Then came all the tribes of Israel to David unto Hebron, and spake, saying, Behold, we [are] thy bone and thy flesh.
Toe het al die stamme van Israel by Dawid in Hebron gekom, en gespreek, en gesê, Kyk, ons is jou been en jou vlees.

Also in time past, when Saul was king over us, thou wast he that leddest out and broughtest in Israel: and the LORD said to thee, Thou shalt feed my people Israel, and thou shalt be a captain over Israel.
Ook in die vorige tye, toe Saul koning oor ons was, was jy dit wat Israel uitgelei en ingelei het: en die HERE het tot jou gesê, Jy moet my volk Israel wei, en jy moet ’n vors wees oor Israel.

So all the elders of Israel came to the king to Hebron; and king David made a league with them in Hebron before the LORD: and they anointed David king over Israel.
So het al die ouderlinge van Israel dan by die koning in Hebron gekom; en koning Dawid het ‚'n verbond met hulle in Hebron voor die HERE gemaak: en hulle het Dawid as koning oor Israel gesalf.

David [was] thirty years old when he began to reign, [and] he reigned forty years.
Dawid was dertig jaar oud toe hy koning geword het, en hy het veertig jaar lank geregeer.

In Hebron he reigned over Judah seven years and six months: and in Jerusalem he reigned thirty and three years over all Israel and Judah.
In Hebron het hy sewe jaar en ses maande oor Juda geregeer: en in Jérusalem het hy drie en dertig jaar lank oor die hele Israel en Juda geregeer.

And the king and his men went to Jerusalem unto the Jebusites, the inhabitants of the land: which spake unto David, saying, Except thou take away the blind and the lame, thou shalt not come in hither: thinking, David cannot come in hither.
En die koning en sy manne het na Jérusalem gegaan teen die Jebusiete, die inwoners van die land: wat tot Dawid gespreek het, en gesê, Jy sal nie hier inkom nie, behalwe as jy die blindes en die lammes wegjaag, met die bedoeling, Dawid kan nie hier inkom nie.

Nevertheless David took the strong hold of Zion: the same [is] the city of David.
Nogtans het Dawid die vesting van Sion ingeneem: dit is die stad van Dawid.

And David said on that day, Whosoever getteth up to the gutter, and smiteth the Jebusites, and the lame and the blind, [that are] hated of David’s soul, [he shall be chief and captain]. Wherefore they said, The blind and the lame shall not come into the house.
En Dawid het daardie dag gesê, Wie ook al die Jebusiete verslaan, en die waterkanaal bereik, en die lammes en die blindes, wat deur Dawid se siel gehaat word, hy sal ’n hoof en ’n owerste wees. Daarom het hulle gesê, Die blindes en die lammes sal nie in die huis inkom nie.

So David dwelt in the fort, and called it the city of David. And David built round about from Millo and inward.
So het Dawid dan in die vesting gewoon, en dit die stad van Dawid genoem. En Dawid het rondom gebou van Millo af en na binne.

And David went on, and grew great, and the LORD God of hosts [was] with him.
En Dawid het groter en groter geword; want die HERE, die God van die leërskare, was met hom.

And Hiram king of Tyre sent messengers to David, and cedar trees, and carpenters, and masons: and they built David an house.
En Hiram koning van Tirus het boodskappers na Dawid gestuur, en sederhout, en skrynwerkers, en metselaars: en hulle het vir Dawid ‚'n huis gebou.

And David perceived that the LORD had established him king over Israel, and that he had exalted his kingdom for his people Israel’s sake.
En Dawid het gemerk dat die HERE hom as koning oor Israel bevestig het, en dat Hy sy koninkryk verhoog het om sy volk Israel se ontwil.

And David took [him] more concubines and wives out of Jerusalem, after he was come from Hebron: and there were yet sons and daughters born to David.
En Dawid het vir hom nog byvroue en vroue uit Jérusalem geneem, nadat hy van Hebron gekom het: en daar is nog seuns en dogters aan Dawid gebore.

And these [be] the names of those that were born unto him in Jerusalem; Shammua, and Shobab, and Nathan, and Solomon,
En dit is die name van die wat aan hom in Jérusalem gebore is; Sammúa, en Sobab, en Natan, en Salomo,

Ibhar also, and Elishua, and Nepheg, and Japhia,
Ibhar ook, en Elisúa, en Nefeg, en Jáfia,

And Elishama, and Eliada, and Eliphalet.
En Elisáma, en Eljáda, en Elífelet.

But when the Philistines heard that they had anointed David king over Israel, all the Philistines came up to seek David; and David heard [of it], and went down to the hold.
Maar toe die Filistyne gehoor het dat hulle Dawid as koning oor Israel gesalf het, het al die Filistyne opgetrek om Dawid te soek; en Dawid het dit gehoor, en afgegaan na die vesting.

The Philistines also came and spread themselves in the valley of Rephaim.
Die Filistyne het ook gekom en hulle in die dal van Refáim versprei.

And David inquired of the LORD, saying, Shall I go up to the Philistines? wilt thou deliver them into mine hand? And the LORD said unto David, Go up: for I will doubtless deliver the Philistines into thine hand.
En Dawid het die HERE gevra, en gesê, Sal ek optrek teen die Filistyne? sal U hulle in my hand gee? En die HERE het tot Dawid gesê, Trek op: want ek sal sekerlik die Filistyne in jou hand gee.

And David came to Baalperazim, and David smote them there, and said, The LORD hath broken forth upon mine enemies before me, as the breach of waters. Therefore he called the name of that place Baalperazim.
En Dawid het by Baäl-Perasim gekom, en Dawid het hulle daar verslaan, en gesê, Die HERE het my vyande voor my uitgebreek soos die deurbraak van waters. Daarom het hy die naam van daardie plek Baäl-Perasim genoem.

And there they left their images, and David and his men burned them.
En daar het hulle hulle beelde agtergelaat, en Dawid en sy manne het hulle weggeneem.

And the Philistines came up yet again, and spread themselves in the valley of Rephaim.
En die Filistyne het nog ’n keer opgetrek, en hulle in die dal van Refáim versprei.

And when David inquired of the LORD, he said, Thou shalt not go up; [but] fetch a compass behind them, and come upon them over against the mulberry trees.
En toe Dawid die HERE gevra het, het Hy gesê, Jy moet nie optrek nie; maar trek om agter hulle, en kom by hulle teenoor die moerbeibome.

And let it be, when thou hearest the sound of a going in the tops of the mulberry trees, that then thou shalt bestir thyself: for then shall the LORD go out before thee, to smite the host of the Philistines.
En laat dit wees, wanneer jy die geruis van ’n beweging in die toppe van die moerbeibome hoor, dat jy jou dan moet haas: want dan sal die HERE voor jou uitgaan om die leër van die Filistyne te verslaan.

And David did so, as the LORD had commanded him; and smote the Philistines from Geba until thou come to Gazer.
En Dawid het so gedoen soos die HERE hom beveel het; en hy het die Filistyne verslaan van Geba af totdat jy by Geser kom.
