1
Finally, brethren, pray for us, that the word of the Lord may have [free] course, and be glorified, even as [it is] with you:
Eindelik, broers, bid vir ons, dat die woord van die Here mag voortgaan en verheerlik word, net soos by julle;
2
And that we may be delivered from unreasonable and wicked men: for all [men] have not faith.
En dat ons verlos mag word van onredelike en boos mense: want nie almal het die geloof nie.
3
But the Lord is faithful, who shall stablish you, and keep [you] from evil.
Maar die Here is getrou, wat julle sal bevestig, en julle bewaar van die boosheid.
4
And we have confidence in the Lord touching you, that ye both do and will do the things which we command you.
En ons het vertroue in die Here aangaande julle, dat julle die dinge doen en sal doen wat ons julle beveel.

And the Lord direct your hearts into the love of God, and into the patient waiting for Christ.
En die Here rig julle harte tot die liefde van God, en tot die geduldige wagting van Christus.

Now we command you, brethren, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye withdraw yourselves from every brother that walketh disorderly, and not after the tradition which he received of us.
Nou beveel ons julle, broers, in die Naam van onse Here Jesus Christus, dat julle julle onttrek van elke broer wat onordelik wandel, en nie volgens die oorlewering wat hy van ons ontvang het nie.

For yourselves know how ye ought to follow us: for we behaved not ourselves disorderly among you;
Want julle self weet hoe julle ons behoort na te volg: want ons het nie onordelik onder julle gewandel nie;

Neither did we eat any man’s bread for nought; but wrought with labour and travail night and day, that we might not be chargeable to any of you:
En het ook nie iemand se brood verniet geëet nie; maar met arbeid en swaarkry, nag en dag werkende, dat ons niemand van julle tot las sou wees nie:

Not because we have not power, but to make ourselves an ensample unto you to follow us.
Nie omdat ons nie mag het nie, maar om onsself ‚'n voorbeeld vir julle te stel om ons na te volg.

For even when we were with you, this we commanded you, that if any would not work, neither should he eat.
Want selfs toe ons by julle was, het ons julle dit beveel, dat as iemand nie wil werk nie, hy ook nie moet eet nie.

For we hear that there are some which walk among you disorderly, working not at all, but are busybodies.
Want ons hoor dat daar sommige is wat onder julle onordelik wandel, niks werkende nie, maar bemoeisiek is.

Now them that are such we command and exhort by our Lord Jesus Christ, that with quietness they work, and eat their own bread.
Nou dié wat so is, beveel en vermaan ons deur onse Here Jesus Christus, dat hulle met stilheid werkende hulle eie brood eet.

But ye, brethren, be not weary in well doing.
Maar julle, broers, word nie moeg om goed te doen nie.
14
And if any man obey not our word by this epistle, note that man, and have no company with him, that he may be ashamed.
En as iemand nie ons woord in hierdie brief gehoorsaam nie, merk daardie man, en hou geen gemeenskap met hom nie, dat hy skaam mag word.
15
Yet count [him] not as an enemy, but admonish [him] as a brother.
Tog ag hom nie as ‚'n vyand nie, maar vermaan hom as ‚'n broer.

Now the Lord of peace himself give you peace always by all means. The Lord [be] with you all.
Nou die Here van vrede self gee julle vrede altyd op alle wyses. Die Here sy met julle almal.

The salutation of Paul with mine own hand, which is the token in every epistle: so I write.
Die groete van my, Paulus, met my eie hand, wat die teken is in elke brief: so skryf ek.
18
The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ [be] with you all. Amen.
Die genade van onse Here Jesus Christus sy met julle almal. Amen.
