger genoem is, en Lucius van Sirene, en Manaen, wat saam met Herodes die viervors opgevoed is, en Saul.

As they ministered to the Lord, and fasted, the Holy Ghost said, Separate me Barnabas and Saul for the work whereunto I have called them.
Soos hulle die Here gedien het, en gevas het, het die Heilige Gees gesê, Sonder vir My Barnabas en Saul af vir die werk waartoe ek hulle geroep het.

And when they had fasted and prayed, and laid [their] hands on them, they sent [them] away.
En toe hulle gevas en gebid het, en hulle die hande opgelê het, het hulle hulle weggestuur.

So they, being sent forth by the Holy Ghost, departed unto Seleucia; and from thence they sailed to Cyprus.
So hulle, gestuur deur die Heilige Gees, het afgegaan na Seleukië; en van daar het hulle na Siprus gevaar.

And when they were at Salamis, they preached the word of God in the synagogues of the Jews: and they had also John to [their] minister.
En toe hulle in Salamis was, het hulle die woord van God in die sinagoges van die Jode verkondig: en hulle het ook Johannes as hulle dienaar gehad.

And when they had gone through the isle unto Paphos, they found a certain sorcerer, a false prophet, a Jew, whose name [was] Barjesus:
En toe hulle die eiland deurgegaan het tot by Pafos, het hulle ‚'n sekere towenaar, ‚'n valse profeet, ‚'n Jood, gevind, wie se naam Barjesus was:

Which was with the deputy of the country, Sergius Paulus, a prudent man; who called for Barnabas and Saul, and desired to hear the word of God.
Wat by die landvoog was, Sergius Paulus, ‚'n verstandige man; wat Barnabas en Saul ontbied het, en begeer het om die woord van God te hoor.

But Elymas the sorcerer (for so is his name by interpretation) withstood them, seeking to turn away the deputy from the faith.
Maar Elimas die towenaar (want so word sy naam vertaal) het hulle teëgestaan, en gesoek om die landvoog van die geloof af te trek.

Then Saul, (who also [is called] Paul,) filled with the Holy Ghost, set his eyes on him,
Toe het Saul, (wat ook Paulus genoem is,) vervul met die Heilige Gees, sy oë op hom gevestig,
10
And said, O full of all subtilty and all mischief, [thou] child of the devil, [thou] enemy of all righteousness, wilt thou not cease to pervert the right ways of the Lord?
En gesê, o Vol van alle bedrog en alle boosheid, jy kind van die duiwel, jy vyand van alle geregtigheid, sal jy nie ophou om die regte weë van die Here te verdraai nie?

And now, behold, the hand of the Lord [is] upon thee, and thou shalt be blind, not seeing the sun for a season. And immediately there fell on him a mist and a darkness; and he went about seeking some to lead him by the hand.
En nou, kyk, die hand van die Here is op jou, en jy sal blind wees, en die son nie sien vir ‚'n seisoen nie. En dadelik het daar ‚'n mis en ‚'n duisternis op hom geval; en hy het rondgegaan, en gesoek na iemand om hom by die hand te lei.

Then the deputy, when he saw what was done, believed, being astonished at the doctrine of the Lord.
Toe het die landvoog, toe hy sien wat gebeur het, geglo, en was verwonderd oor die leer van die Here.

Now when Paul and his company loosed from Paphos, they came to Perga in Pamphylia: and John departing from them returned to Jerusalem.
Nou toe Paulus en sy geselskap van Pafos afgevaar het, het hulle in Perga in Pámfilië gekom: en Johannes het van hulle gewyk, en na Jérusalem teruggekeer.

But when they departed from Perga, they came to Antioch in Pisidia, and went into the synagogue on the sabbath day, and sat down.
Maar toe hulle van Perga weggegaan het, het hulle in Antiochië in Pisidië gekom, en in die sinagoge op die sabbatdag gegaan, en gaan sit.

And after the reading of the law and the prophets the rulers of the synagogue sent unto them, saying, [Ye] men [and] brethren, if ye have any word of exhortation for the people, say on.
En ná die lesing van die wet en die profete het die owerstes van die sinagoge tot hulle gestuur, sê, Manne en broers, as julle enige woord van vermaning vir die volk het, sê dit.

Then Paul stood up, and beckoning with [his] hand said, Men of Israel, and ye that fear God, give audience.
Toe het Paulus opgestaan, en met die hand stilgemaak, en gesê, Manne van Israel, en julle wat God vrees, luister.
17
The God of this people of Israel chose our fathers, and exalted the people when they dwelt as strangers in the land of Egypt, and with an high arm brought he them out of it.
Die God van hierdie volk van Israel het ons vaders uitverkies, en die volk verhoog toe hulle vreemdelinge in die land van Egipte was, en met ’n hoë arm het Hy hulle daaruit uitgelei.

And about the time of forty years suffered he their manners in the wilderness.
En omtrent die tyd van veertig jaar het Hy hulle maniere in die wildernis verdra.

And when he had destroyed seven nations in the land of Chanaan, he divided their land to them by lot.
En toe Hy sewe nasies in die land van Kanaän vernietig het, het Hy hulle land onder hulle deur die lot verdeel.
20
And after that he gave [unto them] judges about the space of four hundred and fifty years, until Samuel the prophet.
En ná daardie het Hy omtrent vierhonderd en vyftig jaar lank regters gegee, tot by Samuel die profeet.
21
And afterward they desired a king: and God gave unto them Saul the son of Cis, a man of the tribe of Benjamin, by the space of forty years.
En daarna het hulle ‚'n koning begeer: en God het aan hulle Saul die seun van Kis gegee, ‚'n man van die stam van Benjamin, veertig jaar lank.

And when he had removed him, he raised up unto them David to be their king; to whom also he gave testimony, and said, I have found David the [son] of Jesse, a man after mine own heart, which shall fulfil all my will.
En toe Hy hom weggeneem het, het Hy vir hulle Dawid tot koning verwek; aan wie Hy ook getuig het, en gesê, Ek het Dawid die seun van Isai gevind, ’n man na my eie hart, wat al my wil sal doen.

Of this man’s seed hath God according to [his] promise raised unto Israel a Saviour, Jesus:
Uit hierdie man se saad het God volgens sy belofte aan Israel ‚'n Verlosser, Jesus, verwek:
24
When John had first preached before his coming the baptism of repentance to all the people of Israel.
Toe Johannes eers die doop van bekering aan die hele volk van Israel gepreek het, voor sy koms.
25
And as John fulfilled his course, he said, Whom think ye that I am? I am not [he]. But, behold, there cometh one after me, whose shoes of [his] feet I am not worthy to loose.
En soos Johannes sy loopbaan voleindig het, het hy gesê, Wie dink julle dat ek is? Ek is nie Hy nie. Maar kyk, daar kom een ná my, wie se skoene van sy voete ek nie waardig is om los te maak nie.

Men [and] brethren, children of the stock of Abraham, and whosoever among you feareth God, to you is the word of this salvation sent.
Manne en broers, kinders van die geslag van Abraham, en elkeen onder julle wat God vrees, tot julle is die woord van hierdie heil gestuur.
27
For they that dwell at Jerusalem, and their rulers, because they knew him not, nor yet the voices of the prophets which are read every sabbath day, they have fulfilled [them] in condemning [him].
Want hulle wat in Jérusalem woon, en hulle owerstes, omdat hulle Hom nie geken het nie, en ook nie die stemme van die profete nie wat elke sabbat gelees word, het hulle vervul deur Hom te veroordeel.

And though they found no cause of death [in him], yet desired they Pilate that he should be slain.
En alhoewel hulle geen oorsaak van die dood in Hom gevind het nie, het hulle tog van Pilatus begeer dat Hy omgebring sou word.

And when they had fulfilled all that was written of him, they took [him] down from the tree, and laid [him] in a sepulchre.
En toe hulle alles voleindig het wat van Hom geskrywe is, het hulle Hom van die hout afgeneem, en in ’n graf gelê.
30
But God raised him from the dead:
Maar God het Hom uit die dooies opgewek:
31
And he was seen many days of them which came up with him from Galilee to Jerusalem, who are his witnesses unto the people.
En Hy is baie dae lank gesien van hulle wat saam met Hom van Galilea na Jérusalem opgegaan het, wat sy getuies is tot die volk.
32
And we declare unto you glad tidings, how that the promise which was made unto the fathers,
En ons verkondig aan julle blye tydinge, hoe dat die belofte wat aan die vaders gemaak is,
33
God hath fulfilled the same unto us their children, in that he hath raised up Jesus again; as it is also written in the second psalm, Thou art my Son, this day have I begotten thee.
God aan ons, hulle kinders, vervul het, deurdat Hy Jesus opgewek het; soos dit ook in die tweede psalm geskrywe is, Jy is my Seun, vandag het ek Jou verwek.

And as concerning that he raised him up from the dead, [now] no more to return to corruption, he said on this wise, I will give you the sure mercies of David.
En aangaande dat Hy Hom uit die dooies opgewek het, om nie meer tot verderwing terug te keer nie, het Hy so gesê, Ek sal julle die seker barmhartighede van Dawid gee.

Wherefore he saith also in another [psalm], Thou shalt not suffer thine Holy One to see corruption.
Daarom sê hy ook in ’n ander psalm, U sal u Heilige nie toelaat om verderwing te sien nie.
36
For David, after he had served his own generation by the will of God, fell on sleep, and was laid unto his fathers, and saw corruption:
Want Dawid, nadat hy in sy geslag die raad van God gedien het, het ontslaap, en is by sy vaders bygevoeg, en het verderwing gesien:
37
But he, whom God raised again, saw no corruption.
Maar Hy, wat God opgewek het, het geen verderwing gesien nie.
38
Be it known unto you therefore, men [and] brethren, that through this man is preached unto you the forgiveness of sins:
Laat dit daarom aan julle bekend wees, manne en broers, dat deur hierdie man aan julle die vergifnis van sondes verkondig word:
39
And by him all that believe are justified from all things, from which ye could not be justified by the law of Moses.
En deur Hom word almal wat glo geregverdig van alle dinge, waarvan julle nie deur die wet van Moses geregverdig kon word nie.
40
Beware therefore, lest that come upon you, which is spoken of in the prophets;
Pas daarom op, dat daar nie oor julle kom dit wat in die profete gespreek is nie;
41
Behold, ye despisers, and wonder, and perish: for I work a work in your days, a work which ye shall in no wise believe, though a man declare it unto you.
Kyk, julle veragters, en verwonder julle, en vergaan: want ek werk ‚'n werk in julle dae, ‚'n werk wat julle geensins sal glo, al sou iemand dit julle vertel.

And when the Jews were gone out of the synagogue, the Gentiles besought that these words might be preached to them the next sabbath.
En toe die Jode uit die sinagoge uitgegaan het, het die heidene gesmeek dat hierdie woorde die volgende sabbat tot hulle gespreek sou word.

Now when the congregation was broken up, many of the Jews and religious proselytes followed Paul and Barnabas: who, speaking to them, persuaded them to continue in the grace of God.
Nou toe die gemeente ontbind is, het baie van die Jode en godvresende bekeerlinge Petrus en Barnabas gevolg: wat, tot hulle spreekende, hulle oortuig het om in die genade van God te volhard.

And the next sabbath day came almost the whole city together to hear the word of God.
En die volgende sabbatdag het byna die hele stad saamgekom om die woord van God te hoor.

But when the Jews saw the multitudes, they were filled with envy, and spake against those things which were spoken by Paul, contradicting and blaspheming.
Maar toe die Jode die skare sien, is hulle met ywer gevul, en het teen die dinge wat deur Paulus gespreek is, weerspreek en gelaster.
46
Then Paul and Barnabas waxed bold, and said, It was necessary that the word of God should first have been spoken to you: but seeing ye put it from you, and judge yourselves unworthy of everlasting life, lo, we turn to the Gentiles.
Toe het Paulus en Barnabas vrymoedig geword, en gesê, Dit was nodig dat die woord van God eers tot julle gespreek word: maar aangesien julle dit verwerp, en julle self nie waardig oordeel van die ewige lewe nie, kyk, ons wend ons tot die heidene.

For so hath the Lord commanded us, [saying], I have set thee to be a light of the Gentiles, that thou shouldest be for salvation unto the ends of the earth.
Want so het die Here ons beveel, sê, Ek het jou tot ’n lig van die heidene gestel, dat jy tot heil sou wees tot aan die einde van die aarde.

And when the Gentiles heard this, they were glad, and glorified the word of the Lord: and as many as were ordained to eternal life believed.
En toe die heidene dit hoor, was hulle bly, en het die woord van die Here verheerlik: en soveel as tot die ewige lewe verordineer was, het geglo.

And the word of the Lord was published throughout all the region.
En die woord van die Here is deur die hele streek versprei.
50
But the Jews stirred up the devout and honourable women, and the chief men of the city, and raised persecution against Paul and Barnabas, and expelled them out of their coasts.
Maar die Jode het die godvresende en eerbare vroue, en die voornaamste manne van die stad, opgerui, en ‚'n vervolging teen Paulus en Barnabas opgewek, en hulle uit hulle grense uitgewerp.

But they shook off the dust of their feet against them, and came unto Iconium.
Maar hulle het die stof van hulle voete teen hulle afgeskud, en na Ikonium gekom.
52
And the disciples were filled with joy, and with the Holy Ghost.
En die dissipels is met blydskap en met die Heilige Gees vervul.
