Principles of AFR DVK

These rules stand for Version 1.0.

  1. The KJV is the primary source. The English King James Version (1769 Cambridge line) is the authority for this study translation.
  2. No copying of existing Afrikaans Bibles. AFR 1933/53, 1983, 2020 and others are not a source or a template.
  3. No change of meaning. The Afrikaans must say what the KJV says.
  4. Biblical terms are kept. Holy Names, offices, and fixed Bible words are not given up for smoother modern speech.
  5. One vocabulary across all 66 books.
  6. Chapter-by-chapter review before a section is treated as settled.
  7. A study Bible, not a replacement of the KJV. The English KJV remains the standard.
